Very pretty, I suggest using mushroom lamps here and there, maybe some glowing-moss items, and some custom pathing designs as the cherry on top
Maybe even some paper lanterns with your own custom designs

Just use any items that gives the area that dreamy and fantasy vibes, like items that produce lights, it really improves the build in terms of atmosphere

But that’s just my suggestions tho, the build already looks pretty good

From what I’ve seen, whenever people do a spring island, they use white and yellow cosmos and hyacinth. Also, white and yellow tulips work too. For mine, I used pink and blue flowers too to add some variety.

I think once the trees are grown itll look more like a path! You can put more trees in the area behind the fencing too to make it look more foresty. If you dont already have a forest on your island this is a really big spot to make a nice forest area!! You can add gyroids too, i think they fit inside of forests very well. Placing them on top of stone stools, tree stumps, or mush logs looks nice

ANYWAY, ignore everything except rez services and the museum, because nothing else has moved since I haphazardly placed it the first time. Okay...I did my absolute best to place the museum in line with rez services. They're supposed to be lined up. I dug holes and everything. Is it worth it to try and move it or is this just one of those things?

I finally finished this awful attempt at waterscaping. I normally terraform as I go, but the river was meant to be an integral part of my island’s theme and I wanted to do it early so I could build around it. For those curious, my theme is basically an elegant town surrounded by a mystical forest. That area with the dirt path is reserved for a castle that will connect both sections of the island. What do yall think of this layout? I definitely plan on adding cliffs as well but I mainly wanted thoughts on the waterscaping here

The underlying path (brown dirt) will influence the shade of custom designs put on top IF they have a blank space. I use that same path and the Middle tile does not have a blank spot so it doesn’t “snap” to the underlying path. I just don’t use any dirt under that path now but there might be a middle tile with a blank pixel online somewhere.

I completely get you. I just recently flattened and finished my entrance and placement of museum. What I’ve done is picked an area eg: museum, campsite, fillers and begun working on it. Start off with your own ideas then have Pinterest/Insta/YouTube/discord for your inspiration

You could draw your plans out first once settled you could start..

One thing I’m also stuck on is placement of the houses or the type of set out I want for them.

It’s going to take a long time to have the perfect fit. I think you’ll always come back to an area to improve on it too that’s inevitable. GL ☺️

A pumpkin patch sounds like a fantastic idea for the season.
Once its over (or if you want more than just pumpkins), replace some with veggies.
Check the specialty goods in the Nook Shopping app (or the kiosk at resident services), sometimes there's a tractor being sold. The items switch out daily, so it may take a few days to find it. Theres also a delivery truck.

I personally didn’t flatten and terraform my island and it didn’t come out too bad if I do say so myself. You can honestly just get away with just a few minor adjustments, your map looks great!

I like the center island with bridges - I have the same thing on my island. You can pretty much do whatever you want with it and it'll look good as long as you decorate well. Free your creativity!

If you dont think youre creative, or afraid to flatten, then dont.
I made the experience that flattening can be very depressing and mentally draining and it caused me to restart a few times.
You can look up island tours and speed builds of norm core and no terraform. some people have created stunning island designs without all the crazy terraforming.

Just recently i saw an island tour of a farmcore island that was no terraform and it was one of the best islands i had seen to date.
Dont get trapped in those instragram island designs, theyre not created with longevity or playability in mind. if you intend to play even after you finished your island, then comparing yourself to those is not the way to go.

one of my islands had the very same base map. i dont play it anymore though, its just a storage and cataloging island now, and a place to hold some villagers should i ever need to for whatever reason. The island i play on is being designed with navigation and playability in mind and it will be a forever island.

You need to listen to what Isabelle suggests. I found I could get to five stars with more flowers, trees and furniture placed just about everywhere. Buildings - villager homes, all the stores, bridges/inclines - also accumulate points that count towards the rating. I reached five stars yet I hated what I had as a design, but at least I got there - and then I started redesigning everything 😂

If you find something you like then search things that are similar to that. Maybe you could even combine or take inspiration off off multiple themes you find !

But I'm not sure how to start the build and how to put together a good layout. Hello. You could start by looking at the map and figuring out where you’d like your main attractions. Personally I started off with the entrance, museum and campsite . Plan it out (draw) with how you’d like it to look eg- items and if cliffs are involved, pond/stream etc. and stick to one area and complete it then move to the next space. Look to Pinterest for inspiration or Instagram. But you should build what works best for you as sometimes aesthetic isn’t always convenient. Once your main areas are done and planned out work on fillers! Hope this helps.

Really depends on a style that you want for your island. There is no perfect layout. Just go with the flow but the neighborhood is the one that take most of the space

I prefer keeping my shops near the front of my island. As for the rest, I try to do different things depending on theme and vibe I want. Right now, my houses are all spaced out for the most part. For my last theme, I put most of my villager houses at the back of my island (top right) in two rows of 3. If you have the online membership, I can send you my dream address so that you can see it.

it depends on what theyre going for

perfect for a city, farmcore, etc. maybe more around the bottom left, but for a like fairycore/ cottagecore, its too broad and spaced out. and the houses wouldnt typically be that lined up for a fairycore island.

There’s plenty of them. The more common ones are kidcore, springcore, cottagecore, junglecore, tropicore, forestcore, and citycore. I don’t have photos of these, but you can just look these up on google or YouTube though.

I was thinking like an outdoors diy area with a work bench, a couple of crafted things, some decorations (for ex those paint cans). It can also be a couple of easels or you can combine those two but I think the first one is more functional. Here are some reference pictures 😊

You could do a promenade with a view. You seem to have a lot of incline left to use so you could even have the very back lower and put garden rocks etc on the island rocks and green wheat fields. Have a path w bench’s and a fence up top. Something I always wanted to do but my island doesn’t have the room 😦
