Oh I do this all the time, I can actually help someone for once! 😄
So, an amiibo will let you invite a villager to your campsite (using the green machine in resident services, I forget what they call it)
That villager will immediately come to your campsite, and if you talk to them (sometimes it takes a few tries) they’ll ask you to make a DIY for them, if you make the DIY and give it to them they’ll give you something in return
If you do this for 3 days in a row you can ask them to move to your island on the 3rd day, and you can choose who they put in boxes to move in, the other villager will be in boxes immediately

I don’t own any non-villager amiibo so I may be incorrect, but I believe special characters can be used for inviting to the cafe to share a coffee with you, or to the DLC so you can make them a home 🙂
“In boxes” is the term used for a villager who is moving out and can be invited to another player’s island to live with them 🙂
Edit to add: I don’t actually know what would happen if you scanned an amiibo for a villager that’s already on your island, but I’m happy to test it and find out ^_^

hi! here’s what’s going on:
• im trying to transfer my island from my switch-lite to my new, main switch.

here’s the issues:
• I’ve been playing on my new switch for a couple of months - I’m only now transferring my island.
• I’ve downloaded the island transfer tool on both devices - I can’t transfer my island because both switches are using the same profile, recognizing when the same app is open on two devices.
• tutorials suggest that I transfer Nintendo save data first - sadly I can’t do that because my account is “already in use” on my new switch.
• Nintendo suggests that i send individual save data for a game from my switch-lite but ACNH isn’t in that list of games.

any thoughts on how I can transfer my island?

I opened animal crossing briefly on my new switch today with the physical copy placed inside of it and immediately closed it out once I realized it didn’t know that I had a save previously. fwiw, when I first started playing I accidentally scrapped my very first island by closing out the game before finishing the tutorial with the bonfire etc., so the second time when I loaded it up I had to redo everything from the beginning. so, your autosave most likely doesn't get overwritten unless you complete all that and move on to the next day, and you can do things like turn off your wifi to make sure nothing gets sent to the internet

Trying to get a villager from the campsite to move in. Whenever I win their game, they try to kick out Rosie, who I want to keep. They have chosen Rosie 3 times in a row. Is this a coincidence, or are they hard-locked into choosing this specific villager every time right now?

If you have told them no about kicking Rosie instead of closing the game when presented the choice, they are hard-locked on Rosie. If you've each time closed the game before answering, then it's just very bad luck

You're doing nothing wrong, tarantulas are just that rare. They used to be more common but their spawns were nerfed like 2 years ago

Dodo codes are one-time passwords to access your island that you can share outside of the game; you can generate one by talking to Orville at the airport, and you can choose who can visit: in your case since you haven't added anyone as Switch friends yet, you need to ask him to let anyone join.

• Too many waterfalls

If you're experiencing island lag, try changing up your layout! Most commonly, that is the issue.
Unfortunately, these issues cannot be prevented with existing dream islands unless the creator optimises their island.

AFAIK you sadly can't use touch screen controls in the custom design editor. But any sort of touch screen pen should work otherwise, I use this very cheap one with a simple rubber tip for bulletin board art

Ye, it's the 5 days - saying no activates the cooldown. If you accidentally talk to a villager with a moveout bubble during a transferring process, you can close the game before answering anything to avoid the cooldown

I'm not sure actually apologies. Based on what I know about TT'ing backwards, I'd assume it won't, but as I said I'm not exactly sure
(Also, the 15 day cooldown is after a villager has actuslly moved out, just to clarify )
