Also, friendship does not decay... you could ignore your villager for years they would still stay at the same friendship

So I had someone come to my island today to come get a villager. Before they came the villager was in boxes with her broom. When she entered the house she wasn’t able to adopt her? I went inside and then she didn’t have a broom no more! Is this a glitch or anything? (The villager was Ellie btw)

The broom thing depends on if your gates are open. If they're closed, the villager will always be holding a broom. If they're open, they may or may not be holding it.

As for the person, they may not have been able to adopt Ellie for a couple reasons, some being:
• They weren't far enough in the game
• Their plot got autofilled and they didn't realise
• They didn't have an empty plot, or their own villager was still in the "in-boxes" phase.

Ah that makes a little more sense, so if I closed my gates while they were there the broom would reappear?

I'm not sure how it works if your visitor is still on your island, but I can tell you the broom isn't something to get hung up about. It doesn't affect the villager's ability to be adopted in any way. It's mentioned in the villager trading channels because it's one more way for the staff to verify the legitimacy of sought-after villagers being posted for trade, that's all.

There's no way for me to know for sure because I can't talk to them, but you can ask them a couple troubleshooting questions.

"How many animal villagers do you have?" -> If they have less than 6, they are too early in the game to adopt. You must have built the campsite and invited your first visitor before you can adopt from other players.
"Did you have an empty, unsold plot?" -> This'll address the latter 2 points from my original message. If the answer to this isn't "yes" then they wouldn't be able to adopt at all.

• Visit Nook Miles Ticket islands (mystery tours). These islands always have rocks you can hit for materials.

They are 8 am to 10 pm unless you put up an ordinance, but that would never make the opening time later. Do you have a screenshot of your shop hours saying they start at 10 am?

Visit the shop after hours and check the sign on the door, it'll tell you the hours. The likely explanation is your time was changed and you didn't realize.

I think what may have happened was that my wife may have misread the sign and was thinking 10am-8pm, so we just kinda got that stuck in our heads this whole time and have never actually tried to walk into the door until 10am

also, while i have you here. is there any rule in the discord about changing your switch time for new horizons? I had a question about it. We aren't trying to do any time traveling exploits or anything, just something else. Nothing to "cheat" the game at all.

Not at all. Time traveling (and discussion of it) is not only absolutely acceptable and allowed here, but the server doesn't tolerate bashing people who choose to time travel. It's considered a play style, not a cheat, hack, or exploit in any way.

Ah ok cool. Well my wife and i originally played mostly at night, so we changed our time zone to i believe tokyo time so that it would be day time when we play. However we have been playing earlier in the day now and were wanting to change it to a few hours earlier time zone so that the shop and stuff opens earlier in the day (right now it doesnt open until 6pm or so our time).

We were just wondering if going back in time will mess anything up. Like if we go back 5 hours or so to change to that time zone, will we lose everything we had done the previous 5 hours? Or how does going back in time work?

Backwards time travel will not affect any progress, everything will be the exact same as the last time you logged in. Do be aware that backwards tt will spoil your turnips though (if you have any), and if you were tracking your turnip sell prices, it will reset your price trend for the week and all the prices you logged will become invalid.

Oh crap i just discovered another question while browsing the discord channels. How does "trading" a villager work? Or getting a villager from someone else in general. We are up to 9 villagers atm, and were going to wait to build the 10th plot (we're low on miles for mystery islands), but if we could get a guaranteed villager of our choosing from another player then that would be CRAZY awesome. My wife wants a bear villager SO bad lol.

I’m not sure how to fix this, but this happened to me on my TV too, currently don’t know a fix for it, but I just switched tv’s in my house. If you have another TV (better being lower quality like 1080p or 720p) maybe try hooking up your switch to a 1080 or 720p tv in your house and see if that fixes it, seemed to work for me, hope it works for you!

How to MAKE BELLS, the SIMPLE Way:

1. Play the stalk market: buy turnips at a low price and sell them high (see https://chibisnorlax.github.io/acnhfaq/island-life/turnips/#turnipsstalk-market).
2. Dive and catch sea creatures to sell back to Nook's Cranny.
3. Grow stuff (fruits, flowers, pumpkins, etc) and sell to Nook's Cranny.
4. If you have a NSO (Nintendo Switch Online), trade with other players by visiting #721542917264638002 and seeing where to sell your services or goods!

if it helps it happened with dizzy (lazy) and etolie (normal). i just went up to them to talk to them normally and they said something like "you know id love to visit you, when can i come over?" and there was an option for right now and tomorrow. i forgot what dizzy said but etolie told me shed come over in the morning. i think it was just random dialogue though because i didnt play in the morning and when i did play in the afternoon it still wouldnt let me actually talk to her (it just had the options for things like "what did you want?" until i went to my house and waited for her to come. then she stayed for literally 30 seconds. dizzy was awhile ago so i dont rlly remember what he did but im assuming the same

hi! the only thing that changes between only personality is singing voice - female villagers have 1 voice, male villagers (aside from Crankies) have 1 voice and Cranky villagers have 1 voice

• The basic idea is to fill your island with plants and furniture, as Isabelle usually suggests. So if she says to add flowers, do it - or at least, wait for them to be fully bloomed (to get the max points from them) ; Same thing if she hints at adding furniture.

Hey guys, my wife and I were wanting to change our time zone BACK so that the in game time works better for the current hours that we play. I already know that backwards time travel will keep our island the same and we really wouldn’t lose anything outside of turnip related things. What I was wondering about is, say our house upgrades “tomorrow” (which is actually today in 2 hours for our current in game time). If we wait until “tomorrow” in two hours, our house will upgrade. Now if we do backwards time travel and it changes back to “yesterday” will our house downgrade back to what it was before and would we have to wait until it changed to “tomorrow” again? Also we just got 3 star rating yesterday as well and I don’t want it to mess with the K.K. concert or anything.

I prefer to sneak up on them by swimming toward them using just the joystick (don't press A), then dive when my character is on top of them, but others have had success chasing the critter into the net corner as it forces them to turn around. Both work.

I'm actually facing the same problem. Solution is to cut down a bunch of trees and stunt them at stage 4. Only full grown trees count towards your tree count. So having some smaller variety trees allows you to exceed the tree cap and allows you to make more vivid scenes if you do it right.

You MUST have an unsold, empty plot available to invite a villager from another player's island, or to find villagers on mystery islands (and you can only invite one villager from a mystery island per day). A villager in boxes, or a house with the "I moved out" sign is NOT an empty plot.

I don’t just mean the class sizes I mean how on earth do you tell them apart. I am sick of fishing up black bases while trying to catch a stringfish.

There are 5 size plus some special. You unfortunately need to get used to those sizes, so you will be able to easier find out which shadow you have. The special shadows have fins or are very long

It’s pretty hard to tell the difference to be completely honest. String fish shadows are the largest size shadow and the difference is noticeable but your best bet is to just use fish bait and scare away anything that isn’t a large shadow

like mango said that method won't work since the cool down is at least 15 days before another villager will ask to move out, and your most recent villager can't ask to move out either. if you want to replace that villager that just moved in, you can kick them either with a campsite villager or amiibo villager. otherwise, you're going to have to move someone else out first, get another new villager to move in, and then try the moveout method on the target villager

Unfortunately you can not move houses without putting down a moving kit. But you can always "imagine" it before selecting it. And you can move them as many times as you like once your resident service building is fully built.

I do have the full residents service building I just cant decide how I want to set my island up because I already put down a bunch of things and it would cost alot and I also dont know how paving works. Like to I have to idividually put down each Custon path on the ground and then go out of the phone and then move and then go back in a put another one down?

Once you reach 3 stars and unlock the island designer, it gets a bit easier because you can pave a little quicker. But before that, yes, the only way to do it is with the phone one at a time.
