I imported my switch user data from A to B, but i don’t think that did anything.

Should I restart my island?
When restarting, you will lose all of your DIYs and catalog. The start of the game is very tedious and people tend to forget this when resetting.
It is easier to remove everything and flatten your island.
Restart only if you don't like the position of your RS, airport, river ends, northern beach, etc.

i’m gonna move off my brother’s (hot dog 99) island into a new Nintendo Lite- i read that i can transfer data to the new island, but the hot dog 99 island isn’t backed up-

am i still able to transfer my resident data to a new island with no problem?

Yes, there should be no issue. The island backup feature is Nintendo's online cloud service, different from the resident data stuff. As you'll be transferring the resident. It should be how your resident is as of the most recent save of the game file

Yeah don't worry, save data is still saved to the switch with the island backup disabled. The cloud back up is there just in case your switch were to break for example and Nintendo can then transfer your data to a new switch if that happened

• Accessories: can be replaced by gifting them 24 'non-glasses' accessories (Villagers won't wear these, e.g. bubblegum)
• Caps (not helmets): Caps in the game are tagged either as free or womanly. Male villagers will only use caps tagged as free and gifting them 24 womanly caps will replace other caps from their storage. Since female villagers can use both types of caps, the only way to remove them is when they approach you to sell/gift/trade in the item.
