1. is there certain requirements for villagers to start getting into fights? marina and stella just got into the first fight i’ve ever seen on my island
2. is there certain requirements for them to start giving you nicknames and changing your catchphrases? marina let me change her catchphrase almost a month ago, i got her when those 3 villagers moved in for a total of 5. stella has changed my nickname twice, i got her after removing one of my original 5. i’ve had them both for awhile, but i’ve also had filbert the exact same amount of time as marina. i talk to them all about the same amount.

Yes that is normal, sorry I am very confused. There is an actual list of fish in the critterpedia app and you can check if you have caught all available fish types for the season. If you use specific names of fish it would be easy to help. Also you catch different type of fish based on where you fish, rivers, ponds, sea, river mouth, pier.

Oh and also cliff top (tier 2 or above) river.

Oh ok, then Giant Trevally, Mahi mahi, Blue Marlin are pier only fish, have you tried fishing on the pier using fish bait? That's really the only way to catch them. They are rare so if you catch say 50 fish you might land a couple of these.

Arowana and arapaima are river and arapaima is 4pm to 9am only.

Whale shark should be somewhat easy to spot (the fin) in the sea.

Not sure why you'd think that would make the fish not nip and leave quicker. I have an SH island (set to Pacific Time zone) and my wife has an NH island (also set to Pacific timezone) and both of us have caught all fish and completed the critterpedia.

I just want to emphasize that the fish that nip and leave quicker are indeed the rarer ones so you are just really missing them.
