Are you referring to the mentions of how wide the furniture is? Like furniture that is 3 block wide?

That’s just the size of the furniture. One block refers to one tile space. So it’s equal to the size of one hole that you would dig with your shovel. If you’re having trouble visualizing it, just dig 3 holes in a row and you’ll see how wide the furniture should roughly be to meet that requirement

you can get all critters, you just need to mind your weather, time of the day, season and where you look

some critters have very small time where they are available, some only on certain places, and then of course not all are available all year

if you don't want to wait you can try time traveling

there’s no way to make a specific villager want to leave, it’s random. If a villager you want to stay asks to leave, either close the game before leaving the convo and wait a day for a dif villager to want to leave, or ask them to stay and 5 days later a new villager will ask

from what i’ve seen there’s also a restriction where only about 12 can grow in a certain distance from each other and to get more in a close area you have to move them afterwards

You do have to talk to them at least once in their island life but that's it. I recommend avoiding KK/events days. It could take 10 minutes or 10 hours so keep your expectations low & take breaks, bc making a villager move out on purpose is very tedious

Lief will sell crops you can plant. The turtle takes you on boat tours for only 1000 points instead of 2000 for a NMT. He also has a chance of going to a rare island or going to a vine/moss island with a diy beach bottle

Hi, I finally got this game and a switch after YEARS of waiting. I found out that online services have a paywall (which I absolutely hate, as it was all free on 3ds). I wonder if, connecting locally with a nearby friend, still requires the online subscription.
On another note, do y'all think Online is important for gameplay? Now I'm stuck at the first steps like cleaning the island and I don't see much use in Online honestly

If you have friends that have the game, the only thing you might want is to take all fruits to be able to plant and have some more. you can't get all fruits unless you trade. Other than that, if you want to use custom designs from other players you'd need online, and of course to visit people not in the same room as you. otherwise you don't need Online

You need to enable NookLink for both islands. So it sounds like you need to set up NookLink on the one it’s not showing up for (press the minus button from the title screen > follow the prompts for NookLink).

Then, whenever you need to use the chat feature, you’ll need to go in your Nintendo Switch Online app (irl phone), go to Settings > Change Players

Ah yep, that’ll do it. You’ll have to either get someone else to move out first so that they’re no longer your most recent, or try to replace them with a campsite visitor (regular or Amiibo)

Yes, the first camper will always be a smug, he will appear the day after the camping is built.
• Do I need an empty plot for campers after the first camper?
If you don't have 10 villagers yet you need to place a plot for the camper to be able to move in.
If you already have 10 the camper will replace a random villager, that will immediately be in boxes once you've agreed.

How do I check if a villager is gifted heavily, or lightly?

if theyre heavily gifted theyll have major changes to their typical house and wear different clothing

lightly usually implies only a minimal amount of changes to interior

no definitive way to check though since thats a player term the community made up, if ur trading feel free to ask for a picture of the current interior and see how gifted they are

There's no real way unless they visibly display gifted clothes & furniture which they don't always do. You can check their wardrobe most than once which will show up to 3 different gifted clothes. Otherwise if you're picking up a villager from someone else you just go with what they say

This depends on if they were gifited items or not. If they were gifited furniture, there's a good chance they will have it in their home. Same goes with clothing.

However, if they were NOT gifted any items and/or clothing, then yes, they will show their starter interior.

That all depends on how much they like the items they were given. The more they like it, the higher the chance they will show it in their house.

But the only exception is fossils. They will NEVER show them in their house.

Why does a completely random villager come to my island when I kick another one out?

It apparently came from a player-made island or something, since it mentioned it came from an island (the island’s name was highlighted in pink)

when a villager leave you are only garanteed a free plot for one day. Then it might automatically fill.
If you play online, you have even more chances for them to fill. There is the concept of "void" or move in/out queues. if you let a villager move out without them being adopted, they move to your move out queue.
When you visit someone's island they might hope into your moving in queue. If this queue isn't empty, the villager in the queue will move in the next day.
For example let's say you have a Friend Abby, she "voided" Bob (let him move out without being adopted), if you visit Abby, for a trade, youy might get Bob in your move in queue. if you have an empty plot for more than a day, Bob will move in

you can have up to 4 villagers in your move in queue

When the game generates the items for the next day, weeds are placed before rocks. So you need to prevent the spawn of more weeds, by placing a large number of them somewhere else on your island (the cap is 300)
Then weeds should stop taking those spaces and, if they are fit for it, rocks should spawn there

After you get 3* you will get a call from Harv to take pictures for a wedding. Take whatever pictures (doesn't matter how good/bad they are) and finish that part (you can get special wedding items by completing this as well) and then a few days later you should get another call from Harv, once you do, you can visit his island and open up all of the markets/stalls/whatever you want to call them.

They are 100k bells each (pricey) but worth it. Redd's stall is one of them and he has 2 new pieces of art every day (could be fake) and if both are fake, in order to switch them out the next day you have to buy one of the fakes. Only downside of Redd being there.

If you drop them in your house or on a table, it doesn't take away island points, unless you like having a high HHA score in your house. Dropping them on the ground counts as mess, but on tops of things is fine

I think there was a glitch a couple years back where if you went into co-op mode (on one switch), put an item on a table and one person constantly rotated it while the other was picking it up, it would duplicate it. Though its probably patched by now so this probably wasnt any help

Go to talk to tom inside of residence services and select let’s talk about infrastructure. Then choose you want layout changes and from there you choose whether you want to move an island home (villagers) or the other buildings (excluding residence services as it cannot be moved)

Time traveling does not reverse / rewind progress. You still keep all the progress, items, etc. that you've completed / acquired even if you time travel backwards.
