Hey, Im asking this here because Im not a part of any other game dev servers, but is there any sort of engine/language that uses block programming that can be used for a game jam? I have a decent amount of experience with unity, however my friend has never touched any scripted programming languages. I dont mind teaching him some stuff, but he is probably going to have to start with some surface level stuff. I dont plan on making anything spectacular, just want to have fun with friends, and this guy is the first one of my friends that has shown any kind of interest in game dev. Any suggestions?

Hey guys, this was my team's entry into the GMTK 2024 game jam. If you play games, I'd appreciate if you checked it out.
Play Avant Barde! A game physics platformer where your goal is to bring your Bard Of Brothers back together! (As much as we tried, we could not fix a bug at the end, but it's still fully playable. The bug happens right as it's supposed to transition to end credits)
If anyone interested trying our game for GMTK game jam
@fiery jolt Don't repost here. You've already posted that.
I like how the ogre turned around, epic
Hello friends! My indie team, Raisin Games joined the **GMTK 2024 Game Jam **this weekend and we're very proud to present the game we've created:
Gobba Ladder.
Gobba Ladder is a bottom to top platformer game where you play as Gobba The Goblin, you scale your ladder to different platforms to escape the chomping mecha dragon.
You can play the game in your browsers (no need to download), using the link below:

In our top-down game you scale game window to deal with enemies! 🎮
If you like it, comment it! 😉

I couldn't find a solution to make a singular line break for the description
how do you guys do this? Excuse me if this is off topic
Sshift+Enter instead of just enter?
i know that works across almost every major text editor
I think the description field in itchio is just buggy
edit the html
Hey! I just finished my second game jam, I would love any suggestions or comments!
Play my game:
https://aboutalebdev.itch.io/void-runner
i think it would be interesting to add more obstacles and maybe upgrade pickups or something or an ability that clears the screen but you get no score and you have to shoot enough obstacles to reload it
great idea. Thats something I haven't thought of yet, I would love to try adding it. thanks
did a horror game jam!

Hi! I'm part of a team of 9 people, and we're looking for a Unity gameplay programmer for Brackeys 2024.2
https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-12
We're planning to go for the full week of the jam, and we currently have 3 programmers
We're a subset of the 23 person group that made https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2024/rate/2888872 for this year's GMTK
We're gonna be doing a 2D game, as we primarily have 2D artists
If you're interested, send a portfolio link in my DMs! And maybe share which theme you're hoping for :D
If you have additional skills or experience, definitely share them as well!
oh damn 23 people? How did that work out for a 3 days game 0_0
It was 4 days this year
And it went pretty well! We learned a TON, and we know how to do significantly better next time. And even despite a bunch of mistakes we still reached top 7%!
wasn't keeping the git repo consistent across that many people, each commiting semi-constantly a problem? did you have a strategy?
Man, i couldn't manage git across five people over a jam
anyone to brainstorm a bit for the brackeys calm before the storm jam?
a horror esk game with quiet ambience at the begining of the game and gets more chaotic the more you progress
What esk mean?
Like ish,
What i meant to say a horror-like game
i think its esque instead of esk

hey there, I really want to participate in some game jams, but I never really know when something's going on.. What are ways to get notified about upcoming game jams?
This has a schedule
https://itch.io/jams
But there are the popular ones like Global, Ludum Dare and ones based off popular streamers like GMTK, Brackeys etc., that you can just look up to see when the next will be.
itch.io
awesome! how about finding groups for a game jam? where would I ask or find a team?
Usually large jams have discords set up. Otherwise, most people go with people they know already.
(or do it solo)
I recently did the Kenney jam solo, it was just easier/faster since the art used could only be Kenney's assets, so it solved that role
people usually ask in the discord server.
or you can find community tab in the jam page
Hey i was wondering if you wanna do other jams too.
Sure do
I'm a beginner tho
Shoud i send you message?
Sure

Need a Little Support—Ludum Dare 56 🐜❤️
Hey everyone! I just released my first game for Ludum Dare 56, but I ran into a little problem—tags on Itch.io aren't working, so it's hard to find my game. 😅 I’ve contacted support, but it's been two days with no reply.
If you don't believe me, try searching for my game on Itch.io by its name—Sweet Home?—and you won't find it!
In the meantime, I’d love it if you could check out my game and maybe leave some feedback. It would really mean a lot! 🙏
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/sweet-home
Thanks so much, and I hope you enjoy it! 😊
Possibly because you used the name of a well known existing game?
don't think so ! I think that maybe it's because I changed my nickname, but I'm not sure that's the issue, while I'm waiting for an answer from support, why is that?
I've never heard of this "well known" game
Resident Evil started out as a sweet home remake before Capcom lost the rights
So perhaps 'well known in gamedev' might be more accurate.
hey guys, i entered a horror game jam a while ago and while my game wasnt the best i felt the comments on it were very pleasing and unhelpful. could you check out my game and provide feedback if ya can? its like 5-8 minutes. https://terafri.itch.io/darkness-with-in-the-shadows
With the crazy games x unity jam starting soon I wanted to ask can we start with already existing projects or do we have to start completely fresh? I didn’t see anything in the rules about it
Well, the theme isn't announced until November 1st, but there's not reason you couldn't start prepping a project I suppose.
Hey all I used unity and the rpgmaker unite verified asset in the asset store for the RpgMakerThemeJam6 game jam on itch to really see what a unity dev could do with RPGM Unite. I'll be doing a devlog soon on how I used the asset and my thoughts overall. Check out the entry! https://lochraleon.itch.io/the-northsong-rift
I would recommend stopping by the CrazyGames Discord channel and checking in on the rules with them directly! 🙂 There is a ton of activity going on over there, so it'd be a great resource to explore.

if you're going to use ai generated content to help advertise your jam you should probably make sure there aren't dozens of individual distortions in each image
I guess they either didn't know how to check for that, didn't look over the image very well, or just didn't care.
why dont ppl ping for @/gamejammers here?
also yikes for that promotial image, using ai to promote an event that is about being creative isnt a good look already
is the crazy web jam for us or its just unity folks?
What does that mean? 🤔
iam beginner and iam looking for another beginner to participate in a gamejam together
yall i got a game jam coming up in January i wanna participate in and im soon learning stuff of unity 2d with my school (game dev university school typa thing so yea) and so im asking this early bc i love to gather info on everything even far before its happening.
Its gonna be my first time joining a game jam which may be obvious, its gonna be 48 hours on a weekend so limited time and i will need to see how im gonna plan sleeping in that time but oh well.
ANYWAYS, for all the game jammers here, any tips for my first game jam? how to prepare, tips for what to do during the jam etc?
Practice is important. Make sure you know how to implement all aspects of the project, including sound. Creating small complete test projects, like a mini jam will help a lot. And leave enough time for polish and bug fixes, project should be finished well before dead line, there will be a lot of stuff that come up.
hmmm, sounds good, though tbf, i dont have anyone who has expirience atm nor any potential teammates besides one that isnt as far with the class thing as i am
im like at double the progress he is at

Hope to see some of you there! 🤓

hi guys!! im gonna be participating in a game jam for the first time :D altho i will be the artist, not programmer
i'm honestly really nervous, it will probably be very stressful
48 hours only also
but also excited
Hope you win
Be careful, I was supposed to be only doing art in my first jam and I ended up doing basically all of the coding =p
Hi guys im looking for someone im a programmer like a beginner/general level. I want to participate in game jam because well i want to
like anyone we can split tasks i can create menu and some stuff you can do the other. and preferably, 2d/3d i haven't use unity for a long time either. this is my first game jam.

HI HI ok so its over and ur so right LMAO along with art + animations i did the sound design, music choice and video editing 😭🙏 thankfully our dev was skilled and did all coding without any help haha
we won 3rd place btw!
i got a razer microphone
not bad for a country that never funds gaming/art
we were told to submit our game for incubation/global jam
we didnt have many mechanics but they liked the art and story
Congrats

`🍈`・❏・Open to __everyone__ during the jam, with specific prizes for each of 3 categories!
`🍉`・**A CASH PRIZE POOL** of **$750+** total + many other prizes!
Rules are pretty much the same as MelonJam 5. Things to note, especially if you're new:

- The theme is announced at the start of the jam, and you must follow it.
- No generative AI is allowed in any form (AI art, code, music, etc.)

Changes from MelonJam 5

hello, I am looking for folks who would like to do some game jams, starting next month and hopefully further on. Doesn't matter to me what you do exactly, but I'll invite you to the server and from there we'll figure out what teams we have and what is left open for us to look for to fill out.
you should look at game jams on itch.io in the timeline and join their servers to find people.
I kid you not, @itch.io has been taken down by Funko of "Funko Pop" because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called Brand Shield that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain

Using itch is not an option at the moment.
I knew Funko Pop was up to no good
To be fair this is mostly on BrandShield, who gets hired by lots of companies to "protect their value".
There's no telling if Funko even knows about it yet.
Create a thread or repost in #1157336089242112090 if you want to discuss this, please.

works for me
itch.io
Its back
Fuck this AI garbage
BrandShield should get sued into the ground every time its AI makes shit up so companys get rid of this ai garbage
Itch obviously
Since that was the topic in here
I wonder if itch sellers could team up to initiate a small claim simultaneously with BrandShield for lost sales. Let them try to handle 10K claims at once. And would give them a mass load of lost cases that can be used as fodder against them in the future. But the logistics and cost for the independents would be quite significant.
If you're looking to scratch that jam itch, RPG Mania XI starts in just a few short days! oh kk, my bad. i'll keep that in mind next time
Ngl, I think the game idea from the Unity stream today is going to be pretty good. I hope they can pull off the rougelike element of it.
What was it?
You start in a "safe" bubble and have to explore out from it to find other versions (different ages) of yourself and bring them back. The roguelike element would be if your 'failed' attempts would leave a version of you that would help you branch out further. IDK if that's a great description, but that's the idea. Worth watching the stream.
One of the jammers here from the stream! For people curious about what we streamed about, here's the VOD - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCn5Nrc6cko
I have a couple of days to lay down the base interactions/systems then it's off to a festival for me to host my own Global Game Jam site, so stay tunedddddd. 😎 (Also, thanks for always being super supportive @tender basalt! @teal ravine and all of us here see you!)

@frigid cove Gotta support the things you are passionate about! Thanks for all the great stuff you guys have been putting out. It's been a huge source of inspiration for me to keep working towards my goals.
Hey! Where do you guys get your SFX?
I often used epidemic sounds, coupled with zapsplat, pixabay and some other sites that are less known (and that I do not remember)
My problem is that apart from epidemic sounds (and it requires paying), the other sites (free) options have not a lot to offer. If someone knows a site that has a lot of different high-quality free sounds, I'm all ears
OpenGameArt usually (it should really be renamed to OpenGameAudio ;p)
otherwise if I can find some compilation on itchio
thanks :)
I know about the site but never really trusted it
Hi everyone. I am looking for a 3D artist for my project for Bigmode Game Jam 2025. If you want to join the team, write to me in DM
Hi everyone! Will there be more info/recommendations shared for those joining the GGJ Unity site remotely?
Hiya! I'd like to join the game jam channel for global game jam, is there one?
They have a Discord for GGJ, you'll have to look it up as I can't post links
I host monthly game jams with a small community I created in Montreal. We get together a few days later to demo the game at an eSports bar
"host" is a strong word: the devs have from Friday night until Tuesday evening to develop the themed games, I more host the demo night
That looks fun
It's a super fun time! One guy participated in the global game jam a few weeks ago and in a weekend he managed to make such a moving 15 ish minute game. It left all of us heartbroken and amazed.
Jams are my jam too. I actually manage to win this year's Kenney Jam in just a weekend, without pulling an all nighter. Was super proud of that.
that sounds so fun!!!
Hey yall,
I'm currently in search of expanding my team for the Brackey's Game Jam 2025.1, it begins on Feb 16 and is 7 days long. Currently we have 4 programmers, 2 artists, and a composer. I am primarly in search of someone skilled in 3D art, preferably in Blender. lmk if you're interested.
Hello!! My team and i are currently looking into starting the MGGJ (itch.io) this next week. If anyone is interested in joining our team, we would love to make a wave clear 2.5 game in a month - and if you text me i can tell you more about it and share my portfolio! ❤️
what's a 2.5 game
a game where the entire game is in 3d, but the visual aspect is in 2d
at elast in our game!
Link the jam?
Hi! I am looking for someone to team up for future game jams (goal is the GMTK game jam, but we can do something earlier). I m not very advanced and want to have fun while expanding my skills. I'm looking for a graphic designer, preferably but everyone is welcome to team up. Text me pv.
@frigid pebble This is the Unity server, thanks.

Hi, there is a game jam theme of "break the system". any game ideas about that theme?
why not take it literally and make it so that the player can “break” the game (e.g. user interfaces)?
use gpt

Hellou, a friend and I are participating in the Brackeys GameJam, we are two developers tho so we lack artistic skills. Is anyone down to join us for this week to work on some assets? Completely for funsies, it's a one week jam and my friend is quite new to unity too
Assets don't really need to be professional either, so if you are starting and want to practice managing the art direction and building some assets, it's the perfect opportunity!
I'm not a master either, but I can model som simple stuff
Cool!
i could help too
Please read the pinned post guidelines and create a thread with a link to the game jam.
How do i know when im ready for a game jam? Can i enter a jam for my first ever game? do any other sites offer jams or is that a itchio only thing?
As you may tell, i overthink things. not sure if this goes here?
you dont need anything specific to be ready for a game jam. the whole point of game jams is so that no one is ready and can build and change things as they go. unless stated otherwise, game jams are intended for people of all skill levels, even those who have 0 experience. itch is the main way to find and enter jams, but sometimes hosts of jams will host them on different or custom sites
My first completed game was for a jam, at least.
And if you don't finish, you'll have learned stuff.
hey guys, just joined here, I'm making my first 3d game after some experience with 2d games. was wondering if anyone has some nice human models for the player?
Are you in a game jam right now?
Hi guys, I'm new here
Is there a thread to show my unity made game so ppl can test it out?
Me and friend made it
Thank you
Upcoming jam tied to an asset service I use: https://itch.io/jam/one-filebase-to-rule-them-all
Hi there!
There is an upcoming game jam taking place in Islamabad, Pakistan. We are looking for interested sponsors.
The game jam will take place as part of one of Pakistan's premier tech events: NaSCon in Fast NU
If anyone is from around the region and is interested, reach out to me and I'd love to discuss details!
What is a game jam?
See pinned messages.
I am hosting my first game jam! Although it's definitely a bit different than most jams haha.
The primary goal of 'Main Menu Madness' is to be a short, low stakes event to focus on making great game menus- whether that's solo or with a team. Because menus are often crucial yet not the most glamorous aspect of gamedev, this jam is an opportunity to work on this and tackle these challenges that come with making a polished/professional menu that you can be proud of while being able to get feedback or advice from others doing the same thing! I hope to see you there! https://itch.io/jam/main-menu-madness
Are gamejams a good way to motivate yourself to actually begin making a game
Or are there better ways
I just learned from chat gpt what an actual game jam is, and now that I understand, this is actually very fun!!
But, do I need to be at least medium experienced to participate on one? Can't I participate with very basic knowledge?
There are no skill requirements to participate
hello when is the next jame planned ?
It's not a single event, there are many constantly running.

It took a lot of work to make that happen
do a multiplayer game with spacetimedb
Well honestly I've never programmed a game yet because I don't know how to model
well you could use the game jam to learn some modeling or just pull in assets - the upside is our SDK also already has player avatars set up, so you can work around that!
I'll for sure look into it, thanks!

Each team is encouraged to assign a Project Lead to stay focused and ensure things get delivered.

The GameChangers Summit 2025 is a free, two-day, hands-on workshop happening in New York City this September at NYU. Students, game developers, and industry experts will work together to design tools and games that promote safer, more positive digital spaces. It’s open to high school juniors and seniors, as well as college students, and participants will receive a certificate of completion from NYU. There’s also a chance for some teams to receive grant funding to continue their projects. Free meals will be provided throughout the event.

Hi i made this game and 4 days for the GMTK jam please check it out (pls)
I made this game in 3 days in the GMTK GameJam and I would like you to test and review it 🙂
Hey everyone,
Me and a friend made a small game using unity for a jam recently, but we didn’t manage to upload a working build in time. We had to delete our submission, which kind of sucked — but we didn’t want to throw the whole thing away, so we took a bit of extra time, fixed the bugs, and released a proper post-jam version.
The game is called Five Minutes To Die. It’s a short pixel art platformer with light horror vibes. You have five minutes to escape a collapsing lab, and dying resets the loop — but you keep the knowledge from your previous runs. There are no enemies, just traps, locked doors, and a bit of trial and error.
It’s pretty short (about 5–10 minutes to beat), and I’d really appreciate any feedback — especially on level design, pacing, clarity of the objective, or just overall feel. I also added a couple of guitar tracks to the soundtrack last minute — curious if it works.

How do I start a game jam
Find one you want to join, and join it following their rules.
I meant create one
You can do that however you want. Itch.io is a popular platform for hosting it, alongside using a Discord server for communication.
Anyone wanna team up with a gamejam?
hey guys i need ur opinion im making a horror game where you go buy groceries at midnight you basically doing ur stuff and the store owner suddenly turns into monster. should i keep her as a human like a serial killer instead of her turning into a monster to kill you ?
it reminds of among us shapeshifter role
Research states the scariest thing you can do is something 'normal' but has something slightly off about it. Like imagine being chased by a little old lady, but she can run fast all of a sudden. It's potentially normal, but slightly off to be unnerving
im doing a game jam and I can't think of anything good for the game idea. Would it be okay to ask others for help thinking of ideas or do people usually want only the people actually in the team doing that? Like could I ask for ideas here or would that be "cheating"?
there's no specific rule about it in this game jam i just don't know what the common ruling is on this
No harm in brainstorming, keep the game within your realms of possibility, and just enjoy the time
so by no harm in brainstorming you mean no harm in others helping brainstorm?
No harm in you asking for help for ideas, and no harm helping others either
ok cool thank you
well
the theme for this jam is "incomplete", anyone have any unique ideas?
(joke) submit one script and say I didn't manage to finish the rest
my friend (who is planning on helping me make the game) suggested just submitting a black screen 😭
Why don't you do what you can and use the theme not just literal but have a game about leaving things incomplete.
Like not finishing the art or features? or something else?
So you know the game tic-tac-toe or noughts and crosses, how you get 3 X or O in a row you win. When it gets to 2 in a row game finishes etc
interesting, how would I do this for a game that doesn't already exist or would it have to be a game that's already known like tic tac toe?
You don't have to do a game that doesn't exist, put your own spin on the concept. Look at how many variations of 'Solitaire' there are, 3D tic tac toe for example could be a thing
hey can i propose a game jam idea
If you keep her as a human its more realistic than keeping her as a monster. It depends of the feeling you want to pass to the players.
Personally, I would keep her as a human not a monster because it doesn't make sense.
Alr thanks for the suggestion I'll keep her as a human but give her some super natural vibe
Game Jam idea: Make a game using only cubes. Everything, exception for non physical objects (like scripts, audio or even UI). Time: 3 days
Just a few days before the next Bezi Jam!
i feel the serial killer mainly works if you're going to make them have done or do crazy things in the past, which would make it more serious. I'm not sure if you want to go that route.
Compared to making her a little monsterous, her backstory doesn't have to be too crazy. It could be just scary itself.
Your jam has nothing to do with Unity.
It is built on Unity
Hi everyone I made this copmpute shader game in Unity for Patch Notes 1.0 game jam with Indieformer. Check it out , it's a good compute shader demo, let me know what you think! https://becool3000.itch.io/a-million-tiny-horses-dancing-in-space
Hello ! I'm hosting a game jam in a few days where you can make and submit a game that acts as a part of a fully fledged game, whether it's a cutscene, a menu or even a boss fight, have fun and make it make sense !

⏳ You’ll have 6 days to bring your idea to life.

Hello, new week, new gimmick, this time it's cards ! Very Vague kinda like a theme.. enjoy !
Made this game for the Jamsepticeye jam and i'm very proud of it - did procedural generation from scratch for it, with randomized enemies/spawning/etc. If someone plays it, message me and let me know what you think ! I'd also love to hear if you come up with some strats or upgrade choices to get to max rank quickly !
Hi, me and my girlfriend worked really hard together to make a point-and-click narrative game (with minigames!) called Until Then.
This game was made for the Jamsepticeye jam and we would love it if people gave it a try, and give us some feedback.
thank you!
Cool visual design 🙂
Thank you so much! So happy hearing these kind of comments
Hey 🙂 just submitted my LD58 entry: KWICC PIK
It's Jenga in space but you're a space goblin with poor impulse control and you’re stealing space cargo from corpos before the corpo-cops arrives.

im looking to work with someone. i have been learning a few months but its more fun working with someone
is there a place to dump images and videos of my half finished game jam stuffs? feels like a waste just letting it all go to... waste

Hey everyone! I’m putting together a small team for this year’s GitHub Game Off, and we’re looking for someone experienced with VR development to join us.
I handle UX/UI design and 2D art (menus, HUDs, etc). My teammate covers 3D modeling and asset creation. We’re aiming to produce a small VR experience that’s fun to play.
We'd love someone comfortable with VR development (Unity), and able to collaborate on a month long jam timeline (November-December).
If this sounds like you (or if you know someone who might fit) drop a comment or DM me!
Here's some of my previous work, and my itch:

Hello, I've made a new game for a jam submission "Thailand Horror Jam" with a theme of "Sign" > v<💫
the game's a anomaly surviving game similiar to Exit8/ Night Drive
feels free to try it out! :>
You can use #1429766624403132416 , that category is specifically for the Unity gamejam.
can i participate in unity jam with the version unity 6000.0.58f2 or do i need the newest version
Bet you can use any unity as you want… especially 6.x series 😉
Please keep the anniversary jam conversation to the #archived-jam-chat-20yrs2025 and adjacent channels. But any version that has since been patched with the security fix (so, basically 6.2).
Looking to join in a team for Gamejam (I'm a Developer)
Hello 👋
How does this work then? - does unity release the assets and then we form our own teams?
Hi! We could really use a developer for the GameOff 2025 jam (the theme is waves). We have til 01.12 to finish. The GDD is almost finished. Contact me if you're interested
If you're posting here, you need to specify which jam you're participating in. If it's related to the Unity anniversary jam, then #1429766624403132416 is where you can recruit.
Please keep topics related to the anniversary jam in #archived-jam-chat-20yrs2025. But no, there are no in-person events.
Apologies. This Discord is a bit complex to navigate at first heh. I selected the "Game Jams" role when I came here, but that role doesn't show the Anniversary Jam threads (this is the only jam-related thread it shows.)
For future people: To find all the Anniversary Jam threads, click on "Channels & Roles", then "Browse Channels"
true I only found it thanks to this haha
👋
@small dove This is not a game jam entry, stop posting that here.
my bad 😭
Hey, I'm gonna be participating in a jam this Feb with 2 friends who haven't been in a jam before, one of which has never touched a game engine in the first place. How should we prepare and what should I expect for the jam? I normally dev solo, so it'll be nice to do it with some friends but I also don't want to spend the whole time teaching/doing all the work for them
They don't have art/music skills so I'll probably be doing the art for the jam but I also worry they'll be able to program or not with unity since they haven't touched the engine before (they know java which idk how easily that carries into C# + unity)
Hello, we have submitted a game to Unity20 game jam, and now the submissions are closed but we would like to update our game page with a webGL build, are we allowed to do this?
AAAH I couldn't submit our project, i was too late
It depends on jam rules. Some allow, some can disqualify. Ask organizers in #archived-jam-chat-20yrs2025
thank you ill ask there
I missed the jam the upload was too slow, : (

Seeking 3D Modeler (Urgent, One-Week Jam Deadline)
Hi everyone. Our team is looking for a 3D modeler who can jump in immediately and help finalize a small set of stylized models for our month-long jam. We’re in the final stretch and need someone reliable who can work quickly and communicate clearly so we can wrap the environment before Thanksgiving (our current modeler is having difficulties at the moment).
What we need:
- A conveyor belt, with the belt segmented out for the development team.
- A cabin room, supposed to be Santa's Workshop
Both would need basic modeling, topology, and low poly. We'd also appreciate the ability to give daily or every-other-day updates so we can keep the room on schedule.
Timeline:
- Ideally completed between now and Thanksgiving
- The earlier you can start, the better
If you’re interested, please DM me with your availability over the next few days! We’d love to bring someone on who’s excited to collaborate and can help us finish strong.
Will try 👍

Hey everyone! Just like aemc64, after taking part in Unity’s 20th Anniversary Game Jam, we joined a French game jam with the theme "snowy summer" and after three days of hard work, we created: Sunbreeze
https://qualqun.itch.io/sunbreeze
(Take a look on my portfolio 😄 https://www.hbenhafsa.com/en/sunbreeze )
Hello fellow humans! I've never been particularly good at showcasing or sharing my work with others, so here I am looking to correct that flaw.
A little over a month ago, I hosted a game jam for some friends and colleagues, and I produced Ashvalan and released a demo on itch.io. As a solo dev and programming-focused individual, I rarely work in 2D. I would love to get your opinions and feedback on the game!
In this short, replay-driven combat experience, you play as the boss at the end of a dungeon, facing a single hero who refuses to stay defeated. Each time they return, the hero grows smarter, faster, and more relentless.

Sure. You need to post which jam you're doing.
where is there a role for it tho?
What role? If you're doing a game jam and looking for people to join, you need to link which jam you're intending to do with the request so people know what they're joining.
i dont see a role that require me to do so so thats means i dont have to

What is a game jam
Where you enter a competition to create a game around a specific scene
Its like a friendly match or competition where you create a game around a Theme.
Your games will be played by others and you can play their game.
Hackathon for game developers
A game jam is a kind of friendly competition where game devs work together or alone to make games before a certain deadline, the genre sometimes depends on the game jam co-ordinators, if you want go on itch.io and search for brackeys game jam and join it is starting in a few days hope that answered your question.
they’re not even in the server you’re replying to nothing
Anyone know when the next game jam is?
I'm new to game development and recently have been working on a voxel engine for procedurally generated planets. I'm into space themed video games if that helps. @latent lake

Hey everyone! I hope you're all as hyped for this jam as I am. I'm a developer jumping into this event and I'm already deep in planning mode — but before I spin up my engine and start blocking out scenes, I need to get one critical thing straight.
My question is simple but it changes everything about how I approach this project:
Is this game jam 2D, is it 3D, or are BOTH fair game?
Because honestly, if it's open to both, I've got completely different pipelines, asset workflows, and scope estimates
Both are allowed
It’s completely your choice
TWO days until the Jam begins, I hope to see y'all there! https://itch.io/jam/feverdream-game-jam3

So whats this then?
A channel for when GGJ happens I presume?
The name is kind of self explanatory :P
Im going to GGJ NL
Enschede x(
:c
with some friends we are setting up a special group to use the new Unity Playground framework (https://github.com/Unity-Technologies/UnityPlayground ) with kids&teens for the GGJ, please let me know if you are going to do the same.. we have a special discord team for letting the kids work and talk with the tutors
Kids are the new indie developers now
I'm sure @woven steppe will be happy to hear you're using the playground project @plucky ether !
@charred gazelle Getting kids/teens involved in game development is great, I wish I had the same level of tools/resources around when I was in school
yes, @rigid otter we know @woven steppe who is already aware and in our server 😃
That's brilliant
hope it all goes well
For everyone competing in the jam, reach out to unity customer support/sales and ask politely for a temporary license for unity plus/pro. I've had success in the past with Ludumdare's. Super cool to have licensed features for a game jam team.
Which features do really help in the jam???
noup its for the GGJ
Global Game Jam
its the world-wide biggest game jam, from 25/01 to 27/01
Seems nice 😄
@sand sluice gets it 😃
I can't wait until I'm able to afford Unity Plus :^)
Are there real differences though in Unity Plus?
Afaik its mainly just the 'no splash screen' and dark theme
And I really want dark theme
Light theme all the way.
More cloud storage, discounts on assets, ad monetization
are you kidding me???? 25 U$D per month just for a black theme???
lol none of those are that expensive on their own 😛
Well, I think it's more for the legal stuff than the feature's.
Ya. I wont buy it until I'm actually making money with Unity and need to get rid of that nasty splash screen for my products
idk, the splash screen isnt that bad xD
The thing I've with the splash screen is that it doesn't seem professional. Like, in which game do you even see that?
You see a lot of games, AAA included that have splash screens displaying the engine and middleware they used in their title (a lot of which are likely due to contract/license terms of their use) - the difference is the connotations. Unity amongst gamers has gotten itself a bad reputation because of a lot of the asset-flips or shovelware put out by some devs. Splash screens inherently aren't a bad thing, they can make a project seem more reputable, professional, legit, etc in some cases - it's just dependent on what the splash screen is showing.
It's unfortunate it's become a negative reflection for Unity, especially as developers who use it, but it is what it is.
i dont think its even what it says but how its presentede
if your only splash screen is unity's it might say it had to be there
if you have that, the name of your studios and other things might look more professional
I suppose - but there are plenty of very real cases of gamers seeing a Unity splash screen and immediately going "Ugh another Unity game" - your gameplay experience might exceed their expectations, but regardless the second they begin there's already a level of negativity/stigma to their expectation of your game. Personally, that's something I'd definitely want to avoid where possible.
Hopefully that outlook will change in the future, but for now it's pretty much the reaction we have to prepare to deal with.
This absolutelly personal so don't take it seriously at all but... if someone doesn't play a game or judges it based on the "made with Unity" text, I'd rather they didn't play my game at all : D
Haha fair enough 😄
Bad thing for Unity when it comes to splash screen is that it's mostly seen on non-commercial/amateur games
This should be other way around
Yeah, it's a bit of a catch-22. To reverse the polarising judgement it currently gets, larger, successful games would need to show the Unity splash screen, but at the moment they pay and turn it off.
I wonder how much the splashscreen worked in favor of the popularity that Unity has today even if it was mostly on crappy games
I think that unity should disable by default splash screen and make a deals with bigger studios
Less unity logo on crappy games and more on Kerbal Space Program, The Long Dark, Firewatch or Inside
(The Long Dark has cool Unity logo on start)
I often wonder if unity marketing team don't know what they're doing or know it very well (no dark theme in free version, forced ugly splashscreen...)
So either they're competent and it's making them a lot of subscriptions or they're completely incompetent
I imagine it helped a lot seeing as most of the people I knew back in the day downloaded and played with Unity because of it. It's always been weird but a large part of it's indie success seems to be attributed to it's early advertisements with it's web player and splash screen and I know for a fact that my college started teaching it because they found out about it from various students who played the games.
I don't know, Engine is seen as bad because of that
Well, I don't usually see the splash screen of the game engine in an AAA game (cause they own the engine they use).
Usually people might prefer unreal for it's "professionalism and looks"
And normally the ugly engines, but powerful aren't even that accessible for us
For example frostbite
Please keep this chat to Global Game Jam talk! Is anyone attending a local site?
Local site?
Like any local game jams?
There is one in Hamar, Norway this month
Global Game Jam is an annual game jam hosted across local in-person sites all over the world
Aaaand I gotta be over 18
Yeah that often tends to be the case, sometimes due to location
It is otherwise just a lot of liability to host for minors
Well, potential liability anyway
What about the people who turn 18 at the same year?
Would that work at the pub? 😄
It's generally a restriction because they're community events run by individuals that can't take responsibility for looking after and keeping in check the legal responsibilities of hosting an event that allows for minors
Some places will allow it, but it definitely varies on venue and country
You'd probably need to get in touch with the organisers
The jam is probably an hour away from me via a plane
Looks like there's 4 GGJ locations in Norway, so might be worth a try getting in touch with those closest
If you can't participate in GGJ, check out the jams going on on itch.io! https://itch.io/jams
itch.io
Man
No support for the northern parts of norway
Only the south
Itch jam feels less special, cause you could basicly join any game jam at any time
I could practice till next year then
Is there a newsletter I can subscribe to?
Something to look forward to! There will definitely be a GGJ 2020.
For GGJ
They should have something on their website to subscribe to. 🤔
I'm actually going to the Hamar jam site 😁
@charred gazelle @white plover @solemn dagger @torpid kernel etc. Regarding the splash screen… you might be discussing in the wrong channel, because GGJ asks developers to put the GGJ logo in their GGJ games, so piggybacking on Unity's splash screen system makes it super easy to add it 😃
@charred gazelle you're right, you should be 18 to join, but you can go with a parent. And I don't think there's a newsletter, actually… just the https://globalgamejam.org/news page. Or you can follow GGJ on Twitter? https://twitter.com/globalgamejam

Ok, thanks
@charred gazelle we've done 4 GGJ with kids & teens, but we were 2/3 adults staying the whole time with them (official rules say this is legit)
Alright, I will try to ask my dad to bring me there
Might have to take a day off school
Anyone doing GGJ in Moscow perhaps?
I'm waiting for a game jam that happens at my neighbours house or so, I don't feel like travelling
I'm going to a GGJ meetup at UCI in California
I'm pretty sure you can do everything via online cant you?
The GGJ organisers are pretty uptight about making people turn up physically. We're trying to run a more flexible and chill site this year, but getting a lot of push back from GGJ themselves
They wouldn't approve the site until we took away "feel free to work from home"
sigh
Aw bummer.
Yeah, not very accessible :/
I'm out, I've never done one before either.
Why would you work from home? You allready have severall jams for that?
I mean it's pretty convenient for me because of the hardware I have at home
There's definitely a lot more resources that get poured in to ggj. It's be nice if they made that accessible to people who can only work from home. Maybe they live too far away from a site, have kids, are disabled in some way.
And yeah dragging computers around can be hard too if you don't have a car
How about dragging a exercise bike, micro ATX box, Rift, with touch, Monitors
or Vive, backpack VR PC with dock, Micro ATX box, monitor, racing wheel pedals, stick shift
not fun carrying for 1 person
Yeah, I've been to jams where it looks liek someone's moved their whole house hahaha
Just do Ludum Dare instead? where you are supposed to work from home, instead of working from home in a gamejam where you are supposed to go to the event itself?
Huh, it's literally in the FAQ that you can't participate online. I wasn't even aware of that. Strange rule.
????
There's nothing stopping you from participating with the given theme, though the GGJ is built around being at 'jam sites'. There are plenty of alternatives though
Well even here in Seattle the jam site is bad. Very crappy internet. Site not open 24 hours Have to pay for parking. I live downtown. Why do I need to work on a potato laptop to dev my game when I have a perfect workstation at home. That single rule keeps me from participating every year. The rule should be show up to get a team. Then go home and do your stuff
It's worth noting that jams aren't organised by GGJ themselves - anyone can organise a site location. Like I mentioned though, there are hundreds of jams taking place every month that are held online
That's true Liam, but they don't approve the site on their website unless you appear to abide by certain rules. Which is frustrating.
Jeg forstår ikke problemet her
Hvilke problemer?
Det de avløser i skrive samtalen
Not sure if anyone here is based in Copenhagen, but im going to visit the Jam Site on the last day of the jam ((27th Jan). 😃 Might do a morning quick-jam! :D
https://globalgamejam.org/2019/jam-sites/it-university-copenhagen?fbclid=IwAR21NDbh9JeHtQ2IlaZz2haXVKT18lc-8Pi9m8hHy21GiZ6EkXxYS3o_O1Q
Global Game Jam®
Dont know if this needs to be said, but on friday, dont post the theme here or talk about the theme here until the last jam site gets it!
Whatever you guys do don't look up the global game jam article on Wikipedia the day of
Last year the theme was given away from the edit history, cause someone spoiled it, and it was reedited to remove it, but it still remained in the history
Also a few bad apples on twitter too
It's game jam not game of thrones!
what if I want to do GGJ but don't want to go to a site?
I guess that means I should go to Twitter
Yeah unless you join a site on the main webpage, you won't be able to upload your game to the GGJ sit
@lethal jetty a game of thrones jam sounds so rad though
if you want to make a game, nobody is stopping you! Though, bare in mind that it is known for being an on-site event, so it won't support online submissions as @real snow mentioned
Toughest part of work today is knowing that Game Jam is just about here.
To everyone participating in the jam this weekend -- Have fun! Drink water! Don't forget to sleep!
Have fun all! Sleep well too!
Someone have some tips to make a procedural 2D plataformer?
Context - also, is this related to GGJ?
Yes, it is
Just noticed this in the Unity pack page https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/templates/systems/airconsole-42776
Look really cool 😃
(the pack page if anyoen missed it: https://assetstore.unity.com/lists/global-game-jam-2019-free-assets-63987 )
That's so cool!! Thanks for sharing @real snow
Global Game Jam®
My submission
It’s a little meh but I was solo and wanted to sleep
Can you participate in this even though you can’t make it to one of the few location?
Depends on the location, i guess you must join one to publish one.
would be weird though that you joined a location and you werent even there
If there isnt one in your area you could apply to host a site
Hello everyone, this is the game we produced for Global Game Jam.
Hope you like it! :D
https://dormirnaodaxpstudio.itch.io/urplace
the game physics breaks if you fall in the water while pulling objects
I am no longer able to proceed due to this....
Got a nice feel to it
i got past that point, but when i got to the elevator, i couldn't find a way to make it activate.
also, seems the longer you play, the slower the game gets, it eventually grinds to a halt
i think it has something to do with the heartbeat sound, sound starts getting very corrupted.
@pastel lark We are correcting that bug. It was a problem in our 2D Character Controller.
@verbal surge In the elevator part his activator is hidden. The game slows down on some points purposefully. The sound of the heart we're correcting.
Thanks for the feedbacks, friends.
We have a small amount of last minute tickets on sale right now! https://t.co/H6aaduKAfp 🚂💕
Ah I've always wanted to join Train Jam. It's too bad that I'm always working GDC, and it would be hilarious to fly out of SFO to start the jam and just end up at home. Hah.
haha I'm doing that! My flight transfer to chicago is in SF
What will you be working at GDC? I might see you there!
I was seriously going to join Train Jam this year until I saw there was no real way I could join it from Denver (though the train does stop there).
Site said I had to go to Chicago, and at that point I might as well just fly straight to SFO.
Yeah, I believe the point is to have everyone participate the whole time on the train. AFAIK you can only join at Chicago.
@real snow I'll be hosting the office keynote viewing party, helping with a lot of keynote content for social/community and helping on the floor where I can. When it gets closer to the event we will most likely have a temporary event channel for GDC related talk. If you or anyone else here wants to swing by our office or our expo space just say hi. 😄
I'd love to, that would be really nice :)
Don't forget to hug Blaine despite his protests - he told me many times in pm that he wishes everyone would just bring it in for cuddly times.
whistles innocently and exits room
I wont hug him non-consentually! I. Not always a hugger either. Maybe we'll just high five 😅
airhugs are fine
sends hugs over wifi
hol up. is that legal
I'd download a car 🤷

I'd love to go to train jam, but between plane tickets (from south america) and accommodation to GDC I'm spending enough already, also I'd need to get more days off from work
Yup, it's only my second GDC, and I'm only going because I got sponsored to go on train jam, and then sponsored to go to GDC. It's pretty expensive to fly anywhere from Australia. Many Aussies budget $4000USD for the whole trip, at least.
But also, I'm freelance so have to worry less about taking off work.
Yeah, I got GDC ticket for free but plane tickets and accommodations is around 2500 USD
Going to GDC is far beyond my savings :)
I might consider it next year when I'm already in America, but for people living internationally, it's just far too expensive for what it is I think. If you're showcasing or trying to find publishers etc then it's another matter, but for someone just out there to listen to talks and network I think it's hard to justify unless you can vastly limit the external costs.
hello what is visual studio
A programming environment
@ripe bronze https://unity3d.com/learn can be a helpful resource
Yah, I agree with @shrewd bear . The first time I went, was because our game was up for an award and they paid my trip up there. I didn't have nay mission, and just sort of bummed around. Was really cool to see my international friends. but really didn't like SF.
This year I have got a few proper missions, and the sponsorships are helping with networking. I think it should be a much better experience. BUt also, yeah the sponsorships have made the whole thing basically profitable, rather than having to sink savings.
Hey friends! i wanted to share my entry for the Brackeys Game Jam #2 https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-2/rate/374812

@real snow I hope the jam was a good experience!
Yes it was lovely :)
I find GDC a bit aggressive, so it was a great ramp up full of sweet people
Indeed, I was lucky enough to be their neighbor. They were great and made some awesome music. The whole Sound Room too was really cool and was a huge resource for everyone. Folks should support that crew wherever possible.
I totally missed that there was a game jam channel 😊
https://itch.io/jam/scream-city
Ohhh, a horror game jam? In the middle of SPRING? I like it.
@tight viper oh hullooo ❤
Sorry if we've announced here already, but now we're under a month away:
UnityNYC is hosting a XR Jam April 26-28 at RLab in Brooklyn, NY. Small $20 fee helps cover food and souvenirs/prizes.
https://www.meetup.com/unity3d/events/259366295/
oh that's cool, I didn't realise Unity hosted their own jams
If not enough XR audio people turn up, hmu!
looks like it's not Unity per se, just the Unity User's group in NYC
oh right user group, yeah missed that
probably big enough they can organize something like that
We do support some of the larger Unity User Groups -- but yeah, that's their event.
only large ones? That unfairly rules a lot of countries out :/
I would hope the focus is on regional presence, not just numbers of people.
Sorry larger meaning more active and willing to work with us, not just number of people.
Larger was really just the wrong word 😛
kewl kewl!
@real snow Yup, it's the UnityNYC Usergroup's event. Unity is helping out a little bit with some prizes though!
@cinder flax it seems like US developers do not qualify for this
am i mistaken about that?
Heyo! Anyone here in Georgia? I'm putting on a game jam at University of Georgia -
http://athensgamejam.com/
Is there a way for students to get GDC tickets for cheap/free?
@patent hull Most years they have a student pass that gets you into the expo on Friday for a decent discount. Alternatively I know a good amount of people volunteer at the event to get access to it. You'll have to check at what the rates are next year.
Thanks
Is there anything going on here for Ludum Dare?

A game jam from 2019-04-29 to 2019-05-25 hosted by IndieTimSharp. Meta Game Jam 2019 Hello, and welcome to my FIRST game jam. I hope that people comes out and has a blast. This game jam is for people to connect, have
Previous weekend we
enrolled for The 44° Ludum Dare, I managed to glue some assets together, the music and few of the animations While Elvis Leite did the whole coding ...
We did a a local multiplayer game about 2 cats playing russian roulette with a machine gun, which you have to pull the trigger gently and avoid being killed before the opponent.
We would appreciate your feedback and rating us on Ludum Lader!!! Many thanks to Everyone!!!
@lost palm
How did you like the theme?
I started the compo but quit after a few hours. Just did not get into the theme this time around.
i dunno @quiet kiln at first we went like the first obvious ideas : "pick a genre that uses HP, and then use that for everything else" we struggled a lot with a robot that had a limited battery and had to dive into the junkyard searching for fuel but also had to save enough fueel to return to the surface ... then we just thrown everything and started thinking about the "context" and sudddenly we had the idea of 2 cats betting their lifes on a russian roulette game...however ... since the cats have more lifes than the standard gun , we had to switch that for a machine gun
@lost palm reading that out of context is pretty funny , cats playing RR with a MG xD
hey! I'd like to know if there's any way to find out the dates of future Game-Jams please 😀
And there's this http://www.indiegamejams.com/
oh thx 😃
@lost palm do you mind if I keep this idea in my ideas' drawer?
Hey Guys
My name is Logan I'm 23 years old and from New Zealand. I was wondering if there were any 2D/3D artists in the chat that would like to collaborate in future game jams. I have just over 4 years of experience of game development with Unity and if you would like to see some of my previous work it is down below
http://ludumdare.com/compo/author/logon13/

If you would like to collaborate ping me in this channel or DM me. Thanks 😃
Hey people. Are there any artists looking for a programmer for the Extra Credits game jam?
Hey! It'd be amazing if you could give us any feedback on our submission to the EC game jam. Try out our game about punching cupids : P
https://acorn-games.itch.io/punch-drunk-love
there is an extra credits game jam?
What's one of the best game jams for people doing there first game jam?
anyone know of a 24 hour game jam
feel like doing something quick just to get the practice in
"Quick"
check the indie game jams
onehourgamejam.com, but it's saturday nights, so you just missed it.
But why not work for a mere 24 hours on your weekly game jam entry? That's what I've always done for Ludum Dare when I didn't have enough time.
In practice for me, the 48 hours game jams I try limit to just 16 hours, to simulate a normal work schedule. Especially, since if they are on the weekend, I gotta work the next day anyway
I can second that. I try not to stay up too late for jam stuff, though my main rational is that I tend to be far more productive when I'm not tired
yeah I make some dodgy shit when I'm tired.
Welp. Participating in my first game jam to motivate me to make games. Wish me luck!
And... off to driving school
what is game jams
In game jams, you usually form a team with a few other people and create a small game, or part of a game, in a limited time. The team size and the amount of time differ with each jam, but the goal is always to have fun, and get better at making games. They also usually have prizes on offer.
They're usually used to try out experimental ideas or mechanics, or they're used to introduce people to making games, or just get better at making them.
They're also a good place to take on a role you don't tend to do, as you'll make a game doing that role, but you won't stick to it, unless you want to.
Some people tend to do them solo, taking on all the roles. If you've never done that before, they're a good time to learn more. Some solo people even make they're own game engine for the jam, or try out a different one.
If you want to join or host a game jam, these are some good sites:

someone want to start a game jam with me?
@woeful basin, I've been looking to do one for awhile. I've accidentally collected some extra keys through Humble Bundle's which I've been planning to use as prizes (I haven't actually checked if I'm allowed to give them away
). Do you have anything in mind?
lol, have fun working on an mmo for a game jam. ^^
We DM'd, they thought game jams were essentially just a collaboration, from my explanation.
@frank abyss and I are jamming atm :D

What's a game jam??
A game jam is a hackathon for video games. It is a gathering of people for the purpose of planning, designing, and creating one or more games within a short span of time, usually ranging between 24 and 72 hours, and some even longer. Participants are generally made up of programmers, game designers, artists, writers, and others in game development-related fields.
I also explained it here:

Hah, so you did! I did not see that the question was asked earlier Plight 😂
Your explanation is much better than mine.
@woeful basin You should pin Plight's message 😃
😛 👍
Awwwe, geez. Thanks you guys!
If I can improve it in anyway, let me know!

@obtuse pivot it felt like risk of rain in a sense that when u start game it's easy but as u go along, if you're not fast enough it gets insanely hard.
pros: it's fun when u manage to add fuel to torch. cons: it's frustrating when u don't.
game design duality haha
This was my first jam in a while so let me know what you all think :) https://havoxyt.itch.io/burning-embers

There’s this game jam coming up. Anyone in GMTish & 18+ who wants to team up and give it a shot? I've been using Unity for some time and can handle most aspects of it, but would love to team up with a pro programmer. As that could lead to other cool collabs.
As reference to my skills. Here's something I made over a weekend last year to pitch an idea. Holla at me 🤠https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8UQkzNcsng
In part inspired by the classic Street Rod (1989) Which I played endlessly as a kid and part the classic 80s-movie Innerspace (1987). The game would revolve ...
Hi all,
I'm Gary. I help cities and organizations with community development. I organize events and programs to inspire, educate, and foster authentic relationships between everyone in the community.
I'm working on an event that is a mix of a Game Jam and Startup Weekend in the Los Angeles area. Sept 6th to 8th.
I need some help with recruiting some more mentors to run 30 minute workshops and be on site to offer guidance and feedback to the teams.
It's not a paid gig. But, the other organizers and I are willing to barter services for a mentor's time.
If you are in the area and interested, or know someone that may be, it would be really amazing if you would join us or share with your friends. Thanks!!
You can learn more about the event and mentor roles here:
https://www.805startups.com/hub101-hacks-gaming/
https://www.805startups.com/hub101-hacks-gaming-mentors/
sounds fun, lots of topics 🙂
Yeah 🙂 We really want to help give those in attendance a strong understanding for the entire process. Not just in creating a game, but in building a viable business around that game. It's also important to us to help highlight the different roles involved and how this really is a team effort.

Hello 🙂 I participated with my 2 fellow mates to the 2019 Community Game Jam, feel free to try out our entry "A Tavern Full of Lies". You are trying to enroll strong fighters for a quest but they may be lying about their skills ... Good luck !
Entered the Community Game Jam, Brackey and friends puut together.
We made an in-browser 3d stealth-ish game where you play a wolf who eats cute, cuddly sheep bois.
Would love some feedback.
Looking for some feedback on my game, all opinions are welcome! https://possiblyashrub.itch.io/papa-bobs-delivery
I am also willing to spend some time playing your games and give feedback on them.
Hi, can someone please feedback my game?
https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/475774
where can I look to find game jams
I just saw this posted on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGXgve6sD0E
Mix and Game Jam is a game development marathon with the objective of creating a game in 48 hours! Since the Youtube Channel is all about mechanic recreation...
Thats a cool idea, I might enter if I am free
Any good game jams, might just go with the weekly game jam
indiegamejams.com is a good place to find jams to enter :)
also I'm officially relaunching #30daydev in October if anyone is interested in setting and smashing some goals / targets within a 30 day window :)
Weekly game jam is great - it's always there when you've got to scratch that itch.
And it's enough time to test most game ideas or theories. Highly recommend spending one or two weekly game jams to test ideas for a bigger game you want to make or just do some research on some tech you want to bring into a main project.
but another tip is be strongly committed to tossing 90% of the assets/code generated so you can just prototype as fast as possible and have a cleaner environment for something you are actually expecting a return of investment on.
