Oh, you're reading 'Prestige' to mean something like what Meso has - where every time you reach level 50, you go up one Prestige and start over. I looked over the dev diaries, and the one from August only mentions 'prestige currencies' in the roadmap graphic. The one from March, though, specifically talks about Entrobits and Ideabits being the two new prestige currencies (which they changed to Metabits and Knowledge). So when the roadmap says 'new prestige currencies,' it seems that it's referring to metabits and knowledge, not a whole prestige system (that's somehow related to Legacy Protocol, you said?). Anyway, if I'm wrong about any or all of this, lmk.

It would’ve listed something about a public release in the Primary Sim roadmap if it was about those two, also it falls into the “Fall 2025” bracket. On top of the Legacy Protocol reward being switched to Infinity Pass rather than having a 2x boost, which to me implies that we are getting a Meso-like Prestige system that’ll help us progress faster through the primary sim after we activate Legacy Protocol

And as I've posted before, I think of it as a good thing that you lose the normal achievements when you do Legacy, because you'll get then back anyway just by playing the game, and the achievements also give you darwinium - around 350 total.

Holy ShihTzu puppies - my Legacy Protocol 2x boost was stolen! I got it as soon as alpha switched to beta, so I know I had it, but now it's gone! I knew it wasn't available if you activated Legacy now, but I never thought it would be ripped away after I already had it. I feel violated.

Unless they removed it because they plan to add more “prestige’s” type stuff to Legacy Protocol, so you could do a complete restart multiple times. First one being zero boost, then any resets after would give you a permanent production boost

Another ominous development that I noticed while searching through the stats - in alpha, the sharks gave a combined x7200 boost to the ocean generators, which is a big part of why Mollusks were so powerful. Now, sharks are part of sim speed, but only give a super meh x2.6 boost combined. (Yes, I know that's x2.6 for the whole sim instead of just ocean generators, but the effect of the x7200 in alpha was prodigious and obvious and also a lot of fun.) So for those of you from alpha looking forward to the return of Mollusks for its big jump in entropy production, just be prepared for the very real possibility that Mollusks may be seriously nerfed. (Again, it's possible, not certain - I might be totally wrong, which would be just fine.)

Yup, there's lots of stuff in alpha that isn't in beta (yet). Alpha's used for testing all kinds of things, including things early in development that won't go public for quite awhile, or might not go public at all. Beta testing focuses on the things that will be released soonest, which is Reality Reboot and Amphibians, so everything else is locked. You want the final beta version of your app to be nearly identical to the public version you want to release.

I have to admit, I am very disappointed with the lack of advancement in the Mesozoic and Beyond screens. I have 100 stars that have nowhere to go unless you add some more constellations (there are 88 that the IAU recognizes and only 33 implemented—I don't expect all 55 right now, but holy Bob, another 11 or 22 would be welcome!) and once I reach 200 giganotosauri in Mesozoic and collect the last badge, what reason do I have to invest any more time in it?
For that matter, I've maxed out everything in Beyond, and since there are no further galaxies and no more constellations, why should I bother?

Honestly, I'm kind of looking at C2S as a completed game that I don't need to interact with anymore.

I think that Meso is considered 'finished' by the Devs.

(To devs) In 40.88 and before, the Metabits and Knowledge were always pretty close at the end of a run - within a factor of 2 or 3. Now, because of the Reality Capacitors that were made available/cheaper (on the Civ side of the reality engine), Knowledge outgains Metabits by a factor of 500 or more. (The pic is at the end of a normal run-through - I didn't do anything to artificially inflate Knowledge.) Now I certainly don't mind having things boosted, but I know that balance is a major aspect of the whole Reboot project, so I thought I'd mention it.

I hate having to buy “tap” upgrades. I think it is wasteful, because I don’t “tap”. Ever. But unfortunately you have to buy them in order to unlock other upgrades. There is no way around it.

From alpha I'd say there's some basic tactics and optimisations, but as you say it seems quite linear. Probably some more complicated ones, but the effort thinking about those doesn't justify the return (for me). Seems similar for beta. I imagine they want it to be accessible to kids though, so keeping it simple. No Biggie, I'm not playing cells cos I want a Grand Strategy game 🙂.

Agree that buying stuff I don't care about is mildly irritating. But having to buy stuff I actively don't want and can't disable to unlock other things is ... More irritating.

Tbh I think it'd be hard to constrain the game such that you had to make choices on generators/upgrades: because of the exponential nature of the growth.

Maybe either/or choices in the reality engine? At the cost of double development for that bit and having content some players would never see ... Or use Research Chips differently? But pretty much everything else is just ... Wait. You'll get there in the end.

(but it is fundamentally an idle game and waiting is fine!)

Well, I have some suggestion that Reality Reboot needs:

• Sound for Amphibians
• The Branches for new thropy animals (hedgehog, anteater etc. For example, adding square upgrades between mammal and hedgehog)
• Beyond Rank Goal for Mars Colonization Branch (You have to reach Rank 3, 7, 11, etc. to unlock Mars Colonization Branch with Rover. Anyways, devs choice for Beyond rank.)
• Glitchy sounds and description for huge anomaly bubbles (The description will say: This branch is definetly advanced level for simulation. It's very hard to remove the glitch.)
• Upgraded Modern Civilization Garden (more like Ancient Civilization Garden but different)
