The crystals affect the metabits/knowledge you gain somehow from generators that I don't exactly know how.

I don't know what your income is based on if you haven't bought generators. In my empty sim I occasionally get stuff by accidentally tapping, but my per second is zero

If it's any consolation, you don't have to be offline for 21 days: you can use a glitch to halve it ||if you keep the game open in a sim that isn't primary and then go into primary the game counts your time as double||.

Make backups often. If the patch drops and makes it worse you can load it back in the old version and finish your run first. And then patch.

Make backups often is wise. But you can't revert a patch once it's applied, not Steam on Cells. And there, Cells forces the update if you're not currently running it

While there are some advanced strategies, the game itself is very simple. You buy new generators (creatures etc) which give income and upgrade them so they give more income. With the income you buy the next ones for exponential growth. At some point everything gets too expensive to progress. Then you can do a simulation reset. This transforms your progress to currency you can use to upgrade the virtual supercomputer that runs your simulation. Making everything earn faster and more. Then you start again with buying your generators and upgrades. Which will then earn a lot more and you can buy them a lot faster. Rinse and repeat.

Don't waste money on buying time boosts, especially as beginner. The player on the video is doing that sometimes to speed things up.

You can't do much wrong. While there are more and less optimal orders to buy upgrades. All are working to progress you. And in the end, you want to have all that you can afford with the in-game currency that you earn.

Hello! I'm new to the server, just found out about it a little bit ago.

My stats in game so far:
My Primary Simulation is at level 64; Mesozoic Valley is a little over halfway through Prestige 6; Beyond is maxed at level 29, though I'm slowly knocking out constellations still.

Is there a way to speed up collecting constellations? I only have one Constellation Astronomy Mission available to me; did I miss something to unlock more, or is there only one available?

You might want to get from free white stars/dwarfs (either mission or shop), get top 25 or above in events to get neutron/ black holes within time invest

I know the consensus here is later is better for the leaderboards, but because I'm getting all of these badges for the first time, my reasoning is that it's better to be able to just finish the event the first time around while spending as little Darwinium as possible

In fact it's the recommended strategy if you're having trouble getting the badges.

I asked Sepheria the other day - who probably has amongst the highest (nearly) legit game. They haven't quite maxed the knowledge side, but have completed the metabits side.

But, the Devs will just add more when people finish it. It's easy enough to do. No theme or logic required, compared to primary. Just ... Nodes.

So right now (if I cashed in and buy the nodes) my level will go to RL76 and my entropy and idea generation would need ~40 days to reach RL77.

The only way to shorten that time is to get more RE nodes.

Or for a new update to happen.

Doing 21d runs still gets you more entropy + ideas compared to 11d runs. Do 21d runs, that's the best, until they greatly nerf it (soon)

The reason why empty sim could be better for XP in the longer term is because of the extra nodes I could buy.

Entropy/idea/XP doesn't have the fill problem that makes metabits/knowledge benefit from empty sim.

At any rate, you will probably want the Knowledge and Metabits anyway, from the 21d run, even if you can't/won't spend them right away. You do get more Ideas and Entropy as well, but it's only about a 20% improvement. Ofc this will all probably change with the next update, when the nerfs come!

I've got no idea where you are in the game. But for ideas and entropy, buy your most effective generators (value sort using buy max helps a lot).

For fast(er) progression if you're lower than ~RL60 spam-reboot and buy up the tree as often as you can be bothered: it's the fastest way to get metabits/knowledge and strengthen your Reality Engine (which then speeds up your entropy/ideas).

You don't have to spam-reboot (although it is the fastest).

But broadly speaking, buying any (relevant) upgrades in your Reality Engine is the 'best' way to progress.

Otherwise, just collect all the Darwinium you can, use all the codes to get the free Darwinium, and only spend it on permanent boosts.

And try and get event badges and Meso levels.

It's fine if you have badges or are just vibing, but trying to optimize is harder with multiple currencies and this one has FIVE
Moreover, the progress is not very smooth: long waits for small upgrades so it's even more important to balance purchases

I Def prioritised metabits/knowledge over entropy/ideas (although the second pair do feed into the first pair).

And I did also buy iota and zeta quickly.

But remember, you don't have to buy all the upgrades - the early ones are v good value (much more so than the later ones).

Then again, the augments give you new models in the garden.

Oh, and because the upgrades are so staggered (and because you start with several 'tap' upgrades), click/tap generation is much more significant for longer stretches of time, heavily incentivizing nanobots/autoclickers
The bigger 'steps' also mean you have much more RoI right after upgrades, and much less afterwards, so your progress is more heavily tied to matching your activity to a schedule of progression
This is generally true, of course, but feels more exaggerated in this event

Definitely they are Beta, note the Automation icon present. As to chip number, note that there are nodes in RE that provide them, including one added with the last update. Idk how many people are supposed to have at a given level, though. It is odd to me that they stuck them all in Entropy, but whatever.

You get 1/level + however many are purchaseable in the RE tree, so if the beta has another 15 chips node, that's how they got to 157.

It’s more than just that though, you do get additional for progressing through Primary for the first time. This is also relevant to late-game players since nodes get added.. and indeed with the Mollusks expansion, I’d like to say you got 3? I forget, been a few weeks now.

The progress in exp mostly comes from RE upgrades.

and idling with generators on day 11+ (once the time chambers are maxed).

You use empty-sim to get the RE upgrades; you'll get a bunch of levels from the short time with generators when you buy-out on day 21

Oh, I wasn't aware of that mechanic. Just tested it though, and it seems lackluster?
With 20 autoclicks/sec, I get approx. 1 cashout of 4.87e6 per 10seconds
Clicks give 8,123, each so cashing out is worth ~3s of clicking, which is offset by having to stop clicking to pull the lever
