Like.. idk about here, but certainly nothing stops you from playing Live on one device with one account, and playing Beta on another device (or Window or VM) on another account, both at the same time.

There is an option for leaving beta, which I imagine will be available without losing your save once the Reality Reboot goes live.

I think players who've done that are currently shown by having the 'beta' tag on the leaderboard. I certainly got thrown onto a completely different leaderboard when my account got ragged as 'beta'.

But bear in mind Thought has been run 24 times already ... So a substantial number of people will have 200%+ badge boost. Whereas Cryptids had only been run 4 times, and only has 1x5% badge, so the largest badge boost your competition would possibly have had was 20%.

There are a few achievements for beta testing. And you will probably not be able to get those when the beta test is over. You also may be able to get a few darwiniums as reward for beta testing.

The quickest way to enter beta is on the PC with Steam.

Be aware that beta has bugs and problems sometimes. You are testing an incomplete game. So save often and do make a save before switching to beta.

As reward you can level a bit ahead of everyone else and see how the expansion will be.

How exactly events reward calculated? Yesterday at the moment of finish of the event my position was 170. But after, at the moment of rewarding, it said I'm in the top 500 :|

Sometimes I had the opposite situation: at the moment of finish I'm in top 500, but later I rewarded with top 250.

Your position is relative to the other 999 people in your division.

Reasons why you could drop/go up: people cashing in at the last minute (or using time-fluxes), internet lag, position not being 100% real time, a bunch of cheaters being put into div 666. And others probably - especially where there isn't a big difference in points between positions (by far the biggest visible gap is usually around 8th to 15th as people fight for top 10 and this can be 1000+)

Everybody is put into a division when they collect their first thing in an Event, and they fill up in order (from 11 to 200+).

Some people try and cheat in the game (in the 3 main simulations or events) by changing their device time. If the game detects this, it won't ban you, but it'll just put you in a div with other cheaters - Number 666.

This can happen without people cheating, and in those cases the Devs might unflag your account if you explain. Otherwise, once you've been caught cheating you're in 666 for ever.

The 3 main Sims? Afaik, no. The Devs want people to be able to play offline. And tbh as that's largely single player I don't think they're hard over on what people do (you do get red warnings about data being corrupted or something I think)

But for Events - where you're playing against others I think you need the internet connection and server time: at least at key points and to know your rank. Idk, not really tested.

There was a previous iteration of event leaderboards called 'Research Race' afaik (was first past the post to win), but the Devs replaced it with the current version, probably because:
A) cheaters
B) people not exploring the info in the event 'cos race
C) too competitive (one of the reasons the event leaderboard is a bit tucked away too, so you have to actively seek it out).
