Why? I am never going up from that beach in my e3 to go hulldown in the middle. It takes forever. My suggestions is to remove the lower beach spawn and only have heavy spawn.

Roughly yes. But maps have different playable area. That and the way lanes are designed by wg make maps like mines feel like a matchbox house in new York and maps like Normandy and other recent maps feel much bigger

There really needs to be more categories. And I'm sure Blitz wants to sell more skins, and I'm sure other players besides myself would like to have a larger selection of skins they can use for different maps. It would be great for realism!

The categories don’t matter as most people I assume just run 1 camo, legendary or reactive maybe battle pass camo in each slot. It’s only the base camos that are exclusive to each slot so unless they want to rework what map falls into each category. Seems a lot of work for no profit

They at least need to have maybe two more, for fall colors, mud, clay, etc. Lots of oranges, reds, browns, maybe a little bit of gold. I wonder what you would call that. And one more for more urban, residential, and industrial areas. Colors mimicking cement, brick, wood, metal.

I really don't think it makes any sense to categorize camouflages under seasons. Seasons can look like many different things depending on the environment you're in.

I think they need to throw out seasons, and start labeling the camouflage skins under categories of specific environments, not seasons. Then these maps are going to start to make a lot more sense in the way that they go with camouflage.

if ur the guy that thinks wotb is a watered down, poor mans version of wotpc, ive once be that guy. trust me, go back, its like hell over there. most maps have three lanes like league, one city, one hilly for light tanks and one full of brushes. if u go to the bushy ones, u might reconsider ever gambling again as players on both sides slowly pushes until someones spotted first and ate a buffet of shells in less than the time for that light bulb to show up

@ruby coyote I made a night map a long long long long long time ago called Sandcastle for another video game. It was a giant sandcastle with ramps and towers for hover tanks, in the middle of a shallow tropical ocean with small islands around it. It was actually a lot of fun! I can totally see something similar to that in this game being really popular. Everyone who played it loved it. It had a multi-floor tower of sand in the center of the Castle, that could be a single capture point, or one of many. I guess the others could be on islands sheltered by rocks and sand dunes... and maybe a shipwreck?

I've been thinking about this.

I would make island #1 mostly sand offering some sand dunes for hulling down, some palm trees, a few rocks for cover, and a tavern made out of a wooden shack and a dock.

Island #2 would be large rocks with a nice sized hill with several perches for destroyers with some scattered bushes, lots of vegetation.

Island #3 (shipwreck) would be rocky with some sand and sparse vegetation, with lot of cover created by several trails leading to the capture point, protected by hills made from sand, rock, and parts broken off by the ship. The capture point would be behind the largest part of the ship hull.

The castle in the center would have ramps, collapsed bombed out walls, and stairs tanks could drive up to get to the chemin de rondes (walkway along the tops of the walls) which would be around the entire perimeter of the castle, with some areas of the battlements destroyed where destroyers could defend the castle from.

I really miss making maps. I don't even have a computer anymore. Not to mention the time...

In the training room map screen there's 29 maps, lagoon will make it 30. And the mode maps won't be removed because they are mode maps. So they are removing exactly a sixth of the maps every 3 months. What is your point exactly?

They are using the excuse that new players have a too grand map selection and don't learn the maps as good as they could be. With this change players will just have to learn 25 maps in regular queue battles, instead of 30. Which still is a heck of a lot, and isn't much easier for a player to learn than 30. And since they are rotating maps, the new player will suddenly find 5 maps that they've never even seen before and have no idea of how to play. Worsening the disadvantage of new players greatly, and working countereffectively to "helping new players learn the maps".

It does affect the variation of the game, the things that will happen in battles will be much less varied. I've played well over 50k games in wotb, and it gets very unvaried as it is, I really don't need less variation. And I know they just are rotating them, that's what I've been saying the entire time, but they are removing a sixth of the different scenarios that can happen in your sessions of playing for 3 month intervals

It's mostly wineyards that is played in tournaments that people enjoy, I for one love that map. But the other maps are kinda meh for tournaments or don't exist in them at all, but they are nice maps non the less, except for ghost factory, which is the most uneven spawn map in the game

But after these 3 months they are gonna remove 3 other maps, maybe they are maps that everyone likes? And all for a non explanation from wg, they could have said something like:

"We need to remove some maps to releviate the stress on the game engine, and we'll try to move over to a different game engine to not have to do this in the future"

Which is the real reason they are doing this, but they are not moving engine. This will just continue to happen with future updates adding more content, the game has outgrown it's engine from 2014 by far, and it's therefore we're having the really long waittimes before battles and load in a minute after the game has started, and the ping issues are so terrible some days. And now they are just continuing to cope, and not change engine anytime soon.
And yet they are adding new mechanics every line to add further strain onto the game, making it more unplayable. They should have changed game engine a long time ago, but they haven't. And are made to have to make such decisions as this, just for their utter stupidity in developing the game. That's the true story about it

"stress on the game engine" doesn't make sense. Engine can handle a lot more than most of people think, but limit is in our hands (phones, tablets).
There is not any relevant reason to "rotate" these maps. If they rather said "we will remove 3 maps for 3 months, but we will remake them in to PBR", that would be a lot different.

Engine used to be opensource till 2018 and development still continues to this day by Wargaming & Lesta studios (closed source). So saying "outdated" engine is kinda not the right reason.

This engine is not made to handle a game of this size, wot has outgrown it's engine, it needs to so many files to function. Other games this size have no problem running, and the game is so poorly optimized that pc's that are way stronger than the game ever should have a problem with are having performance issues. It's true that calling it outdated is kinda a misuse of words, but in a way it is. It's made for games much smaller than it's size, which blitz was back in the day. And players need to take so much resources of the files into every battle, that it puts a strain on the engine

Long loading times, on both pc and phone, really slow response when clicking tabs such as missions, techtree, profiles or such. Performance issues on pc, and I by no means have a bad pc, totally on the contrary, long frametimes in battles, especially on hdr maps. And generally just slow in all things game related

That's not about ram, but it's about native support on current hardware.
Most of the devices, that we are using (on PC), are 64bit (32bit platform for gaming died long time ago, thanks Steam Hardware Charts). WoTB is 32-bit application that is being currently "emulated" to run on 64bit system, that can hurt performance during shader calculations, etc.

The only ones I would be happy to see fully gone are Port Bay and Copperfield. Dynasty’s Pearl is actually a decent map, Ghost Factory is fairly well-liked and wouldn’t be too hard to rework, and Vineyards could also be easy to rework.

One of the worst map in wotblitz:
Explanation why: if one heavy tank of your team goes to the port city the game for your team is almost a guaranteed lose and also when the meds/lights of your team don't cross the river as fast as possible at the beginning of the match it's almost a guaranteed lose for your team🚮. The only playable place/flank/spot/side of the map is the field but only for tanks that have good gun degrees down (kranvagn,concept 1b,...)

Copperfield is low-tier only and kinda whatever, Dynasty's Pearl is only good if you're well armored, Port Bay looked great but only playable in hills, but I did like Ghost Factory, and vinyards was good. although you'd get shredded in city if you weren't a sidescrapper

@stone brook it will come back though, because they are doing a season-to-season rotation. So the season after the first one, Dynasty Pearl and the rest going away soon will come back, and 5 OTHER maps will be temporarily removed. This means you'll actually be playing more Dynasty Pearl than normal the season it comes back, since it will be in and 5 non Dynasty Pearl maps will be out.

I was thinking about a type of map I haven't played in a long time, and especially never in this game.

I think it's called attack and defend. Basically there's an offensive team and a defensive team, and the map has three stages separated by gates. You respond if you die.

The offensive team starts at the beginning of the map and the defensive team has to protect the gate from being destroyed, which would give access to the second stage of the map if the offensive team is successfully destroys it.

If the offensive team can work their way through both gates, and destroy the defender's base at the end of stage 3, then the offensive team wins. However, if the timer runs out and the defenders successfully stop the offensive team from destroying the base, then the defenders win.

All you would have to do is destroy the gate by dumping enough shells into it until it breaks. And of course the same thing for the enemy base

I've also seen another game mode where one team has to push a cart loaded with explosives to the enemy base to blow up the enemy base, and the other team has to try and stop them

I also remember seeing another mode where the map is broken up into regions controlled by capture points. It works a little bit like supremacy but with twice as many capture points, but with the added twist that if one team manages to capture all points the game immediately ends giving them an automatic victory.

Unlike supremacy, the regions of the map glow green or red on the map depending on who's controlling them. The entire region, not just that one spot.

I'm ngl, I still stand by what I said almost a year ago. That this new map is inspired by mirage. And If I had to guess, probably started out as a mirage revamp before changing scenery and becoming its own map. The layout is pretty similar except for the new middle.

Yeah basically go hull down or go to garage. No place for tanks without armour or gun depression to influence the battle other than wait and see if your team is good.

Also the map is big and there's no way to support even at medium range. If team is split and other team pushes it's a straight loss.

It may be a good comp map but for regular battles with the kind of average iq players have these days, this map is just bad design IMO.

I remember once I destroyed a VK 100.01 (P) on black goldsville in a really funny way. It just happened that his tank was the exact height of one of the canyon walls. So I drove my T28 HTC right on top of him. He turned to fire at me so I drove backward so he couldn't shoot me. Then a light tank started harassing him from the other side. When he turned his turret to face the light tank, I drove on top of him again. The light tank and me were taking turns back and forth harassing him until I killed him by driving on top of him over and over again. 😆😂🤣. I think that's the hardest I've ever laughed in this game!

What happened was I tried to make a post with some pictures, it wouldn't send all the way and got stuck permanently trying to send. I got a warning that I was posting too many times which I wasn't. I deleted the pictures but it still kept trying to send the message and was permanently stuck. I waited to see if it would go away, no dice. Asked around for some advice. Decided to just go ahead and force stop the app a couple times. Eventually it just went away after some time.

Everything seems back to normal now, but that was a pretty bad glitch.

Because the corridors are so isolated it‘s fairly easy to flank on the new map, as long as you are prepared to fight fairly close to the enemies you flank

Seychelles in East Africa would make for a great map location! I never even knew about this place until now. Lots of boulders and rock formations to use as cover, some interesting terrain, great beaches, interesting land formations, lots of interconnected islands with shallow water, and the location is really nice. You guys up for some epic beach battles?

I think a tropical map like that would be a great addition to this game. Lots of little islands connected by shallow water you can drive through, with lots of rock formations and tropical vegetation, with a larger island in the middle

I would go to one of those islands, Wade down in the water behind it and hull down on the far side of the island in the surf where the sand dips down under the water. Perfect occasion for an armored destroyer. A nice clear view of the island, protected by a hill.

You know I hate to say it but the only way mobile devices get better is if software developers keep pushing spec limits. Every new map in wot is just acorridor hulldown meta map. The only fun ones are prokhovoka and malinovka and maybe himmelsdord. Plenty of room to move around. Flank, spot, hulldown etc.

I have a map idea!

A boat x2

A massive destroyer (boat) parallel with another in combat with like 2 paths between them like on other maps. Each team has a boat and there would be indoor hangers on each boat and there are other rooms that can fit a tank or 2. The whole map has cool immersive features like guns firing boat to boat. It would provide shelter for snipers, a place to combat with or without cover on the bridges to each boat and heaps of places to move to and around with a new strategic map!

A-10 pilots have to use binoculars to identify targets. An A-10 pilot once mistakenly saw orange panels on vehicles to signify they were friendly… the A-10 pilot thought they were rocket launchers and strafed a friendly convoy of British IFV and lightly armored vehicles. Also it’s not the 70s anymore where there are close in gun dogfights. I know the A-10 is a CAS aircraft that it goes for it to. Why use a gun when we could use a guided bomb or other precision weapons. It’s not Vietnam anymore so get your head out of the idea that it’s still the 50s-70s and gun fights are likely to happen

randoms is different from ranked.. a lot of times you can push the hill through the side and eventually dig out the TDs. Or create a helpful cross fire onto the heavy hill.

That’s been my experience as well. In random games you can usually brain on the enemy and take castle or at least help clear the heavy side quickly so the rest of your team can push onto their tds and allow you to move up. Ranked is a lot harder and pits more of what Posit1ve is saying, where you need to rely on the enemy to make a mistake first. Which is slow and boring.

New Bay is kind of a boring map in regular game modes, but in any of the limited time modes it quickly becomes a problem map.... I cringed whenever I got it in Big Boss.... twice I got perma stuck in a spot where I couldn't get free or support my team... and once I got perma stuck somewhere where I was basically perma-hulldown in a 121B where nobody could really aim at me, but I had a limited area of effective fire... the enemy's JPz E100 threw a tantrum about it... it was pretty funny tbh

I don’t really like those house positions. It doesn’t put any offensive pressure on the enemy, and if you lose either the mound by your spotting bush, or the corner, that puts you in serious danger.

The thing about medium side is that you cannot allow yourself to get stuck down there. If you go med side, you need to go in; crush the enemy, and get out to seize the spawns. Otherwise, if the enemy gets tanks in the spawns and/or the middle, you’re toast. If you just camp at the house, you’re contributing absolutely nothing to help your team to get out of that position, and you’re committed too far to run away if needed

Not only does it come down to whoever rushes the hill first but even if the hill is successfully taken they still have to rely on team mates putting pressure on the enemy and games always turn into stalemates of heavies slugging at the rocks or attempting to flank

I think that if we reduce the spot area just for tank and heavy fighters by half, and for light and medium fighters by 25%, the maps would be much better used and matches would not last too long or rely too heavily on ranged hits

Well ghost factory, vineyards and Port Bay are not PBR maps so their performance is better than on the newest PBR map

thoughts on naval frontier? i think it’s a really good map, heavy side is great for hulldown and second-line tanks, the spotting positions are juicy good and the camping positions are really nice

There is no correct way to play a map, it will always depend on what your team does and the tank you have but usually or at least that's how I play it using heavy and td is pushing from the center being heavy or camping from base being td

Usually it is good to be in the center while the mediums and light detect from south and where you see many enemies decide if you push from the center or you are going to support them always avoiding that the fights are going to be very unequal

If the mediums or light don't detect anyone from south then stay in a well covered point of your base as they are most likely coming from the north so you wait for your scouts to flank them

but as I said, this varies a lot and it will depend on whether you don't get a team full of campers or that they have less than 3 neurons

These are the points with the best vision and coverage of the map

In case the enemy comes from the north, if they are pushing, try to exchange damage from the base, if they stay in the base and you know where everyone is, then try to flank using the the center channel for the fastest and stealthiest or through the south if you are a fast tank for the safest

It just needs like rocks or a wall because if you make a push on medium side you get obliterated by a td camping in the complete opposite corner
(Yes I get that's why it's set up that way but it's painfully op on dead rail)

All TD maps are balenced. doesn't mean they're good. IMO td's shouldn't exist. If I wanna get nuked from tanks in the back of the map who are never going to get spotted I'll play wot.(opinion)

Yah I can't yolo in an IS-7, but it'd sure be nice if heavy side wasn't a farm fest for the mediums that went hill and the TD's on the ridge. I don't play heavies, but heavies seem kinda useless on castila unless they go med side.
