striker is the most reliable, you can almost never go wrong with using striker in any content
the rest are more niche, but depending on the content they can be very strong

striker with chest is technically more powerful, but you need to maintain 150+ stacks to outclass standard striker. that is nearly impossible if you're doing anything short of legendary/master diff, raids, incursions, etc, because otherwise enemies die too fast for you to keep those stacks

The fundamental stuff is the same either way so you don't really need to juggle with all of these combinations

chest with (Perfect) Obliterate, striker pack, it's always the same few pieces of gear

you'll figure it out eventually

if you understand the overdogs tiers you'll do a lot more damge with those on, if you don't want to mess with the tier of overdogs coyote will just be simpler

if you don't want to deal with exotics in your build, just stick to 2 high ends

there are a few notable pieces of gear that aren't striker:
Overdogs: exotic gloves, best option if you can prioritize your targets well
Coyote's Mask: exotic, 2nd best option for its crit buffs
Equalizer: chest with Perfect Obliterate, typically what everyone runs
The Sacrifice: chest with Perfect Glass Cannon, does the most damage if used in a standard striker build but needs you to play well
any random grupo piece: if you're not using exotics, the 2nd high-end piece will usually be grupo
any random ceska piece: if your watch level is not high enough to get the free crit chance, this is your best option to reach 55-60% chc

and then there's the humble Striker with both The Sacrifice and The Gift (or any providence bp w/ Vigilance)

yes, it drops from the warhounds. not guaranteed but you can farm it. kill the dogs and fast travel to white house and restart the bounty again

okay, it's not bad, there are worse options out there, technically it deals more damage, but it has SMG range and accuracy, and the talent is really inconsistent

you're better off crafting a police m4 with killer/measured

might technically deal less damage, but it's a lot more accurate and has a much better range so you can actually hit the enemies that are further away from you
