so you're actually a net negative by not adding dps to the team

you forget, not everyone has optimized builds going into countdown. say kestrel gets a group or least 1/2 a group of fresh 40's following people's advice running countdown for builds. the scorpio + oppo would help them tremendously

at least 1500shd.
but that being said it is worth having your alts created and through wony before you actively delete/rerun/use/repeat.
even at shd 1000 each alt will be holding 200 scavenging points , but these alts will continue to gain shd as you gain on your main. so every scav point you gain youll have 4 total to use.
all alts also allow you to complete weekly shd project for exo, and any other weekly/daily

Well 10% on a weapon for an all red build will boost your damage a couple % and thats it. Just being more accurate/hitting headshots will do more than expertise.

not really, the limitations do play a big part here as you have to be out of cover to enable your damage, which puts you at risk

you are dying, and the best way to fix it is to play with cover more, but you're being discouraged by umbra

Umbra requires you to do its "dance", and that dance is getting you killed. Using a gearset (or none!) that rewards good play without needing much else (striker's, ND..) and you will get better at the game. Forcing yourself to use a gearset like Umbras is just leading to you ignoring your lifelines and dying because of it.

You need to learn before you can do the cool stuff. Drop the "oh a better player would-" stuff, for real, because currently you arent a better player. Use the gearsets that reward you for doing the simple things, like Strikers rewarding you for hitting a lot of shots and keeping momentum, or ND which helps with deciding who to fight first. Dropping umbra is the first step to getting better.

backpack a good choice is memento if you need damage and survivability, but you have to get kills and it takes time to ramp up to full effectiveness

majority of the hunters spawn during the night time in game and requires you to do very specific things to spawn them
