my 2 cents.
BF1 was marketted and targetted at exactly what it is, a larp game. It focused on appealing to larpers and history enthusiasts. Somewhat historically accurate maps, guns etc. It did most of what a WW1 game should do. some people think it could have used less auto weapons but thats a different discussion. BF1 was what it was suppose to be.
BFV was a WW2 game that did not care about larpers at all. it cared about the more "comp" bf community. it tried to play like a FPS game but failed. It had larp aspects and comp aspects but tried to blend the 2? its completely random. the game had no idea what it was trying to do, it was trying to be a Battlefield FPS while also being in a larp setting. Larp and BF FPS do not mix. they tried and failed. You cant have the 2, you either have a larp game thats immersive or you have a deep FPS with a high skill ceiling. Trying to blend the 2 gave you a bad larp game and a bad FPS.
