Essentially, you can donate materials (eg filament) or copies of the same thing. Countdown allows for targeting, so you can target 'Ongoing Directive' for example, then junk all the drops, and select the donate option within expertise. Do that for each gear set.

It'll take on average about 2 runs to completely max out any given gear set. Can also run some gear/ weapons not yet levelled to gain experience as well.

Summit is not great for farming gear generally, drop rates are rather low - countdown and retaliations are better, and you can also get some very quick priority objectives that guarantee a random exotic reward

Say you change from arbor to weapon damage on a chest piece you are not able to also change a minor attribute on the same item, but you can change it back to armor or skill tier

Been farming prototype gear between tier 3-6 and have had mixed results. Sometimes I’d play and get 2, 3 and at most 4 drops! Often times I’d get 0. But they are of poor quality.

Was wondering (for those who’ve completed up to 10 tiers) if it is even worth the extra effort from tier 7-10. Is there a high chance of getting more drops or better quality (god rolls)?

If you want to be the more proeficient (without having fun though)
Equip every slot of something not xp (don't care about what is it). Means also skills, specialization, weapon and armor. Doesn't have to be set. Make sure to have 1 exo armor and weapon as it is what you'll max last.
Go to countdown, target what you don't have for now. Do challenging, not heroic.
Swap everytime something is maxed.
And no, for me, targetting mods is not worth. Even if you're full expertise of what you loot, you'll get a bunch of resources (1600 to 2000 white + green + blue) you can donate.

Mods are good when there's uncrafting or when you can use watch 1000+ on them... And manage to lvl fast. Otherwise... It's a trap, for me. Equip those exos on you and run countdown. I'd say target something like armor or a weapon so you can drop exos you'll likely need later (for prototype). Btw you level faster a weapon if u have it in arm, not in secondary slot.

If you can farm those exotics on countdown, I'd say target farm them. You'll get a lot of mats for uncrafting and you'll also have a chance to drop it. Otherwise yeah I mean, it's similar beside exo drop. But if you wanna do prototype, those 5 or 10 exos you'll loot for the same proeficiency will be useful I swear 😅

if your world diff is on hard, youre only going to get them on hard diff

hive can be burst damaged by NPC standing over you, also there needs to be enough room for it to drop, if you are hard up against an L shaped wall when you croak, the hive can mis-deploy due to obstructions. Also if there is anything EMP related forget it.

Hive is not 100% reliable unfortunately, no skill really is. I've fired foam at dudes and they just walk straight out, random hunters ignore the new EMP seasonal ability, and so on.

You can upgrade regular gear to proto gear with cores. You'll also need them if you want to change the augments on it

Costs one core to upgrade to proto. The costs to change augments increases exponentially ~
