Well it was some guy doing escalation and sayed my future initative build was trash so I tried his and couldn’t get a handle of it and and I switched 2 murakami and 3 shiny monkey and quick fix bag instead and it works better then the future initative build

Yea, I'm just a sucker for "procedural" content in grind games, admittedly the randomization in Summit is very barebones, but I just find it motivating (probably because I'm mainly an ARPG player). If they ever expanded Summit or have a 2nd random game mode, I'd probably spend 90% of my time there 😅

Countdown has its uses though drops lots of named items from hunters. Summit you only get hunters at floor 100.

Yes onboarding in this game as got a lot better and thats why a lot of new players are here now but while all that onboarding has been getting created in last few updates the veterans got left with nothing so I guess they’ve decided to give them something with proto. I dont really care for it tbh so I’m not too fussed but if I were you I’d just focus on getting to at least level 20 xpertise before you step into escalation.

I played War Thunder and Enlisted a lot back in the days but Expertise grinding is just that painfully numbing. I've been grinding in countdown and thanks to the expertise surge, I can proficient a brand/gear set in 2 runs.

Its a grind but like I said earlier games 7 year old so you need to do 7 years worth of content to catch up to the old heads. No rush dont let it stress you.

i think proto are disabled in all forms of PVP including invaded, no i dont remember an specific regarding invaded being mentioned on top of my head, maybe old trello notes from PTS or streams i didnt watch

I'm going to approach this issue as pragmatically as I can, seeing that you were making assumptions that are untrue.

There are 2 streams at the moment. On one hand, there are systems in place to help new players reach the endgame faster (both community- and game-driven). We encourage them to get their expertise up faster. Awesome.

On the other hand, there was no real requirement for expertise. You get it because you want to, so its more of a self-driven interest. That is, until Prototype landed, which makes expertise a direct requirement. But there is a problem. Players now want the Prototype system easier and faster. They want dropped Prototype gear to be "workable", since Prototype gear is considered to be expertise 30, you skip a lot of the grind if you weren't at expertise 30 already. So essentially players are calling for the removal of the expertise requirement. Why is this a problem?

On one hand, we're going "Hey, youre gonna want to get your expertise up ASAP", but on the other hand we're going "jokes on you, expertise is useless".

The core issue here is not the content, its the players' expectations of the content irrespective of its intent. Escalation is not meant to reward you, it's meant to challenge you. Naturally, you'd expect to be rewarded less. (Not disregarding the fact that the Prototype drop rates are still too low) but that was the idea behind it. Players want to feel their time is worth it, they want to speedrun their Prototype builds, just like we used to speedrun Expertise, which is fair enough. But, funnily enough, you chose to play and sink time into this game. Only you can decide if x content is worthy of your time.

Things change. The core issue has always been that players want to be able to get as strong as possible as fast as possible. It's why people chase the gear. This causes an issue with replayability and longevity if all the strength is gained in days, for a year long season. People get bored.

I personally think expertise and escalations need more work, but I am not going to just sit there, cross my arms, and say "well now I won't do it" in the mean time. That's a pretty defeatist thing that I'm not really into.

Expertise is meant to be a long grind, it was worse in the beginning with expertise upgrade costs, back then exo components didn't drop like candy the way it does now. And it would have costed 210 exp comps at Expertise 20 (Max when it was first introduced), then-30 would have costed 410. So it's magnitudes quicker now.

But the real question is, if not for Prototype gear, why do you want it? If you can justify the need for it, then you're going to work towards it.

• due to VIP; people love to rage about it, but never explain why. Basically you can fail it because the VIP is a f***ing idiot and will walk into a spawn closet or fire and die, so it's easy to fail.
• the other reason may be due to ignoring the 3x bonuses (guarded by hunters) that are a massive benefit; if you beeline objectives and ignore the boosts it can hurt the team as a whole.

However, the others guys who didn't have the bounty at the beginning can't rehost it, you need to have the host coming back, launching another one, then leave again when the boss left.

it is a good answer, because by default everyone who plays for long enough, will get to expertise 30. how long just depends on what changes go in.

'Cause we can guess later it will become easier to grind prototype and there will be more content related. I'd say they are trying for now, adjusting their bugs, etc. Yeah expertise must be worked, I understand that. But again, 1 week. And 0 content gated behind prototypes.

It's probable that the developer will meet us somewhere in the middle as they usually do; but I am not going to sit here as a sample size of one and just demand expertise be removed/ nulled out or for escalation to offer no long term relevance because I really want to grab all the gear in a week.
