Windows 7 machines didnt have crashing issues. I was on an old rig and never crashed when ppl on win10+ were ctd 3-4 times a session. Once win10 and up was forced I joined the ranks, but for a long while I would go months without a hiccup.

For me, there are some control points, and it's always the same ones, that after I capture them, they withing five minutes immediately fall into enemy hands again. Like, I'd see a friendly resource convoy to the cp I captured and while they are still on their way, it would already be captured again.

It's bugged, but there's a simple workaround: go to the stranded tanker mission in NY, open the mission options screen, and look for the 'toggle mission mode' prompt to switch it to the manhunt version of the mission.

You'll have a positive or negative polarity showing on your shoulder, every time you swap your weapon or reload the polarity type changes from one to the other.

Enemies have a polarity assigned to them, shooting an enemy with the same polarity as you will boost the damage numbers done by your weapons. Grenades and skills are unaffected by the polarity and its damage reduction or increase.

Each time you kill an emey with the same polarity you get 25% more weapon damage up to a max of 125% (5 stacks) for the duration of the buff which you'll see in the talent tray.

Masks were cool sure but you only got them once, bare in mind that once upon a time we didn't have a global event vendor either so the backpack trophy is a momento rather than an all out reward.

The lucrative part of completing or earning plenty stars and claiming the trophy is that upon the return of the same event, the trophy is replaced with a second exotic cache. 2 free exotics each time essentially.

It's data repackaging/consolidation that makes this possible - it rarely has adverse affects on game health. If they reduce overall game quality or fidelity to reduce game file size then that's where it's most noticeable. R6 does this quite often unfortunately

There's an abundance of ways to get exotics and components now. I remember stockpiling exotics on mule characters for the day that component storage limits would be increased. (They didn't last very long lol)

TL farming bags to get a single brands backpack is an awful idea, the loot pool is way bigger.
The only time you should ever TL a type of gear, is if you're farming Exotics.

Think of it like this, if you TL the brand, you have a 1/6 chance to get it, if you target the type, you have every brand/gear/exotic of that type in the pool.

Suppressor noise reduction depends on the caliber of the weapon. There should be a pretty good DB reduction when moving away from higher caliber rounds

Pistols aren't going to make that weird noise they do in movies when suppressed, but after doing some testing, suppressed and unsuppressed pistols and SMDs, there's not a great difference in DB reduction

Pistols sounds when suppressed should be the same volume they are now, and unsuppressed should be louder

That would better emulate the real world DB reduction

For the higher caliber weapons, suppressed should be slightly increased, and unsuppressed increased to create a greater DB difference

Then again, I already have hearing damage from firearms use, so I prefer the volume higher for almost everything

I will say this, though, the acoustics for firearms use is pretty good. I found a bug where alt+tabbing out will sometimes remove the firing sounds for the weapon until I swap them, and firing with those sounds removed lets you hear the echoes off of the surrounding buildings

Also it never made sense to me why they used exploits from 2001 and 2012 in a game thats supposed to have taken place in 2019. I can't even get metasploit payloads to work on exploits that are 6 months old in lab environments let alone get them to work on exploits that are over a decade old.

It's cool that they made the effort to showcase real world exploits, instead of just using hollywood hacking, but one of those exploits is old enough to have kids by the time the second game takes place storyline-wise (July 2019)

I'm only basing this off of my experiences with online games and network/server infrastructure

From what I can find on a quick google search, people are tossing around the term "dedicated servers" but a dedicated server doesn't mean the game uses a server-client model like people think

Peer to peer has two different models (decentralized and centralized)

Decentralized is what people think of when they hear peer to peer. A direct connection to a remote peer, or player. Old school online games over dial up and many earlier commercial games were peer to peer

Centralized is where there's an intermediary server that has all the same information the clients do, but that intermediary server is still waiting for updates from the player host, just like a decentralized P2P network

Server-client is where the players, the clients, software is only reporting what you do and what the server says happens to the player

But the server is the host

In the division 2, if you have lag, you can survive encounters largely unscathed if you're the host

Because you're ultimately the host. The only wonkiness you'll see is due to latency to the intermediary server

If in a game like, say, World of Warcraft, if you lag, you can suffer catostrophic consequences

Because the server is the host, and your lag means the server just keeps trucking along, and when you finally catch up, you get to see what happened while you were lagging

So when you lag, one second you're alive, and the next second you see a massive burst of activity and then you're dead

Dedicated server doesn't mean server-client model

But, again, all of this is speculation based on my experiences and what data I can find online

If my guess is correct, and it's centralized P2P, shutting down the intermediary servers would cause the same effect as a server-client model

People see "dedicated server" and think "It must be like WoW, or other server-client games I have played"

But if your intermediary servers are just login servers and nothing more, those are still dedicated servers by definition

your not wrong about decentralized P2p, that is mostly likely how things like countdown work, its how most small scale party based Coop like that works. DZ is a traditional server client.
lag is a 2 sided thing. Server can bog which is a universal issue. Also im assuming things middle man servers are very limited on resources, its basically just acting as a VPN. That VPN server can have issues, it can slow down independent of the host chosen computer. It can get too many packets and choke itself. It really shouldnt but you get what you pay for

everyone could get a lag spike because of the server or the client

Can someone explain the tactics of polarity switch for idiots? I swing wildly from "haha this is easy mode" to "wait, I'm dead?" in seconds. I understand you need to shoot enemies of the same color of your arm and reloads and weapon swaps change your arm color. I think I die because I somehow get out of sync with the colors and when I'm in sync it's easy mode and when I accidentally desync I get in a lot more trouble than I normally would. What's the tactic here?

When you're positive, shoot the positive enemies. When you're negative, shoot the negative enemies

Reloading or swapping weapons changes your polarity

Melee attacks changes the enemy teams polarity

if you have plus sign on gun, only shoot at plus, if minus on gun shoot minus.
Changing weapons changes what the gun will use (+ or -)
Same goes for reloading

If you get shot up by a guy who is positive, and you're positive, there's a damage bonus

(At least I think enemies get the same benefits we do)

If enemies get the same benefits, then they also get the same drawbacks, meaning a negative enemy does reduced damage if you're positive

You can make them all the same polarity as you by just melee attacking them. Equip the shield, go on the offensive, get in their faces. When you reload and your polarity switches, melee anyone whose polarity doesn't match

This event feels punishing to passive players

I had a hard time at first when I didn't understand and I played more reserved, but when I went aggressive it felt easier

Also, when you're about to start an engagement and you see an over abundance of one type of polarity on the field, if you have a preferred weapon, you can game the polarity by switching to your specialized weapon, then your pistol, then back to your preferred weapon

Sounds like you just stuff it up when someone is in front of you and you aren't on that polarity so just think how to get either them on your or you on theirs.
