Seasonal characters seem like a replacement for the specialization weapon 2.0 we were supposed to get. If seasonal characters affect builds we can guess this means certain skills/weapons are only obtainable by leveling your seasonal character. You might not have access to your old stuff while leveling your seasonal character. After that the gear merges to your main characters. Like specializations there are certain gear/weapons/item accssible only when you a specific seasonal character path. All specualtion on my part.

If Descent is a precursor then the gear you love is not accessible to you. Instead, you get what you get with your seasonal character and you have to level it up. You earn your freedom back by leveling up and then you can integrate your seaonal gear with you tried and true items. I can't imagine I'm going to allowed use my favorite build to blaze through the seaonsal character grind. It's logical. My hope is that the grind is not too long and it is not as extreme as descent as I really feel I have little agency to build my character intelligently in that game mode.

Not for nothing. Just inaccessible until you complete the seasonal character grind. You will be fully restored for sure --- or Ubisoft/Massive would be setting themselves up for a very loud and very displeased response from all corners. You will get access to everything again. The only unknowns for me are how and when.

There will be new manhunts, incursions, etc. that are going to maybe be introduced during the seasonal grind but the endgame stuff is never going to be accessible on the first play through. That would be totally jumping the shark by the Devs. They are way smarter than that. They realize there have to be something to chase in the end-game.

That's how PoE works (Path Of Exile). Every season new characters (starts from 0) if you want to get exclusive challenge rewards from that season. Main (your first character ever made) remains in the standard league, which you can delete anytime because as soon as the season ends new ones starts

Somehow I still have the game listed in my ubisfot connect games list but it shows I don't own it if I go to purchase warlords expansion so I guess to play that I need to buy full game. Are the classes from the year 1 pass still locked behind that so I need to buy the 15 dollar version?

I play Diablo Seasons so I can try a different class, and within that class there are multiple skill trees and builds and paragon trees etc etc. In division I have 4 characters that are exactly the same, I just use them to store and use different kinds of gear.
