Your Targeted Loot is correct, and you are buying caches with the Countdown credits? That's about all you can do with Countdown.
It's only good for farming Exotics in that you get a lot of loot from it, but not necessarily the right loot.

Alternatively, just run TL outside of Countdown and stack up Directives.

that'd be a good idea. But do make sure to go in with a good attitude, and be very careful whenever extracting with an exotic. It's often a good idea to call for extraction and only come in to drop off your loot in the last 30 seconds

But you can run it however many times you want. If you're really keen on getting it, sure, go for it. I'd say just do the incursion every week with a group that already has theirs, so they share it with you if they get it

Again, if you're desperate to get it, get a group together and keep running it, but I'd say it's a bit of a waste of time (IMO). While I mostly run the oreo, the Elmo is still extremely good

If you like it more power to you, but compared to a high-end police m4, it's very much not a selling point.

@crimson wyvern Not normally, but around xmas time the game adds a few holiday specific items. You keep them after you obtain them, but can only get them during this period.
Hopefully they'll add a new one in this year, but either way you'll be able to get:

1. Oh Carol, a Named version of the White Death MMR, it has lights.
2. Chill Out, a named mask, has 1 less attribute slot but 2 mod slots.
3. Sleigher, a very weak smg that fires snowballs, headshots apply confuse
4. a santa themed hunter mask.
   @tropic breach The top core of an item is always the same by default, so Fox's Prayer always starts with Weapon Damage.
