Expertise in current implementation is trash. If you upgrade, let's say, Famas - all famases in the game must match the expertise lvl. Just like skills work now - I upgrade my drone and I can use my +20% drone on another character. Plain and simple

yes, gear slot icon (mask, gloves, etc.) is open to all brands and gearset for that gear slot. but the brand/gearset icon limits the pool to only gear within that brand/gearsets range (ceska, grupo, striker, etc.) but remember this is only for the additional target loot. you will still get other non-target loot dropping as well, and that wont be limited by said pool.

give it time, that'll change. the jump from challenging to heroic can seem huge at first for sure, but once you make the jump and you're somewhat comfortable, then it's a cake walk and it feels too easy....then you'll enjoy those tense moment you get multiple engagements happening at once in the open world.

I'd highly recommend getting it (ideally when it's on sale, often gets big discounts) - as well as letting you skip the 1-30 story mode, you'll get to join everyone else in the lvl 40 endgame which has way more to do (new gear, new game modes, seasonal events, etc)
