Fair. I kinda ended up falling back into D2 with Final Shape and have been seeing where things are going. Edge of Fate had an interesting story but was marred by some less than stellar redesigns to gameplay systems, meanwhile Renegades was basically a big homage to Star Wars but managed to feel extremely unique as well, but I think would've benefitted from a few extra passes for the story to allow some things to breathe a little more

Yeah, that stuff looked kinda cool. I had a lot of reasons to stop playing, but the biggest one was just that… I started playing expecting a 10 year franchise, and then after 10 years I got a very satisfying ending. It just felt right to leave it there.

I’d want it to be more open world and have a big focus on exploration, with ship gameplay and seamless flying between worlds, but still an interesting campaign and the same basic gunplay+Magic feel of Destiny 1&2.

Personally I just am tired of the mission structure of D1 and D2. It got very old by the end, so being able to explore the planets and feel more immersed into that universe would be the only real way to pull me back in.

But that’s just what I’d want, personally. I just don’t want D3 to be more of the same, I want a new game because I want to see it do things that couldn’t be done by just updating D2.

I’d still want a more-or-less linear golden path campaign, of course, but I’d want the side missions, strikes, raids, dungeons, etc. to feel naturally integrated into the world rather than just something you hear about from an NPC and then boot up from the director.

That's why trying to do open world is risky. You don't really get many games where you have multiple open world environments to a scale most people expect (Think the open world Assassin's Creed games or Cyberpunk). And a big aspect of Destiny is the multiple planets you explore, so I imagine they wouldn't want to sacrifice that aspect

I feel you could do it fairly similar to how it’s done now, tbh. Strikes and raids are often built out of the existing environments, but just blocked off unless you’re in the mission. So instead of doing it that way, just have it be like the patrol missions where you approach it in the world and start the activity seamlessly.

Then let us have ship gameplay for faster traversal if we want, and let us fly between the planets rather than just booting them up in the main menu. Then have some more interesting stuff to find hidden around the world.

Oddly, it really wouldn’t be too different from how it’s done now, just made more seamlessly connected.

Agree on 4. I loved the story (it’s still my fav out of the games) and its themes and was very interested in where it would go.

Then 5 totally dropped all of that and went in a dumb direction and I didn’t like its story at all. It maybe could’ve been salvaged, there was some potential in that direction, but I’m happy Infinite sidelined it and wrapped it up and went in a new much more interesting direction (and even managed to lightly touch on themes from 4 again!) and I sincerely hope they continue down the story path that Infinite started (as long as it doesn’t involve time travel lol)

So like, Chief, Esparza, Infinity's crew and the Banished who went to Zeta with Atriox are still on Zeta Halo and the Endless are still something which needs to be dealt with

I imagine any retcons in Campaign Evolved will be mainly to make things more consistent with the rest of the franchise, so no more marines calling Chief a Mark V and characters using more consistent language with what's used in the rest of the series to refer to things like slipspace (If I recall, Keyes calls it slipstreamspace a few times in CE)

The problem with that is Fallout never had a singular, central character across multiple games. It was very much about the world and ambience. Halo does not have that, so TV/movie adaptations need to follow established screen characters
