I stand corrected, in a moment of weakness and frustration I claimed that kikowani station was one of the worst levels in the franchise. I was wrong. It was merely a test of strength for what was to come. Coastal highway is one of the most abhorrent levels I've ever played in a video game

I made the mistake of getting a troop hog and giving buck a rocket launcher. I had to restart the level because I had essentially soft locked myself due buck being incapable of hitting anything with the rocket and not having the firepower to deal with all of the bugs in that one section

The stars aligned and the universe decided that I had suffered enough. Buck actually killed things. He somehow actually landed his shots. I had to do half the work and time things perfectly, but he did it. I thought I was going to be genuinely stuck there

It took kicking him off the gauss, killing 3 of the banshees, kicking him out of the passenger seat, getting him back on the gun, and flooring it to the door. By some stroke of galactic luck he took out all of the ghosts and the last banshee without getting me killed. I was genuinely a heartbeat away from death. Insane levels of luck.

Dare got stuck on the tank in that tunnel entrance to the zoo and my heart sank thinking I just got softlocked, but fortunately it set the checkpoint beforehand

Yes - under Multiplayer Social Games is at the top and Custom Game Browser is at the bottom. If you are spamming through and go to the bottom of the list on accident, the next option is Quick Match which has no further prompts and immediately puts you in a game

Well, considering the Snes carts kinda had that thing with Sega's own extentions. The worst part of that was the extra cables and needing to plug everything into power.

Granted the SNES carts were self contained and had really cool expansion chips, like the save file drive in Metroid 3, or the Super FX chip... Or the unreleased Super FX chip 2.

Not to mention the N64 expansion pack.

Literally all you're describing is a PC. Consoles already use proprietary, commissioned hardware. So game companies would have to pay to produce a whole suite of hardware for consumers to buy, which would cost tons and be completely wasted on the average audience. And would, again, make consoles cost as much as PCs without any of the benefits of being on PC.
Add-ons were popular back in the day because they let systems do things they couldn't do before. Disk systems, CD drives, Satellite connection, Modems, the goddamn 32x, etc. Nowadays theres no need for that.

I have to admit something: during the escape from Installation 00 in Halo 3, specifically the "Forward Unto Dawn" sequence, the music's synchronization with the cinematic changes everything. Whether it's well-synchronized or not, it can be either garbage or the greatest masterpiece you've ever seen. In my case, I experienced PERFECT synchronization the first time I played the game, and it felt incredibly epic.
