first game was Halo 3, the flashy gameplay of all sorts of covenant weaponry, fun vehicles, and big maps in both campaign and mp really blew my mind because I was so used to more modern military FPS before the Halo franchise

I was just curious about the aesthetic preferences with current players. I was in my twenties when I first played Halo. Now I'm 50. If people want something much more colourful then go for it. Or if they want something stereotypically more tactical, then that's fine, too. But EOD holds a special place in my heart.

Well Halo's always been kinda colourful, just look at the colours of the Covenant, they had brightly coloured armour all the way back in CE. But there's a different between colourful and "Fortnite like"

I play PUBG as well, and I always choose an outfit suited to the map I'm playing on. So on Vikendi, which is a snowy map, I use a full white outfit to provide that additional bit of camouflage. But then I'm ex-army, so that's my train of thought.

Aye. Like, Infinite's artstyle is very much based on Reach but with more colour injected into it and some Reclaimer/H4/H5 era designs either brought back in a new look or one to one (The Plasma Turret and Wasp are both identical to their Halo 5 designs, as examples)

Like sure, there are some more outlandish designs, but those are very much non-canon designs, something Halo has done before with Haunted and the armour effects seen in Reach (Which both are in Infinite as well)

Halo Infinite is much more customizable than the older games and I think that, along with the improved graphics, is what makes the difference and makes it seem more colorful in comparison

And I definitely think that’s something of this time and if they wouldn’t have done that they’d be missing the boat
I like it though because it is more inclusive and allows for a better experience for female players. I do wish they would create more armor cores
I’ve never played fortnite so I don’t really know about that but from a first glance I don’t think it looks similar at all. I’d say fortnite looks more like LoL.

If you compare it, halo 5 was the most realistic when it came to armour, but based on taking the look of armour back to its roots, infinite captured that perfectly, so it’s not generally “Fortnite like” it’s just modernised classics

Fortnite definitely has a more cartoony look, even when comparing the Master Chief skin from Fortnite with his appearance in Infinite, it's clear one is going for more of a realistic style and the other is going for a very clearly cartoony style

As someone who's played Halo a long time + never played Helldivers, I enjoyed my recent intro to HD2 a lot. It's simple, with bite-sized missions, and lots of people to play with. Even its lower graphics give kinda throwback vibes. Wouldn't hurt for you to give it a shot, whether your bf is into it or not. And who knows, if he sees how much fun you're having, you two could play together!
