Well let's see...
Halo 3 has a very open and diverse sandbox. The campaign is a giant climax and has a great finish, although it can feel short.
It campaign is one you'll most likely replay a bunch and has amazing set pieces.
It's multiplayer was huge and widely considered the best.
And it was a great conclusion to the original trilogy.
But the reason for why it stands out among the rest is gameplay and it's sandbox.

At least for me personally on that last reason

And the characters are amazing along with the dialogue and the music
