I feel like it's wild that we've gotten so much brute and elite inspired content but just not different playable races like brutes or elites. IMO it's not all to hard to just downsize the brutes to make them playable, like what happened to the Locust in Gears of War and the new elite's have a proper stance that would fix the old issues. Or hell, just do what Reach did and don't try to adjust them and let them all be their wacky alien bodies but have competitve modes not include them. IDK, the lack of any playable aliens has felt like a massive downgrade for years.

It's not some trivial addition to the game, there are a lot of considerations and work needed to get a feature like this added. Right now, the studio just doesn't have plans for. I know that, I'm more so talking about 343i has a collective failed on this. We had an extra playable alien species very early in the franchise with Halo 2 and now we're back to one despite yet another venture for armors based around the aliens people thought we'd have by this day. It just sucks that it's been 15 years since a Halo game released with a playable alien.

I hope it's something the Halo Studios will fix but odds are they're not going to since they still are in part, 343i.

Snipers are historically kind of a pain to balance in FPS games because the only real balancing factor that exists for them is losing a ton of accuracy when unscoped or being the same level of accurate when unscoped.

The main issue with Halo 3 is that it's too short.

Chief is a completely different character than previously.
Cortana is downright annoying.

Truth's character in Halo 3 is much more in line with the Prophet of Mercy, who we saw die in Halo 2. Whereas Halo 2's characterisation of Truth was a genuinely more interesting character because he was a conniving politician who was working to try and usurp power from his fell Hierarchs and from the Elites

2 is in a weird space for me where the Arbiter half carried the game's story. The Chief half on its own is s nothing burger. But gameplay wise, the Chief missions were much more fun for the most part and the Arbiter's generally were a drag.

1. Halo 2
2. Halo Combat Evolved
3. Halo Reach
4. Halo 3
5. Halo 3 ODST

Those games just had a charm that can't be replicated.
