As Recon said, the SBMM in BTB has always pretty much been nonexistent since Halo 2. It just aims to make the average skill of both teams even. Doesn't care how good or bad any of the individual players are.

Im pretty sure thats just a BTB issue.
Its the mode with the biggest payout, so the really devoted players (those grinding to Hero for example) will end up playing it the most.
Its also the "easiest" mode so you get the lower rankers.
Im pretty sure the split is probably the only way they could make it work right without it basically turning into something worse.

Cause otherwise you'd have lobbies of hyper-focused tryhards running max steam at each other (which would be great for them but not so much for any random stuck in that group) and then teams of newbies wabbling around th e map trying to pick up guns.

Also, for newbies specifically their skill ratings like...perfect basically cause they havent played before.
So it dumps em in with higher teir players to fill in the slots

Unrelated, KOFFis definitely improved by placing it on larger maps. I feel like there have been some spawn tweaks, too, but it's difficult to place exactly what's different

the big thing is that i can play firefight and enjoy it instead of just killing time. It's still no reach or ODST, but it's actually getting there.

I still say that ending the game when there's a team wipe instead of awarding the enemy a hill is stupid.

I also don't like how if the enemies capture a hill, they all just..... disappear.

it just feels off. hard to describe. negative experience is all i can call it, but danged if i can't figure out why or what a better alternative would be.

also wasn't aware they added high powered npcs as allies to some maps. that's really cool.
