Yes, it's an excellent value, and the long-ago hate was due to technical issues that they have methodically fixed and ironed out, making it a favored place to play Halo nowadays.

Spartans can still experience PTSD. They just aren't rendered completely nonfunctional from combat stress due to it. The UNSC is general handles PTSD extremely well, which is kind of amusing in its own way.

It's actually part of why their helmets have image sanitation built in, to prevent them from getting overstressed from battlefield conditions.

On top of this, you do know that there are degrees of PTSD, right?

Some guys will go literal years seeing body after body before one specific one breaks the camel's back. Some never experience it in a conventional breakdown manner at all (Though amusingly, Chief's actually completely lacking in the typical hallmarks of this particular trait). Still others feel it mildly as an existing ennui.

Some people losing limbs in the books doesn't mean we need Halo to become a gore fest in the games. The series isn't exactly known for its gore

And the only time dismemberment has made sense to be in the games was with the Flood, which I am hoping to not see again for a long time

I mean it comes back to hit / kill feedback during combat, and I think the existing methods like shield flares work just fine.

I wouldn’t mind more prominent blood for shieldless enemies (‘oh blood’ meme, I know) but I don’t think Halo needs outright dismemberment.
