Asctetics comes secondary to defensive capabilities, modularity, and tactical flexibility.

I still wonder why Emile had what looked like field scavanged armor honestly.
An EVA helmet despite his predeliciton for close quarters work.
The operator shoulder makes sense, I suppose he must have worked for the Asymetrical Action Group at some point.
Security makes sense I suppose...and the explosives and shells fit.
But the mix is very odd.

Everyone else on Noble has more or less matching gear and armor (bar Jorge's odd EVA shoulder pad).

when they reach parity with MJOLNIR they'd be a match to regular Spartans ig

Especially 3s, considering most of them were yanked from orphanages and basically told they could get revenge on those that killed their families.
Its also specifically noted he did stuff to Innies so nasty ONI just did not want to deal with and would rotate him out if the foe for Nobles next op was presumed to be human.

The 3s werent MEANT to be disposable, the UNSC was just in such a bad situation that they had no choice but to do these missions.
They knew they were going to be bloodbaths, but they didn't just go "well thats unforunate, off you guys go!"

They even sent exfil craft (somehow, not sure how they got those to be honest) to both PROMETHEUS and TORPEDO

All of their numbers lack the company designator in expanded lore material as well.

All of the MCC + Halo Wars 1-2 + Halo 5. But you'll want to go through them in release order. Regardless of where each game's events fall chronologically, they are meant to be experienced in release order. Even if a game is technically a prequel, it may discuss what is supposed to be a new reveal in another game. So release order is safest.
