Broad strokes, apparently a large chunk of their script was unfinished. The script for the game was finished by Microsoft side staff after the book in a deal to get the book signed off because Bungie was militantly against the book.

Bungie attempted to renege on said deal at the last second because they thought the script was sent to them, only to realize said writer wasn't an idiot.

In fact, Microsoft's staff was apparently the ones who had to come up with the 'why' for a surprising amount of the game.

Bungie didn't even want the UNSC to have a real reason to make Spartans or have warships other than 'it's cool', which was against Microsoft's policy of franchise building (they were trying extremely hard to build a long running and popular Microsoft IP at the time, leading to even games like Bloodwake getting books, which meant having a reason why for things like that).

I think that's the main thing, in today's Age of gaming the expectations are higher, which I understand, you always want to improve on the previous edition of games, and I think Halo Has in fact done that with some aspects but also not so much with other aspects.

I think one of the biggest things that held back go was Hubris and Ego from leadership, I remember reading articles where people who worked at 343 pre shakedown and rebuild would say how they had idea and leadership would kinda scoff at them.

And that type of mentality does hold back, usually these types also respond poorly to criticism and.tend to double down on their own ideas even if they are bad, it's mostly out of ego and pride

I am a Halo Reach player through and through, did clan tourneys and everything and this was 13 years ago. Still my favorite halo by far for the campaign, matchmaking, and forge. Halo 2 is the nostalgic one but Halo Reach is the Heart

I also feel like Halo reach was the big turning point for the franchise where they focused more on matchmaking (not 4 I don’t wanna get started on 4)

Granted, my greivances on Reach tend to have less to do with gameplay and more to do with story.

Even if I think whatever weirdo thought the Halo Reach AR was in a good state should be taken in for a psychological exam.

The thing I liked about reach was the customization and the Immersion with how the campaign focuses on your Spartan or well your Vision of Noble 6.

Even if it's not a named character, they address you, the player, AKA the Spartan.

I know it's an unpopular opinion among the segment of the audience who played a lot of the Halo games, but I agree with you. This was a TV show based on the game, not a remake of the game in cinematic form. In any show, it is very difficult to have your central character around which much of the screen time revolves to never show their human face. Even Mando showed his face, and his reason for keeping his helmet on was core to the lore the show described to the audience. "He never showed his face in the games" doesn't hold up in a medium where human audiences connect with human faces: that's just a fact we can't get around in cinema most of the time.

I also feel like Necromorph forms are also specifically weaker in some cases? I dont know if limb removal kills them but it certainly seems to make them less effective.
Sure you can do the same with a Flood form but they keep going no matter what, even if the limbs are removed.
