So I finally got around to playing halo wars 1, and I'm surprised at how well done the cutscenes are for an RTS game. Honestly, if a game came out with those graphics/art style of the cutscenes, I wouldn't be disappointed

Guys I hadn't played Halo ever since I was a kid, I stopped at ODST.
I bought gamepass and catched up all the way to 5, about to start Infinite.

Only issue I have is I've never been fond of open world games, they are usually so bloated with secondary content I get burned out easily as a completionist.
Any tips to make the Infinite campaign enjoyable? I have yet to start it, maybe the OW isn't as pervasive and bloated as I expect it to be

Infinite isn't bloated with secondary content.
I'm typing from memory here, but the only secondary objectives that have an impact on gameplay are skulls, FOBs, and elite targets. All of these are fun to complete, especially killing the elite enemies with a warthog full of marines.

in terms of open world games, it’s almost nothing like fallout or cyberpunk or other popular open world games. You can easily play the game completely linearly if you choose to.

The side content in Infinite all utilizes the same gameplay loop as everything else. if you enjoy shooting stuff, you'll probably enjoy the side content as it just gives you more excuses to do that.

There's multiple ways to record something that happened on PC. I mainly use the Xbox Gamebar app since it's about as easy recording a clip on Xbox. Not sure what your PC set up is like though

If I'm refusing to use the grapple because I think it's broken, it's a personal choice.

If I think the grapple does actively harm mobility in terms of 'thinking', it's a statement on the movement system and what I view as a flaw of it.

Me choosing to not use the grapple is my choice, but my choice is not the arbiter of reality, and ergo it does not actually solve the baseline issue that I believe exists-it only abates it for my own playthrough at personal cost.

Very, very few weapons are 'new' in Halo, or at least new enough for anyone to make a big deal about.

Is (1s) was the first trial run. It didn't work super well, just made slightly stronger people
IIs was the second attempt. It worked beautifully, and created the strongest soldiers (like master chief) mjolnir ignored. But it required kidnapping and torturing children, which wasn't great
IIIs was the 3rd attempt. They used young willing participants (like Noble team). Stronger than Is, weaker than IIs
Finally came the IVs (like Locke). Here is where they finally got it. Technically not as biologically powerful as IIs, but the difference in better armor is used to compensate

Not really. Chief got desperate and lucky in that fight, which is kind of his MO-otherwise it was fairly even.

IVs are behind IIs as a general statement, but like many general statements, the tragedy is in the ignored nuance of the subject.

Chief's supposed to be fairly middle of the road as far as Spartans go. He's not overly specialized into any one field aside from, arguably, having a dirt-low ability to interact with people in a social setting. There are IVs with better melee feats, IIIs with better damage feats, IIs who are faster, stronger. Chief's big thing is determination and luck for his actions, though it's likely almost any Spartan would've actually performed quite well with almost all of the things Chief's done, given otherwise identical circumstances... Including perception of Chief as a person, which has carried him a shocking degree.

The only exception is likely most of Requiem, because Requiem hinged hard on Chief being a 'messiah' in a particularly dirty and weird aspect of a Halo game that I'm still unconvinced was a good move.

Chief going AWOL was Chief's mistake, and it was literally Locke's assigned mission to bring the wayward flock back home-with the device literally being the backup if Chief decided not to comply.

If Locke didn't interfere, Arbiter would've died-Arbiter's position was untenable and unrecoverable until Osiris played interference. The entirety of the mission to assist Arbiter, while means to an end, played a direct part in ensuring the Arbiter's primacy over Sanghelios. No Osiris, no Arbiter, no Guardian, no Chief rescue.

Chief and Blue Team were captured by Cortana and it was a foregone conclusion even if Locke didn't show up. Cortana's mind was made up. If Locke and co didn't intervene, Cortana would've ensured Chief didn't see the light of day for several centuries.

But, you can overcharge it and oneshot any vehicle but it takes up to 50% of its total charge. However, if you hold the charge for 8 or so seconds, its core starts glowing hot and it just explodes on you killing you and everyone around you. could make for some fun gamemodes n stuff

He has no cultural or personal reason to wear his helmet when he is going about his day talking to people or eating.

Well, the Silver Timeline actually does take a lot of elements from older Halo storyboards, funny enough. And I mean a lot. There's a reason it's an alternate universe deal.

For example, the emotional suppression implant was something Halsey legitimately strongly considered in-universe. In the Silver Timeline she decided otherwise.

I agree that certain portions of forward unto dawn are slow/boring in places. But I can still point out good aspects of it like when the ODST's drop in and the space elevator falls. I honestly struggle to think of a single redeeming quality of the Halo paramount show. And that's a shame because we've waited so long for a series.

I retract my previous statement. The grind is actually kind of bad. You can go up 6 points from a win, and go down 15 points from a loss.

It seems completely random the amount of points you will get or lose.
