I dont think H4 should have been in MCC either. The story just doesn't group with the Reach, 1, 2, and 3. Also the multiplayer is quite different. Maybe they'll make a 343 collection with H4 onwards but even those stories are kinda all over the place.

I think that the explanation given was that MCC is barely able to hold itself together with how many games have already been packed into it, and trying to keep it stable with Halo 5 Guardians, which has a ridiculous amount of content in the form of cosmetics and Warzone stuff, would require a Herculean effort from the developers. It might not even be possible on the Xbox One without a serious rework of MCC's engine infrastructure which would be far more trouble than it's worth. Putting it on Xbox Series and PC exclusively would then require that two distinct versions of MCC be maintained simultaneously, which would also be a big headache.

The game was designed only for the purpose of bringing Xbox 360 Halo games featuring the Master Chief to the Xbox One; CEA, 2A, 3, and 4; only four games. 343i pushed the software beyond what it was designed to do by adding ODST and Reach post-release (not to mention everything from the subsequent updates, like modding support) and creating a player customisation system that would work across the entire catalogue necessitated that an entirely separate graphics engine be towed in.

Adding Halo 5 to it would be ludicrous.

thats a sad truth. and the fact that people have accepted it, shows why these games have survived. destiny as a franchise should've died at launch, halo infinite basically died at lunch but came back up. same for 2042. this business model of "we launch it broken and with the least content and then we update it in the next few years while taking money from microtransactions or the money you already gave us buying the game" sucks and has been a poison to the industry. it's why games like GOW Ragnarök and elden ring and other single player games are praised for. launching with the full game. A product needs to get out the door, and that product has people who are paying to get it made. Those people have demands upon the companies that are designing that product to be in an out-the-door ready state.

As a product line goes on, typically, it increases in complexity. The more systems and interactions you intuit into a system to update it, the more possible interactions occur, meaning more challenges in implementing what would be considered a 'legacy' feature. These legacy features do not operate in the same way as, say, legacy features on Windows unless they system is explicitly designed for this, or may have other unforeseen issues that were implemented long ago by people who have left the industry, or have problems that cannot be solved via conventional, inbuilt means.

So as you increase the complexity of your base platform, you increase the complexity of the major components. As you increase the complexity of the base and major components, you increase the complexity of the minutiae, and so on and so forth. There is a veritable deluge of issues that can take form in projects on the scale of a modern AAA contender title, from the legacy to the known to the unknown to the mundane to the arcane. In other words, navigating this labyrinthine mess is a struggle.

So to manage that struggle, many companies, 343i most likely included so I can add a margin of error to what I am saying, will effectively perform a 'triage' of sorts for content that, while it may be legacy, may not be potentially useable in its prior format for a variety of reasons, such as texture implementation or playing nice with an AI subsystem. These issues take a lot of time and effort to work into a playable format, as many companies do not consider useable to be the same thing as playable. So what this means is, elements of a game or service get delayed and put into an effective 'triage' so that the development team has the time to knuckle down on what is the most critical core experience of a game, IE Multiplayer, graphics, story design, et cetera.

This is all done because a modern game has the scaffolding to support a triage-styled system, which is viewed as a negative for all the wrong reasons. If there was no system in place to implement these systems, games would either take longer to release, or release without the content desired, or have the content released without improvement. It's not a great system, but it's better than no system.

Warden fights tend to vary more in what's fighting you with him, which is why I don't really consider him a true 'boss' type encounter, but rather a boss encounter that works better in the combat of Halo.

The Stalker rifle is a middle ground between the Carbine and Beam Rifle. The Mangler is the CE Magnum with bullet drop as balance. The Skewer's like a sniper mixed with a railgun mixed with a bruteshot. The Ravager.
