I might be wrong, but I think the Xbox app doesn't create .exe files for the games you install. Even if it did, once you try booting it from your steam library, it'll have to open the xbox app, which will then open the game, so you're really just adding an extra step for no real benefit

so the issue there is it seems it relies on onboard memory

i dont think the base models have that, but elite 2 and adaptive have mode switching so they have to have that hardware memory capability

so you'd have to therefore have it tied to cloud save settings on your ms account and that's probably just not nearly as viable as baking it into the controller's memory

don't know what to say, really. People often say "update drivers" and truth be told, sometimes there's some Windows Updates, even BIOS updates, that seem to help. but optimizing for PC can also be pretty hard, even with certain CPU/GPU configs, two rigs can get different performance if the other components are also different. Still, it shouldn't be that bad imho

I think there are some free benchmark softwares you can download and run to debug things like that, not an expert though, you might have better luck browsing some forums, or reddit

I'm not sure what the mentality/plan behind it was, but I think they seriously jumped the gun by having their very first game 1. remove the mystery of the forerunners, 2. introduce ancient humans to the canon, 3. "unmask" the chief. There was a lot of pre-established lore that they could've worked with to set up a stage, and then develop the story from that pre-existing thing and either continue it or use it as a device to introduce something else, planning ahead for future games

I think there was an over eagerness for many things in general. Again, I suspect it all boils down to exec decisions, but if it had been my choice, I wouldn't have had the studio's first game be a mainline entry. I would've made another spinoff like Reach or ODST. Get the studio working together, get a decent workflow, let people go wild with ideas for the writing/setting etc without worrying too much about altering the staple elements/brand, try out some new tech, yadda yadda, and once it's all said and done, the entire studio has a better idea of not just what to do, but how to do it properly, for a mainline game
