I think a benefit of Zug's idea is that someone who is a fan of a certain core can have predictability and focus on what they will receive if they invest the time into it. Currently, the BP has predictability but scatters items across various cores.

However, I think that's what Fractures currently accomplishes, and I don't see them sharing that aim with a paid armor BP that you can grind on your own time, because Limited-Time Events "force" people to play within a certain time period.

Now that I think about it, a benefit of a paid Armor Pass would be that devs could simply make certain activities and time periods grant bonus XP towards Armor Pass progression. That would allow them to use the Armor Pass player population to boost modes where they're trying to drive traffic. And if I paid for an Armor Pass and I see a message "this week, Armor Passes get 50% bonus XP from Fiesta mode" then I'm more likely to play that mode to get the next item I've had my eye on.

Why hasn’t 343 fixed the exchange in Halo MCC?
