I wouldn't say I'm a casual player, nor am I a hardcore player.

I play enough games to complete the capstone every week, and that's basically it.
Doing so, I'm set to earn basically just enough XP to complete the pass within a couple weeks of the season ending.

I'd say that's a good sweet spot.

People who play less than me, not getting the capstone every week, can use boosts to finish it.
People who play more than me, obviously are playing it because they like the game, so finishing early isn't that big a deal - plus they'll soon have a career progression to work on.

It's difficult to balance a pass that never expires. I think the best approach would be to balance the progression around the average player. Keep them playing nearly every week until the next pass. Thankfully the 'carrot and stick' approach to battle passes isn't a thing for Infinite, so even if you're a little slow finishing the pass in time, you don't get severely punished. All you miss out on is an extra challenge slot.
