I think it's because they're relatively simple. They base themselves off of one concept or dynamic, and build around it. Vs later games add many details and elements to maps

I will say, I feel like the newest arena maps in infinite return to the design philosophy of centering around a specific dynamic, while keeping the maps more complex to allow for more complicated plays

i am not complaining about the balance between kbm and controller so i dont know what your point is. sure its possible the only reason im better with controller is playing halo with controller for many years. but im saying that it's at best balanced.
