I blame a former friend of mine who grew up in Arizona for me learning that term
Lol now thatās a good one!
Ah joining firefight matches late⦠score be like š
really unfortunate :(
at least I can get something
Besides this year.
Used to have whiteouts like once a week where I live through the winter.
And yes you can still get perfections if you join late in firefight and continue to not die.
don't know if they'll be skulls to find, but it's going to have the most skulls in any halo game.
Yet another firefight session will happen⦠they shall keep happening until all my passes are done and Iāve hit hero. Iāll still play after all passes are done and hero is obtained.
Of course all my passes will be done first, because onyx is gonna get GRINDY.
Maybe from like Master Sergeant or Lieutenant.
Timed playlists are normal/help keep the rotation fresh and draw people in
Anyway, I saw in the earlier concept art for Halo 4 that the Storm Rifle was called the "Assault Carbine" and I do kind of wonder if they should've kept the Carbine naming
Hello! is there any possibility someone can help me with an issue I got with Halo mcc?
I've been trying all day to find a workaround https://discord.com/channels/471722331820130324/1462243257298714897
If the display was a little cooler, I think I'd really dig the Storm Rifle's design
The animations for it in Halo 5 are top tier
For holiday themed crap thats fine but something like fiesta? Nah thats completely tone dead
Altho i have to question by what people even mean by "holiday themed" game types to begin with. Halo's always been about creating new ways to play. Making a new game mode idea temporary is just kinda dumb imo, unless its badly received over something š¤·āāļø
The snowball fight game mode seems fairly seasonal
Sounds about right
Also it isn't like you can't play these gamemodes in custom matches
Rotating playlists like Action Sack are completely fine and healthy for Halo
I thought that was still broken. Hadnt tried that in over a year
Phew thatās an intense match survived - black eye, Escharum, and 3 players.
5555 was my score! (With Perfection)
Also House of Reckoning map.
How does infinite multiplayer determine spawns? Haven't gotten a clear answer, and friend played with me last night first time in year or so and even commented on the super odd/unfair spawns (objective game types)
Would like to know so can adjust my gameplay accordingly
I used to know but I forget for the most part now š„
Vaguely from what I remember though
In Slayer type modes (I think mostly just Slayer and Oddball) spawn someone the closest to a teammate, but the farthest from an enemy it can, generally with the least active line of sight (and I believe if all teammates are dead it tries for the best "middle distance" ish spawn)
But in objective gamemodes (like CTF namely), it still has similar spawn parameters, but cannot spawn someone past the halfway point to the "enemy" side of the map (usually, just as an example, up to but not past the mid Bridge on Aquarius for each team)
And I think sometimes why respawns can feel scuffed is due to each side on some maps (I belive Live Fire is a prime example) not being equal, either just due to the original placing, the map being asymmetrical, or a mix of both)
Apologies if that wasn't a great explanation, I haven't actually dealt with spawns stuff in a while, but I believe that's roughly how it works
And for "rotating" modes like Strongholds especially, if it can't spawn closer to a teammate than a controlled objective I think, it'll spawn closest to the controlled objective, unless an enemy is on it with no friendly present
Strongholds is especially scuffed though due to that rule, bc I know on Live Fire I've spawned in Garage with enemies on the zone right next to me before
A+ answer, thanks! Need to reread though to fully understand, lol. Plus hopping in game now š
I had a question, but Iām not sure if someone will have the answer. Have you ever noticed, when playing Halo MCC, that some people have scores of several million, or even billions? I wondered if it was a bug that existed in the past or something like that. Even when you check the mission leaderboards, you can see several people with absolutely insane scores
Cheaters most likely
Dm me
The enemy and your team factor it the most.
Especially line of sight.
The controlled hill doesn't play any objective at all. If it does, it is super minimal.
The only objectives I know influence spawns are the oddball and bomb.
I have a video and notebook on the spawns
Idk about you guys, but I loved that giant "F'CLUNK" sound they gave the Fuel Rod Canon in 4 and 5
I like the weird "gooey" start up sound of H2A's energy sword. Makes me sad it never got replicated in any game after
infi isnt that dead that lobbies are js ai filled right or am i crazy
iirc the game will always try to start with a full lobby. If people leave, some modes used to replace players with bots, but I honestly don't know which ones still do.
It really bothers me that Halo (Halo 3 mission) still doesn't work right on mcc with the warthog run
What do you mean it doesn't work right?
the pipes/bars that break in the tunnel bits on the warthog run don't move
they just fall down and awkwardly sit there
I'll need a side by side video comparison. lol
Yeah, I have to second that, because I'm pretty sure they always just fell
https://youtu.be/5AG4IPdbASg?t=535
trying to find a video of halo 3 on the actual 360 was kinda rough
it added a lot to me to have them scraping across the path and you having to dodge them, emphasizes that the whole things falling apart better
360 was how I remembered it, but yeah... Looking at newer MCC on PC Warthog runs, they just kinda bounce once and stop. I don't see it ever being fixed, but yeah, that's weird.
interesting, could be worth filing a ticket, but as shezmu says don't hold your breath on a fix :p
Please refer to the Halo Support site for additional information and/or to submit a ticket concerning any issues you may be experiencing.
I have a question on MCC, why i get a headshot in CE Multiplayer with only 3 times? When with the Elites it took me many bullets with the magnum even in Legendary
Because the Elites don't have the same stats as the player does
Yea Iām going to stop playing Halo 3. Itās too sweaty. Halo reach and Halo 4 are fine.
Unless the developer steps in to take actions to increase the playerbase there are simply not enough average players. So if youāre near the bottom of the skill curve youāll be put in games with people better than you more often. Improve or die, basically
When I run out of xp boosts Iāll just have to go back to normal progression on battle passes. Still got 20+, but I feel like I will run out before my last few passes are done. All good.
Tuesday weekly challenges do assist greatly in progression.
Ironically i find myself having a less sweaty with 3 compared to Reach
With 3, even when im up against organized teams on BR starts, it usually feels like i have a fair chance as long as no one in my team quits
I always have a terrible time in Reach tho because of the armor abilities. Like at least 1 guy in the other team will be actively using the jetpack to scout us out and take pot shots while the rest sprint after us. Doesnt help that the DMR is a seriously op starting weapon compared to the BR
Armor abilities spice up the gameplay though
I used to love them but as someone here once said "everything is better when youre 12"
I find that they disrupt the gameplay more often, even in casual modes like BTB. I think i wouldve liked it better if they were a pick up ability or something
The Reach Grenade Launcher isn't exactly my favorite weapon, but that ADS animation in Halo 5 is smooth like butter
I think its the fact that it is a loadout instead of a pickup which makes it a terrible time
Yeah well I guess that can by attributed to the entire classic trilogy cause while Iām sure they were great for the time they came out in, they really donāt hold up compared to games coming out today
Perhaps
The loadout system works best in invasion mode i feel
Or PVE modes
Yesss. Which makes sense, because weapons are also preselected for a specific armor ability
Well that and the objective is to beat NPCs. Rules arenāt the same as beating other players
What games are you comparing them to?
Titanfall 2, Helldivers 2, Bioshock trilogy, Destiny 1 and 2, Tom Clancy the Division, Warframe, Marvel Rivals, Cyberpunk 2077,
Ngl thinking about this and the cancelled "hero shooter" concepts makes me really really want a class based multiplayer spin off. They can really go hard with that for customizable unsc and covenant commando classes š
Basically Space Marine 2 class system?
So are you saying these games are better than Halo? Or are doing better?
Better than classic Halo
Maybe? Im mostly thinking of something like TF2. Like, you can play as a demolition guy but you can also customize him into a dedicated charging melee type class
I mean thats really hard to compare.
MCC has more players than titanfall on steam.
Halo infinite even beats it
Titanfall was rendered near unplayable
Like fans had to make their own servers and work for it to be playable
I would never compare the other games to Halo. They are vastly different.
Your next closest one is destiny
Doesnāt change that those games all felt more engaging and interesting to play than classic Halo
Yeah youre essentially asking for another game altogether by making these comparisons. Its fine to ask for a Halo SPIN OFF, but saying these other games are better is kinda bad faith altogether
You keep missing that I say classic halo
Classic Halo is just Halo in general
As in the halo games from CE to 3
Maybe to you but I think MCC had a better peak player count on steam
Its identity is based on that sandbox shooter experience
Reach to 4/5 was improved design
They may feel that way to you, but it would seem youre in the minority
Cause itās an amalgam 6 games. What do you expect?
Nothing justifies Infinite playercount, MCC could be 500 games and Infinites numbers would still be laughable
MCC could not exist and it would still be bad lol
Halo CE and 3 gameplay is literally just super basic
Well yes and no. Depends on the metrics you're using there
I would say things like Backpack Reloads / Quick Camo and mechanics like that in CE make that gameplay have far more depth. But if you dont know about those things and just take it at face value then sure
You just run, shoot, and throw grenades when not in a vehicle
CE had the occasional power ups but thatās it
If thats your interpretation thats fine, but you're on an island
I bet 3 of the titles in it have more players than titanfall 2
Oh wait I'm being baited by 0.45 k/d people again arent I
On a good day
Have you ever tried getting into comp?
Wow must be such an achievement to have a higher player count than a game thatās been sabotaged by its own company and buried beneath the releases of other games and largely forgotten as itās pushed aside for the golden egg that is Apex
I don't prefer battle royales but the withe arena gamemode was awesome
The base gameplay mechanics just werenāt interesting enough to try. Each time I finished the campaigns for CE to 3, I just wanted to move onto the next one and hope the gameplay was better
Itās only with Reach that I finally started feeling that
Thats just you refusing to engage with the hidden complexities of classic halo, not a failure of the game design itself
And thats not even a bad thing btw, its personal preference in the end, im just sayin
I like street fighter but dont enjoy 3d fighting games either
I literally tried and only got annoyed by it not being that deep
Personal preference
Complexity with the mechanics doesnt make a game objectively better tho
Its personal preference
I mean it speaks value if players play a game that a company self sabotage.
Must mean the game or games before it were amazing.
What about infinite?
It means higher player input and engagement. If you master a more complex game system, then it feels rewarding
A game like Final Fantasy 15 doesnāt have a super engaging or rewarding combat system because the system is very safe. Just holding something like the guard button has you automatically dodging and blocking attacks and you also just hold the attack button for combos. Itās a frankly shallow system thatās more about attrition and style and presentation than anything else which means, while pleasing to look at, isnāt the most rewarding system
Infinite I just couldnāt play for long before the disappointment and hollowness just makes me drop it and go play something else
What is a complex system to you?
So if you were to actually try and compete in a Halo. Which one would it be?
Okay but that has nothing to do with a game being better. Black ops 7 is more complex game than Halo 3 AND Reach, doesnt make it a better game though
Not objectively anyways
So again you're completely misunderstanding the meaning behind "personal preference"
A lot of Halo players like classic Halo because thats just what Halo's identity was built around. A slower paced arena shooter where you explore the map and find whacky weapons and equipment to help you get kills
The Division has you shooting from cover, engaging in team dynamics and mechanics with people taking up roles and having skills and abilities to fulfill those roles. You can exploit the environment to deal damage
Titanfall 2 is about moving around, making strong loadouts that fit your style along with any special skills or abilities to boot along with your class. Racking up kills rewards special assets like an auto sink pistol, walking bomber droids, etc. and then of course is the Titans which come with their own classes, abilities, and weapons with other gameplay and mechanics at play. Then thereās the base movement system that changes how the player engages with the combat
Bioshock game has you picking up powers and weapons along the way while making upgrades with many powers playing into the level layouts such electric powers being good for any areas with puddles with enemies in them
Halo has you picking up weapons and power ups too?
Moving around the map as a team to control spawns.
Think of timing for spawns, weapons, power ups, pushes etc.
Positioning is huge in Halo.
A complex system is when thereās multiple mechanics and options at play for the player to engage with when going into combat whether it be abilities, movement systems, mechanics like healing through executions, etc.
Part of me wonders if you know the nuances to certain decisions in Halo vs other games.
Division 1, Titanfall 2, and the BioShock trilogy are old, gone, and only Division 3 is planned for the future. Not comparable to current AAA game development simply due to the passage of a generation in gaming years.
And it doesn't matter whether a game is probably more complex: it doesn't make it one bit "better", just makes it win one person's personal preference. Your own personal preference has no impact on a game's objective quality.
Black Ops 7 is hated for how corporate and lazy it is as a game. Call of Duty has been plagued by greed for years and Black Ops 7 was the breaking point in terms of COD jumping the shark in the name of profit
So again, what Halo would you want to play competitively?
People DESTROYED that gameās campaign.
I personally think you would like 2. It has the most mechanics oddly enough...
If you count button combos and such
Halo is more about picking up weapons you come across. Powerups were less common
Yes, thats Halo's identity
2007-2012 had that franchiseās golden era.
Reach, 4/5
So you haven't played it enough to judge knowledgeably. It is definitely so complex that it exceeds many other "complex" shooters in complexity. So a game you don't respect is, by your definition, better.
Reach and 4 specifically were criticized for messing with that identity
Which is why they were so divisive
And it changing the identity is a problem because?
Especially 4 since that pretty much played like Call of Duty almost 1 to 1
No it didnāt
Because it promoted homogenization. Thats never a good thing with any form of media, games, movies, etc.
Thereās a limit when it comes to complexity.
I mean there is more to it, but would you actually be willing to try and learn how to play Reach competitively?
I honestly think you would dislike the MLG settings.
So keeping it static is the better option? They werenāt homogenizing Halo, they were adapting it in ways the better fit what they were going for
Maybe there were better ways to adapt?
You couldnāt have something as gritty as reach with a more bright and colorful artstyle like the classic games
Like Halo 2 to Halo 3?
No because every entry in the classic trilogy still had their own changes implemented to the classic formula
2 balanced out the sandbox more and changed the keystone weapons, 3 added equipments, reach shook things up the most with the armor abilities which again was divisive
And the classic formula was never lost
Just updated to better match the changing times
It was kind of lost with reach. Outright gone with 4 before 5 brought it back
So if I have a chocolate chip cookies. That everyone loves, and decide to make them better by changing the chocolate chips to peanut butter chips?
Are they still chocolate chip cookies?
My point exactly
Literally not the case
Again its fine to ask for spin offs, those are allowed to adopt other formulas because thats the point of a spin off
A Halo fighting game would be pretty cool imo. Thatd make for a nice spin off. But if Halo 7 were to be a fighting game, that would rightfully make a lot of people angry
Thatās what Assassins creed did
Meanwhile Halo never did that
Space combat
Class based combat would be so cool im telling y'all
Tho im pretty sure thats possible to do in the mainline given how customizable forge can be these days
Again, thatās basically Space Marines 2
Youāve got different classes for different playstyles like a melee focused class, ranged, support
Yes, that sounds like so much fun for the halo universe
The Melee class included thrusters
Basically a ability like 5ās slam ability but you shoot in the air and aim where you slam down
Was used for mobility options
Yes and again you can also do something similar in Team Fortress 2, converting an explosives class to use only melee weapons and charge attacks
But we'll have to see if theyre willing to experiment that hard on such an idea. I think its possible tho
Theyāre just focused on Remakes right now
Well the reason/excuse/whatever is cause itās a practice test for them with using the engine
If 2 and 3 get remakes then they may get outsourced
Or just neither and Halo 7 is the next thing they get access to
2 and 3 remakes are honestly needed
Maybe they can fix some of the b in those campaigns
Hopefully better artstyle at least for chief
Itās the reason I lost interest in that game immediately
And played into my feelings of disappointment and hollowness whenever I played it. I just did not like what I saw
hey guys! do people host in this server MCC lobbies or something of that style?
i've been hoping to replay some of the multiplayer in the MCC on PC
Still think that there should've been a proper 'postgame' where you can just play as your MP Spartan on Zeta Halo.
Doing all the side content.
In Infinite.
Hardly matters in first person
I literally do not care if it matters in first person or not
Unless youāre given a third person pov option
Cause otherwise the only differences youāll notice are your hands and legs/feet looking different
Like on a list of things I care about, being able to constantly see my own cosmetics is whatever, I just like looking how I want to look even in single player FPS games.
It's such a dumb thing to be "But achually" about lmao
i never played the infinite campaign, to the point that i straight up don't know what happens or what's the story
Well Marvel Rivals was given extra praise when compared to Overwatch because it allowed players to actually see the cosmetics theyāre always spending money on
Again, I don't care
No, I legit just did not like the artstyle and everywhere I looked in the game, especially when it came to Spartan armors, I was reminded of it
Millions of people could be telling me I'm wrong for liking single player game cosmetics even if I barely see them and millions of people would be wrong to do so.
The problem with single player cosmetics is when theyāre part of some season pass you pay for
Assassins Creed
Womp womp? IDC
Like yeah it's annoying but like after a certain point complaining about cosmetics in a single player game comes across as a "My lobster is too buttery, my steak is too juicy" to me if they aren't really notably invasive
who tf cares about cosmetics for singleplayer, i wanna play a game for the experience for the most part
Well Ubisoft is certainly paying for it now
I mean I do to, but sometimes I want my character to look nice or cool and not like those Dark Souls moments where to optimize, you have them wearing ridiculous armor that donāt fit together
Ubisoft is paying for cowardice and incompetence, not because they dared offer cosmetics in single player games.
Though that would be a facet of incompetence I suppose.
The cosmetics were part of Ubisoftās entire mindset of nickel and diming its customers for years while constantly delivering the bare minimum and least creative products they can
i mean, the magic of the souls games is that you still have the freewill of wearing what you want, yeah, the game may be more difficult, but if you like it just wear it
Perhaps. But then thereās similar games like the Witcher 3 where the best stat outfits look frankly ridiculous and not like how you want to look
Lots of words I'd use to describe work like theirs. "Bare minimum" is not one of them.
Bare Minimum is a UE Asset flip.
Games that just offer a cosmetic option like Destiny 2 are always appreciated cause you donāt have to sacrifice stats and strength for looks
idk man, been playing the witcher 3 and most of them aren't very ridiculous, they fit very well with that witcher aesthetic
Well bare minimum in term of quality. They certainly like filling their games with a overabundance of meaningless and repetitive tasks just to pad things out and fill the map
So when are you grinding Reach?
I don't mind cosmetics it's the transactional part that bothers me
I prefer unlocking them
One of my friendly NPC mongoose rocket launcher dudes looked straight at ours and blew us up š
I wanted to finish my firefight session with a perfection but NOOOO!!!! YOU DIE TO NEEDLES!!! (Extremely fake death I stg!)
Oof
It is very interesting looking at Sparth's concept art for Halo 4 and seeing how he incorporated a lot more classic elements into the newer designs and I really wish some of those details weren't lost in translation
The arbiter got stuck in a rock š«
https://halo.wiki.gallery/images/a/a8/H4_ShotgunSplaser_Concept.jpg (specifically the laser)
Notice the more traditional colors on the Broadsword and classic UNSC logo (could just be a placeholder)
I haven't played halo 4 but yeah it looks like a modern take on classic halo weapons
Man 3 elites survived in that part in floodgate where you meet flood ranged forms for the first time and it felt really good when one said "Victory is ours!"
Playing halo 3 for the first time
Well I might have played mp a few times but it's first time playing the campaign
The energy beam platform stuck out to me the most because of how it very evenly balances both design philosophies
I kinda feel like Halo Infinite struck a good balance, because I could see either structure being in it just fine.
Actually, I think that both structures are in it in a certain form.
The first is like one of the MP maps, and the second looks a lot like the final arena of the campaign, the Silent Auditorium.
Infinite takes a lot from Halo 2 and Halo CE with sprinkles of Reclaimer era designs
I'd say more Halo Reach and 3 than 2 or CE.
Too many elaborate details to be 2 outside of a few specific maps in MP.
Halo CE in the more monolitic/brutalist look and 2 for the extensive use of the glpyhs and patterns + bronze and gold colors
Elites carrying rocket launchers
Idk if I would call halo 1 brutalist... I don't think the forerunners used a whole lot of concrete lol
Halo 2's Forerunner environments do pack a ton of detail into em (some which the remaster overlooks)
I think that is something that Halo 4's Forerunner environments really lacked
Which is part of the reason why that Beam Platform concept art stuck out to me so much
Halo 4's Forerunner environments are a mixed bag for me because some levels I think look excellent (Reclaimer), some I am mixed on (Requiem, Forerunner) and Shutdown exists as well :/
Tank beats phantom

"avoid collateral damage reclaimer" destroys sentinel emitters out of spite
what's better than one scorpion tank?
... two scorpion tanks
3
A Grizzly
is there no screenshot channel lol
More like STINKshot channel cause your screenshots STINK
12 Scorpion Tanks.
cringemaxxing I see
Ok halo 3:||The Arbiter killing Truth was pretty satisfying. Overthrowing 3400 years of secret and total domination of the Sangheili, and he was infected because of his own hubris and lies, failing his own test of the parasite before being slain at the hand of an arbiter||
Halo wars 3 we need it you need it just make it
I'm having this issue on desktop right now, I'm tempted to just go through the game with no shaders and Halo CE graphics.
There's a million fixes and none of them work, of course.
#1297290001188651069 if its "artsy"
If you could let me know how you would go about doing that, I would greatly appreciate it.
Let Multiplayer run until it has compiled its own shaders, switch to campaign, ignore the lack of shaders and just try to play the game.
Interesting.
Any MCC players?
Not me
Yes
One scarab
Hi
I play both I'm 100%ing infinite but I have thousands of hours on combat evolved
Anyone want to help me on two MCC reach forge world maps, they are fully functional but I could use some help making them feel better to play on, one is an infection get out of my house style map and the other I made so almost any vanilla mode can be played on it

Ah, thank you
guys is their a good ending in halo reach
Good ending?
is their?
Wdym good ending though
i mean like where the guy survives since he died during survival
Gravemind should be a boss in halo
Imagine fighting Gravemind with Master Chief or Arbiter
If they do bring back the SAW I really hope they take some influence from the (sort of) cut GPMG from Halo 2 for the design
Hereās a take: I actually like the CEA opening how it follows the ending of Reach.
Ngl, I still wish the SAW had been an actual beltfed machine gun.
Something just makes that... special.
I am very split on the design of the SAW
On a gameplay level it is very fun to run around and mow people down with. But the design feels lacking a certain je ne sais quoi
The drum has a good weight to it and is satisfying to reload and I don't hate the rows of lights at the top. But on the other hand I think the weapon is both over and under designed. Either looking too busy or too empty
Just replace it with the amazing original gun I just made up
ā¼ļø The M60E700ā¼ļø
Itās basically just the M60 but for space
there is a way to survive lonewolf, so I guess he would live if you never ended the game.
Something I had pointed out to me recently is it's very similar in design to Halo 2's/2A's mounted turret. Just food for thought.
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/971899598639624283/1463026361760350353/image.png?ex=697054fa&is=696f037a&hm=a9cf10d1cce66da28b9ba99593c7fe0364c4df4784ab02ad0de2bafe6882cffe&=&format=webp&quality=lossless
I know I've pointed this out to someone at some point lmao
But yeah it does, and knowing 343i's art team at the time, that was 100% intentional
(They had a really strong emphasis as a studio of basically 'bringing forward and modernizing' old aesthetics to achieve a more distinctive overall aesthetic for Halo; It's why Halo 5's Covenant vehicles were way more buglike)
5's Covenant vehicles/weapons are more aquatic than bug like
Iirc the look of the Halo 5 Covenant stemmed from concept art for an unmade Halo 4 multiplayer map centered around "underwater Covenant technology"
- the addition of those fish made to resemble Plasma Pistols and the way the sides of the Spirt look like sharks (that could just be me though)
I do think it was pretty clever of them to make them based off creatures you would find on Sanghelios
It does reflect well on how Jul's Covenant is driven by the Elites
Really, the Covenant in Halo 5 is the one faction that I don't have many issues with their art style
My only real complaints are the faces of the Grunts and Elites and the Wraith doesn't quite translate to gameplay as it should (from what I can recall ofc)
But other than that and the smaller wings on the Banshee or the color of the guns on the Ghost (which are both nitpicks to be 100% clear), I really dig what they did.
The pulsating, wavy look of the Jackal shields, the rocky arms and legs of the Grunts, the intimidating look of the Hunters, the Halo 5 Carbine is easily my favorite Carbine design + the Plasma Caster rocks (please come back, I'm begging you)
All the smart scope animations all look really cool
Unlike the Forerunners where it feels like Halo 5 took the wrong lessions or influences from Halo 4's Forerunners or the far too fantastical look of the UNSC (for my liking at least), the Covenant look really good
Halo 5's elites are weird to me
The actual designs of the armor and helmets are kinda cool. But the size and physique of the elites themselves are so bad that it kinda ruins everything
Id like to see this design get the Infinite treatment. The helmet and the lack of sleeves are cool, ironically more fitting of the title "elite mercenary" than the actual ones we see in Infinite
So glad I have these as proper reference, but like, Elites have always been pretty inconsistent in terms of their proportions, the Reach Elites (Left) especially changed allot more than I think people realise, such as the feet and basic face shape and are larger. Halo 4's Elites (Right), ironically enough, are very similar in their proportions to the Halo 3 Elite (Middle), but are overall larger than them, like Reach's
I never much loved Reach's elites either for similar reasons, but i guess it comes down to armor designs ow that im seeing this
I dunno why that got deleted but ill just have to repeat what i said. 4's elite armor is too bulky, especially on the legs
Reach's elites are also kinda bulky but it helps that their legs are slimmer and the colors for each rank are also much more identifiable
That being said, 3's elites are my guilty pleasure, even though i get that 2A and Infinite's elites are seen as the best designs of all
Sidenote, the elite voices in the 343 games are horrible. I really wish they kept the og voices
I always hated the Halo 4 designs for most of the covenant. One of the things I hated most was actually some of the grunt armours as they make no sense since their breathing masks don't actually cover their mouths.
Yeh the nose tube design is kind of unsalvageable. The concept itself is not good, im glad they gave up on it
Only issue I really had with the H4 elite designs was their massive necks.
The VAs who did the voices for them in the older games were likely unavailable, it's not like they only did Elite voices
Well we couldve gotten better voices, the one we have rn is just bad tbh
Ironically the tower elite boss from Infinite has a really nice voice, but only in the cutscene. In game it reverts back to sounding like the other elites which is seriously baffling to me
Pitty these never happened
Starfighter would've been really cool, and it would seem they were expriementing with a Flood horror game
Or possibly a game mode for Infinite
how i wish starfighter was real
mcc is having issues if thats what ur tryna ask
Cant make new dedicated servers rn - so CGB is stuck with currently existing games that havent ended. Matchmaking will ban you, so dont try yet
I wanted to give a heads up that Halo 3 is now broken on the MCC. Impossible to get matches to go through.
You just get right before the start of the game and the whole team gets booted back to the lobby.
it's all games
the halo in those pics would look fun to play.
I saw a teammate get 7145 points in firefight im like man I want a score like that!!!
Whatās with mcc screwing up
Have to wait for Halo Studios to acknowledge/address it, for now we dont know. Dont queue mm you'll get banned
Game is cooked. Horrible servers and cheaters every lobby
I just spoke to some cheaters. Youāre able to play with midnight hacks only at this time.
There are usually more cheaters in the CGB. Always been true. MM being down and nobody able to make more CGB games, yeah its going to be rough.
ā ļø The development team is investigating reports of #HaloMCC online service and matchmaking errors. Stay tuned for updates on this investigation.
ban you like forever?
Quit Bans in MCC are automated, every quit adds more time, starting at 5 minutes, then 15 mins, 30 minutes, etc.
So no, not forever, temporary, but its automated. The more you try to join, the more it will add. So, wait!
Phew...
The maximum penalty is 24 hours, but that takes a good number of quits in a row
lowk I think Mickey could beat Chief in a gunfight
"Boy, you don't know nothing! Mighty Mouse is a cartoon. Superman Master Chief's a real guy. There's no way a cartoon could beat up a real guy."
Man, Halo 4's finale is excellent
Those final two levels are 343i just fully locking in
And the amount of times I have played Composer and Midnight is proof of that
Absolutely relive the infinite flight days by turning on bots on slayer. And Bazaar map, which of course is the default selected map.
Challenge yourself, if you want, by turning the bot difficulty to Spartan. Or chill if you want as well, have to difficulty on recruit.
(If you're talking about Infinite)
Tbh, at least in FF Classic, it's not too hard to get over 10k score, unless your teammates leave in the first 2 rounds
And granted, I have played prolly close to 13 or 1500 hours of FF, by now, but my laptop barely ran the game when it still did run it, so
One of my friends often broke 20k in like the same time too
Either way, FF Classic is great for score if teammates don't end the match in the first 2 rounds
I would then wish for an infinite ammo FF classic match. Only fiesta and grunt have infinite ammo I think.
@plucky flicker I'll admit that I think it was a fumble not playing the portion of Sacrafice with the "dun dun dun dun" bit of the Halo theme present
Would've been a really cool way to build off of Composer's opening with the Halo chants as Chief looks over Installation 03
Also a nice bit of fan service
Really, the way Halo 4's music is integrated is a bit of a mixed bag
What would your reaction be if I said it was present?

Hey guys
Infinite's elites are definitely not seen as the best Elites, given the current criticisms towards them being in Halo Campaign Evolved.
Almost everything about Campaign Evolved is getting criticism though
H2A Elites aren't the same design as Infinite's either btw.
And not even cuz they look bad, its because they look out of place
Same case was for Halo Infinite, just everyone left 2 months in after everyone realized what the game actually was. So most of the negativity you're seeing today is really just from 4 - 5 years of them taking a vacation from Halo or whatever.
Ofc not everyone left, negativitly surrounding Infinite definitely stayed for a while and basically next to no positivity, but Halo Campaign Evolved's announcement really brought it back hard.
Criticism got so bad r/Halo shut itself down for like a week back when Halo Infinite launched.
Yes thats why i made the distinction in the first place. They both look nice in their own way
It's because they look bad, they always have.
That's the whole reason, they just do.
Infinite Elites honestly look like plastic toys.
They're also incredibly short, way shorter then they should be really. They're like Marine sized.
Legs & arms on them look like tooth picks.
I need a source for this because i have literally never heard anyone say their designs look bad
The most common complaint ive heard is that their placement is lazy
And it kind of is š¤·āāļø
This isnt fitting of a "remake", its just halo ce but with infinite assets
? you sure about that?
Every video talking about Halo Campaign Evolved says it looks bad, lazy, etc. That means the designs, it's bad dude.
They want the designs completely removed
Yes, i too have watched countless videos about campaign evolveds design
These same channels praised infinites art design in the past
again, people want the designs completely removed, not modified to look more classic, removed, because it doesn't look right / good. AKA Designs are bad.
I dunno how you can deny that btw, part of why infinite was so hyped up was because of the return to the classic aesthetic
You'll quickly find out any of the popular Halo youtubers just follow whatever is popular, if it was popular to like the designs that's what they'll do. If it's popular to hate on them now, shocker, they're doing that now to.
Just like they all praised Infinite's gameplay only to then say it's bad because it became popular to say it was bad.
Point is, it's more then just the usual "popular" guys doing it, it's everyone.
I haven't seen a single person who likes the look of Halo Campaign Evolved want the Infinite Elites there, or any of the Infinite designs at all. Because they don't look good.
By a niche audience while everyone else said it looked bad for years. We're really just ignoring that now?
The game was literally made fun of from 2020 all the way to 2022 due to the graphics looking mid, bad, designed horribly, lazy, etc.
I say 2022 because after like Jan. 2022, the games population dropped off a cliff 2 months in, along with anyone in the mainstream audience taking it seriously anymore.
Halo fans suffered massively because of this to, populations nose dived everywhere.
What is this niche audience you speak of? Where is the mainstream audience then? Again, part of the hype with halo infinite was that old art style and that old master chief helmet. People cheered for that, it wasnt just a small group of youtubers in the general public
Heck you can still find positive comments all over the more mainstream channels that posted those old trailers like IGN or gamespot etc.
And yes this is because of the graphics themselves, not the designs. Big difference
This is also another reason why Campaign Evolved is receiving criticism btw, because it looks like it has technical issues associated with UE5
Some even worry about its optimization
Its not because they dont look good, its because they dont look like they belong in a remake of Combat Evolved which has a completely different art style from Infinite. You got Reach inspired marines, Halo 2/Halo 3 inspired elites, Infinite grunts, and even the chief himself is not free of criticism because of small details like his belt not fully circling around his waist like in the older design
For a remake, the littlest deviation from the older designs is gonna anger some people. Imagine RE4 remake but it just uses RE2 remake's assets and designs but tweaked or recolored, people would be furious
If you're gonna make a claim like this, at least have some evidence to back it up, the Elites are definitely not the size of a marine
Bruh is that the actual in game scale? I guess the figures i collected are way off š
The figure scale has the marine at least another head shorter
The niche audience that liked Halo Infinite consisting of around 1,000 - 8,000 players tops which kept the game populated from Jan. 2022 to today.
The mainstream audience of over 100,000+ players who dropped the game due to how bad it both looked, ran, and played. Awful on all accounts.
You keep bringing up this "part of the hype was halo infinite was that old art style", No dude. This is misinformation & at best a blatant attempt to rewrite history.
343 Industries claimed it was a return, but no one actually bought this, because it wasn't a return. It was a weird mixture that literally made the game look awful & was constantly made fun of due to how dated it really looked. Still does to this day.
You might've bought it because you're part of that niche audience, but not the rest of the Halo fanbase.
it wasnt just a small group of youtubers in the general public
It basically was.
Heck you can still find positive comments all over the more mainstream channels that posted those old trailers like IGN or gamespot etc.
You can do the same with literally any Halo game, I don't see how this proves anything.
I've found comments back in 2012 saying "Halo is back with Halo 4" when it launched, also because I lived it myself.
this is because of the graphics themselves, not the designs
Graphics = Designs = Graphics = Art style = Graphics.
The designs, art style, etc all make up the Graphics. If players are calling the graphics bad, that usually means everything else is also bad, and that's usually what people begin massively criticizing in the 1st place. Such is the case with Halo Campaign Evolved, the halo infinite designs look bad.
Everything about this is just, wrong.
they dont look like they belong in a remake of Combat Evolved
Because the designs look awful. Not because it "doesn't belong", you're getting 2 entirely different things confused here. If Halo Campaign Evolved had an art style that was 1:1 with Halo Infinite, people would STILL say it looks horrible. I don't know what you're not understanding.
You got Reach inspired marines
The marines in HCEV are identical to the Infinite ones, not "reach inspired" versions. People noticed this, people have said they look bad.
Halo 2/Halo 3 inspired elites
The HCEV Elites are 1:1 with Infinite's not spired "halo 2 / 3" elites. Again, people have noticed this, and said they look awful.
Infinite grunts
Another thing people have pointed out that looks awful.
even the chief himself is not free of criticism
Because it's using the Infinite version, what are you not understanding?
Please letās refrain from talking down to other users. Keep it clean, folks
If you couldn't tell, that comment was clearly a exaggeration, because the Infinite Elites are tiny when compared to any of the other Elite designs in any of the other games.
Still doesn't change the fact that the arms & legs look like tooth picks.
I dont see the correlation there. This particular audience stuck around because they simply enjoy the gameplay and also because its free.
The """mainstream""" people that dropped the game didnt do so because the designs are bad, its because the game itself didnt have enough content š¤·āāļø
No bruh, the only one rewriting history is you. You can literally go back to mainstream game channels like IGN that show the reveal and theyre all hyped to see the old chief helmet back. Everyone was celebrating the old designs return.
The hype for it all died down literally at the point when they showed that gameplay demo. The same gameplay demo that showed us the static lighting, fuzzy textures, pop in, as well as craig the brute. I dunno how all this just skipped over you, people made their concerns about it really clear, it had nothing to do with the art direction, it was the graphical fidelity of it all
The size of Elites have been inconsistent between entries since the Bungie days
Campaign Evolved is suffering its own criticisms because again, its blatant asset reuse. Literally every other game fandom expects a remake to be built from the ground up and not use obviously repurposed assets. Its no different in this case. If you claim people are just upset about people just hating Infinite's art design in general then send me some proof. Give me a huge space of people complaining about Infinite's art designs before the CE remake trailer was posted
I can show off a ton of a videos and reddit posts about the discourse with CE:R
And nearly all of it will point out the reuse
Either that or the sprint debates š¤·āāļø
Also the irony here is that ive seen people ask why they DIDNT use the Infinite mark 5 chief because its actually not the same model, at least not entirely. Infinite mark 5 chief has the belt circling the entire waist. Remake mark 5 chief does not
I personally dont mind it either way
Asset reuse is such a non-issue to me, I don't see the point in them remaking literally every asset yet again when they can save time by repurposing perfectly good assets they already have
Well that depends on person to person. It doesnt bother me tooooo hard but id be lying if i said i didnt want a more faithful remake
It will always be divisive though, thats just every fandom really
Making new assets is like developing the wheel again, you just can use an already used, and working asset
And it will work perfectly, idk why users don't like it
It's not like making the wheel again
Im also in the Sonic fandom and most people would absolutely hate it if a remake of the early 2000s games used assets from the recent games which already reuse assets themselves. Its been a problem for years actually but Sonic is not a triple A franchise either so our expectations are kinda low by default
Halo is bigger though, way bigger
Like, we're at a point where the graphics of games is plateauing when it comes to realism and the graphical fidelity. There are benefits of remaking older models, but at this point, the benefits are pretty small and likely won't be noticed (At least when it comes to ones from the past 10 years of gaming). And honestly, I'd rather the team making models focus on making models for new stuff than remaking the Covenant designs again or giving us yet another version of the Mark V
This isn't to say they can't tweak already existing models, they have done with the Mark V seen in Campaign Evolved, it's just not worth remaking that design completely again
Me who loves mark 5 and doesnt mind seeing it again š
its because the game itself didnt have enough content
The only time I've seen this excuse get made is by people who are fans of Halo Infinite ngl.
We have tons of games that launched with barely any content, or were the most bug ridden games ever, or both & had no issues retaining players.
For example -
- Fortnite
- PUBG
- Tarkov
- Ark
- Cyberpunk
- Battlefield 4
- No Mans Sky
- Fallout 76
I could keep going on and on and on, League of Legends is literally just a single map people have been looking at / playing on since the game launched 16 years ago.
Halo Infinite didn't even have a lack of content issue, it had the maps & the weapons. The problem is the game looked dated, designs look bad, and honestly it's gameplay just isn't fun. You don't have to keep making excuses for it.
No bruh, the only one rewriting history is you
This seems like a "no u" thing so uh..nice try?
I already dismissed the whole "you can go back and watch these videos when it came out" claim, you can do this with any Halo title imaginable, it doesn't change what I'm telling you.
oh boy. theyre talking about halo infinites playercount again.
Fortnite was not popular at release, it wasnt until the BR mode that it began growing in popularity and even then the game was FREE.
Cyberpunk was popular because of the outrageous hype from all the advertisements as well as good faith by CDPR. It became a laughingstock at release because it was incredibly buggy, not because it lacked content
Battlefield 4 was popular for similar reasons but was also criticized at release for being incredibly buggy. BF fans STILL refer back to this event
Infinite dropped its playerbase faster than all these games and never recovered because it was blatantly buggy and unfinished at release and continued doing so for an entire year. Again, i can go back to all sorts of videos complaining about the lack of content and the dismay with the upcoming season passes being dragged on and barely offering anything substantial to begin with
But all this is besides the point, it had nothing to do with Infinites art design
You still have yet to provide any sort of proof of this argument
Any large forum or video comment section or whatever
Please take this topic to the DMs
Id rather stop altogether
Even better
uh
So what's everyone's favourite Grunt name?
Nothing can beat Yip Yap
yip-yap cause idk any other than that
I thought it was flip yap
YipYap is a good name
No, that's Yap Flip, different name

didnt footed panda say to take this to DMS and nekoo said that they wanted to drop it
ive seen people ask why they DIDNT use the Infinite mark 5 chief
They did. They just changed a few things about it. People still complain about it being the Infinite Chief design at all though.
haven't read the rest of it
you had plenty of time to read
yea i'm replying & reading as the convo goes along
anyways
i got my hands on a test build of halo 4 for the 360 a few months ago. its pretty interesting to see its development
i didnt get to launch the game up, due to not owning a devkit 360 but the cutscenes were cool. got to see some cut stuff
although unless you have a know how when it comes to navigating dev builds & getting past certain restrictions you probably won't get far
the type of files it used wouldnt have made it simple. i know what im talking about, it would just be easier with a devkit or modifications i cant discuss here.
only time i got to stuff like that was the halo 3 mp beta which i dug into too. halos early stages were very interesting
Main problem with playable Elites is trying to design them so they don't have a "competitive" issue / problem, or give players any advantages, is incredibly difficult.
only put them in casual game modes
easy
having to make an elite playable & using all the proper animations for just 1 or 2 modes is not worth it, bungie learned this with halo reach
still would be cool tho
you also run into the issue where, in a "live service" setting, you have to make new animations for every single new weapon you add exclusive to Elites.
applies to vehicles as well
it's just a whole lot of headache with next to no gain
true. it would take alot of work, but i feel like HS could do it. they have some very talented animators over there
best case scenario is they design a special "Elite" body that is just 1:1 with a Spartan body
but at that point are you just cosplaying as an Elite in a Spartan body? lol
i mean they have elite armor and its only $30!!
yea that's about the best compromise they can do
i know i was joking
and i'm not, because that's exactly what Halo Infinite did lol
i know
i don't expect that to change in future Halo titles either due to issues, problems, and the over-all headache they'd be especially when it comes to updating the game with new stuff
i was just being sarcastic. making fun of their microtransactions cause why not
like i said, the best thing they could do is designing an entire Elite body that is 1:1 with a Spartan's body. Same height, shape, uses the exact same animations & more.
but when your game is built around Halo lore, you begin running into lore issues because a Human body does NOT match up with a Elite's over-all anatomy
& at that point, is it really even worth to do for just a couple hundred / thousandish users who'd bother with it?
i deleted the message cause I replied to the wrong message & now it's being detected as spam š
I saw it
I second this. Honestly the separation of having casual modes could allow for a lot of stuff bungie had issues dealing with
Like dual wielding, loudouts, map hazards, etc.
I think the best one is Faithless in Ivanoff Station. That mission really is the best of Halo 4, and the music is mixed well and suites the moment.
I think they did play it, if I remember correctly, when Infinity attacks Didact's ship with its MAC.
did mickey in oni alpha site at some point have a script to use the turret or did that just never work
maybe I'm just confusing his voice with dutch
I think NMPD HQ is the first mission I completed without dying in odst... and also my favorite mission in the entire series so far
Composer is so good
Yeah idk how I missed that
(It has been a minute)
odst is fun but it would be nicer if they would stop stealing my power weapons
Who is stealing the power weapons from you in ODST?
NPCs didn't gain the ability to freely pick up stronger weapons from the ground until Infinite
I think they mean how every time you go back to mombasa streets you end up with an SMG and pistol again.
Hey anyone on Xbox want to play infinite?

"Welcome to Reach."
so wait basically the 3 starting levels of the remake are purely sgt. johnson levels right?
since master chief is in cryosleep?
Weāll see.
Where is cortana at the end of halo reach? I forgot
on the pillar of autumn
Delivered to the pillar of autumn with Keyes on board.
No, the prequel missions are about Chief and Johnson and take place before the Fall of Reach
But we do not know anything else about what the three missions will be about
no ADV, don't you know that Chief was put directly into cryosleep after graduating spartan school??
Always wanted to explore the part of the war before Reach
Most of it has been pretty explored via the novels
It's mainly the 2540's where we don't have as much so I would like the missions to be set in that decade
And well, we know the UNSC was working on personal energy shields for quite some time before it became a standard feature of Mjolnir with the Mark V. It's not outside the realm of possibility that Chief wore a Mark IV suit with a prototype shield generator on a mission or two
Seems... when Noble Six made the last stand, Chief had already been inactive in cryo for several days.
Master Chiefās last active combat before Noble Six died was the Battle of Sigma Octanus IV in July 2552.
After that, he was involved in preparations for Operation: RED FLAG and shipboard readiness while the Pillar of Autumn was being refit at Reach.
Days before August 30, 2552 (Noble Sixās death), Chief was placed into cryo-sleep aboard the Autumn as the ship prepared to depart.
Sounds boring. I'd rather play as Sgt. Johnson in the prequel missions. That'd be a new experience.
The prequel missions are set before the Fall of Reach, not during
Like, they're gonna be before Chief got his Mark V armour
These seem to be the 2 major master chief mission after his graduation from spartan college and before reach
Battle of harvest
Battle of Sigma Octanus IV
Whatever it is, it's gotta be auraful
Not cheeks like the tv show
It's apparently when Chief gains reputation as a "decisive leader", a possible moment of HYPE
Its gonna be weird to have 3 missions meant to show us how johnson and chief became friends, only to play the base campaign and see johnson die like 3 different times š
Where are you getting this info from?
I'm betting Johnson will be made invincible in the remake during gameplay
We'll still see him "die" to the Flood during 343 Guilty Spark
I wonder if they'll do a post credits scene recreating the scene in First Strike where Chief discovers he survived
Sounds about right
This would be cool actually. Maybe even a new legendary ending
Which I know would be different to the original game but I could see them doing it
Its a longshot but itd be cool to get another couple missions as dlc as a sort of adaptation of first strike
hell yea son š¤
The franchise used to be so good. Then came tons and tons of micro transactions to replace credits or simply completing task for armour and skins. Then came unfinished games where the campaign would drop with 4 multiplayer maps and the rest would be released a year later. Then came season passes being pushed non stop. This franchise bit the bullet long ago and itās so sad because it is easily a Top 10. Sad to see it tank.
Sorry just quick rant.
343i/HS Grunt humor has consistantly been in top form
Even Halo 4 had a few funny bits (mostly in Spartan Ops)
Though that is mainly because of how less expressive the Covenant were in Halo 4 + the Grunts' lack of english
icl halo 2 sux
easily worst shooter I ever played lol
Whoa, based alert?
Micro transactions generate revenue. They aren't going anywhere.
And the new gen players grew up with them. It's just accepted.
I liked the season passes!
The unfinished games hurt though. A lot. Hopefully we don't see that again.
For me that was Halo 3
I hope we dont reach a point where games releasing unfinished become accepted
ET enters the chat
me when drones:
Kat: "Enemy troops from above" grunt I exploded falls out of the sky
I think I speak for everyone when I say:
What?
King, Iām confused too
Master freak thank you for all the Purple Hearts
Yeah. I know you fought valiantly
Halo CE and Halo 2 looking on ominously in the corner
The flipside being that games of that era had to cut content early and hard to meet release deadlines.
dos anyone have tips for fighting elites on herioc in halo 1, im having trouble with them on my first heroic playthrough
Unload an entire clip of your assault rifle into them from 5 meters away
Then swap to pistol and shoot them in the head when their shield breaks
I mean like if there are multiple, like 2 or 3. cuz the SECOND i turn a corner im getting blasted š
tbh in halo 1 just sticky them
grenades?
Yes
Get a plasma pistol or rifle, preferably the latter.
You could use a plasma pistol and shoot them but that's not cool
plasma pistol lowkey fun tho
As opposed to them not doing that now?
Ok if it's fun then yeah just use that to destroy their shields then shoot em in the head with the magnum
the magnum is cracked ngl
I just didn't want to suggest the meta noob combo right off the bat lol
It's intended gameplay.
also how tf is the big C gonna be scoping with that pistol.
Charge that plasma pistol or stun them with the plasma rifle then load lead into them till they hit the floor
i KNEW the plasma pistol was goated
I kind of wish 343i flipped this on its head with the Knights and Solders
Lead or Kinetic ammo tears through their armor, plasma deals extra damage to their insides
If they did do this in 5 then I never noticed
I think they're more heavily damaged by hardlight in 5.
I really like the hunters in odst/reach
What mission are you on
two betrayals on heroic
ts almost made me break my moniter
But doesn't hardlight perform similarly to human ammo? It has been a minute so I could be mistaken
Be glad you aren't on Legendary
š
Two Betrayals on Legendary was such a pain in the butt
i've actually played the game on normal a LONG time ago, but now im doing heroic
I do not want to do that again
Fun
I was plesantly suprised by The Library on Legendary
It was nowhere as bad as I thought
and then two betrayals just WALKS on in
At least it's not assault on the control room
istg im supposed to be THE MASTER CHEIF and im getting thrown around like a green ping pong ball
The worst part of that is the random dudes with rocket launchers
i probably have a skill issue though š
They aren't that bad once you realize their position
We all have skill issue
"The Last Spartan" is cool and all, but '117" blows it out of the water as a theme for Chief
The song is just pure heroism on display
Halo 3 is tuff
Just another āDied to nothingā type death in firefight. No grenades, no rockets shot at my feet. I had a Hydra! A few hydra missiles are survivable! So tired of this happening!
Thatās about to be the fakest death Iāve ever had in FF, and itās 0% my fault. A Hydra is not supposed to 1 shot you!
I just watched a marine run another marine over with a hog š
that final mission is sooo badass
did the ai get worse with mcc or...
After two days of trying to fix this abysmal mess that is the Microsoft store and scalping my windows files like a highly irate surgeon, Halo Wars 2 is FINALLY installing properly and I might be able to finish my decade-ly Halo anthology playthrough.
We might be back.
When I'm in a "make something that doesn't work" competition and Microsoft is my opponent
onedrive deletes halo wars 2
I am forever greatful that I never had to put up with Games For Windows Live
I haven't used that in so long lol
anyone else feel bad about killing engis
Well, it doesn't exist anymore
Hasn't for over a decade now
Is the Bloodblade any stronger than a standard Energy Sword?
I hate to sound "Sega hire this man" but holy cow are the renders and designs Chokepoint Games put out stunning
Ik they used some of their ship renders for the Encyclopedia
i see halsey is just as crazy as the show lol
about to loot a plasma sword and it fell through the floor š«
I just did the full run through of the Halo Campaign Evolved Demo on Halo 1 by running pass everyone and I can say that I didn't even lose all my health, I lost one bar and I only got down to yellow cause I fell down the cliff to get to the crashed Pelican and got my health right back. Sometimes the enemy let me walked right past them like I was one of them for a brief second. It only took me 10 minutes, maybe 9 minutes compared to the usual 7 minutes you can do it. Now I did do it on Easy cause I actually can't handle Legendary, but again, it looked the exact same just without sprint. Sprint changes nothing about the remake
The silent cartographer?
Yep
I agree. 117 remains one of, if not, the greatest piece of music Kazuma Jinnouchi has ever written!
With the current direction, I don't think we'll ever get this kind of piece, or Green and Blue, ever again.
That's fine. They exist. That satisfies me.
I saw this comment under the video: '3:29 Those 5 notes bring me back to Halo 3', but the funny thing is that.. that fanfare is from Gustav Holts' Saturn, which is again found in What Makes Us Human in Halo Infinite.
I also love how Jinnouchi based the underlying percussion based on the Halo triplet melody. This piano version really shows it: https://youtu.be/8hmqoh-hfqY?si=3pwtaOLN-LbVOnL7
Man I wish they'd have Jeff Steitzer do voiceovers for more trailers and videos
Him saying "The campaign of the decade" is seered into my brain
Reach was fun
Always
how'd you get a copy of it?
...Really?
Online download
Or I just played CE on MCC
Halo 4 has my favorite ar
I thought it was just given to certain people like influencers. Where would you dl it if it's public now?
There is no public build of Halo Campaign Evolved available
There was a private build released before the announcement at HCS and the build was available at the finals, but nothing outside of that
Oh, reading it again it might be that they just did normal ce and compared it to the demo? what an odd way to word it if that's the case.
CE has my favorite AR.
The color scheme, design, the fire rateā¦
Visegrad Scout is the canon coating for the sidekick, with the right model as well that is.
I would assume, like real world firearms, the UNSC weapons also come in different colours based off of various factors
I doubt that all Sidekicks would have the exact same colour scheme
So maybe Platinum Anniversary is accurate for trying to recreate the CE sniper?
I don't think there's any coating which would make it look accurate to the CE sniper
ah man.
Platinum is close though.
Been using the veteran weapon models for Sidekick, S7, and M41.
I said that
I also kind of wrote it in a rush
Idk the halo 4 one is just so punchy and I immediately started having fun with it
Usually I just dump it for the br right away lol
Halo 4's AR is one of the best in the series alongside Halo 5's
Bungie stands would be raging and cursing if they read all of that
Nah infinite is they took away its headshot multiplier and it's still a killing spree gun
Nice to see Gen 2 armor be represented properly in the artwork. Hopefully itāll mean theyāll respect and keep the Gen 2 designs to be incorporated in the future properly
I'm just seeing the logo change. I never really loved that Campaign Evolved one anyway.
HAPPY 25 YEAR ANNIVERSARY HALO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whoaaaaaaaa prometheans are weird
Banished Spartans in halo 7
Hopefully better looking armor in Halo 7
Halo 5's AR is great, my only problem is that it is far to effective of a gun
Especially for a starting weapon
Still, it absolutely looks the part
I love how they called back to Halo CE's pre-release designs and added the white stripe and green grip
I liked the end of forerunner but it felt a little railroady
4 is probably the most linear game in the series with the possible exception of Halo 2
I like how the beginning of the forerunner construct area opens up as if to symbolize the game opening up though
Hey
Need tactical playlist to add BR (like Swat mode from previous games).
Also make tactical playlist popular
Searching for games is crazy long
You playing on Xbox 360?
No lol pc
Same here
finding it hard to believe the servers for that are still up
Same it's insane too
Xbox 360 is like a almost 21 year old piece of tech lol (came out in 2005)
almost old enough to drink and gamble
not like i think it should be doing either of those things
Almost? Where I live you can gamble and drink at age of 18 already
yeah well america's a little bit less lenient as far as that goes
and for a good reason imo
Yes
The point of 5/Infinite balance philosophy is to make so there's not really a 'starting gun' and to give players more options for viable weapon choice.
Except for the whole 'legally able to gamble on everything' issue, which is rapidly causing mass psychosis.
Yeah but that kind of defeats the point of Halo's design. The point is that your starting weapons are "fine" but not super effective, giving you incentive to go out and find more powerful weapons on the map
The game's weapons are all fun and satisfying, but sometimes they can feel a little shallow when they are all viable picks
I'm gonna stop you right there, that's always been one of the dumbest things people about Halo's weapon design that people have ever clung to and is directly in opposition to the concept of a balanced arena shooter.
There's a reason BR starts are normally much more popular.
Yes, for ranked play
For all play.
But social play is different, it is ment to be lighter and less intense
I'd rather have the starting weapons be viable regardless of if it's social or ranked and not be stuck in matches where as soon as someone grabs a BR on the enemy team, they're dominating for the rest of the game while my team is stuck with an AR which is near useless and a pistol which is useless (Looking at you Halo 3)
Which is why, for example, Halo 2 starts you off with the SMG and not the BR. People aren't going to start off running around getting headshots like in ranked play
Could I ask, does anyone know what armour the Blue Hayabusa is wearing in the anniversary poster? I recognise the helmet as the Infinite Hayabusa but iirc Infinite only had the helmet, so is the chest piece and such in the artwork from a different armour?
Fotus chest, I recognise the shoulders but can't remember the name off the top of my head. Give me a few minutes to double check the name
Shoulders are the Segmented Pauldron from the Agitator bundle in the store
And huh, I just noticed they have a prosthetic arm, neat
Thank you very much! The character looks really cool so I was thinking of trying to recreate them in game
It's just that cool
I think Halo works best when you have an effective weapon off the rip. You should never feel helpless.
Personally I think the best two starting weapons recently have been the H5 magnum and the Bandit EVO. Both handy over short to medium range. And reversal capability in suitable skilled hands (ie. not mine).
I didn't like the Infinite BR as a starting weapon. It was a little too effective at long range. And it's not easy to nerf with it's burst fire mechanism.
But you are also right - there needs to be viable weapons to scavange for. And power weapons / equipment that are worth dying for. But it's OK to be that player that is comfortable spawning and just happy to run and around and kill people with the initial loadout.
You aren't helpless, the starting weapon is there to nudge you to think about using your grenades and melee (and equipment/ablities). Speaking from personal exprience, the Halo 3 AR is still viable so long as you understand that it isn't the only tool in your kit
The H5 Magnum was pretty great
Halo 2 is also hated for forcing SMG starts.
Which is why Halo 3 brought by the AR
Which is still trash.
Yeah. I remember not being fond of those.
H3 AR is strong, unless you're someone who will run around in the open and then complain as you get shot by something more long range in which case yeah
Its pretty much always used in BRs which is interesting - not saying its always the primary because...its BRs, but its not a useless secondary (like if the H2 magnum was)
AR melee combo is pretty good
go play ascension smg starts against a decent team and then tell me how you feel.
I'm a (somewhat) new halo fan!
Get in the robot Spartan
more like a mech if you mean the mantis.
I'm just using it as an example
^
okay, if you spawn with a weak weapon, there's a greater chance for a lopsided game.
Nah it's just good. A lot of things beat it
Not if everybody else is also spawning with said weapon
The goal is to work as a team and take positions across the map
Johnny Pro on the other team found the BR and killed Jimmy on your team, who is now stuck with an AR again as Johnny Pro continues to destroy your team
And thats why BR starts are better than AR.
okay, your team found better weapons, but died and are now back in the spawn areas while the other team are in the power positions and shooting and killing your team with br's when you try to move across the map. You can't engage them because you only have smgs. now repeat the cycle every time you die. How would this not result in a lopsided game?
Should be a BR in every spawn or close to it.
And depending on the game they spawn very fast. If not, there are other long range options.
this person said a lopsided game wouldn't happen if people spawn with smgs which is false considering it happens all the time. it would happen less if both teams were evenly skilled due to some weapons spawning near spawn areas like you mentioned, but that's not the case a lot of the time. I'll also add that the map can play a big part of it as well and I'd go back to my ascension example.
Also weapons respawn on a timer, there will not be a BR in the bases every time you respawn in them
Terrible map
Some games have BRs spawn in every 10 seconds
The SMG really isnt bad. Itās just the recoil on thatā¦
So far I enjoy most of the halo 4 weapons
it's not good individually because of dual wielding.
I don't know anyone who was a fan of smg starts.
SMG starts were way better than the Plasma Rifle starts on Midship
I totally forgot about that. Or plasma pistol starts in CE
that was basically just throw plasma nades.
Which is why thereās a radar. Iām hearing a lot of skill issue takes
The question is what was the best starts for comp?
CE pistol, BR, DMR, H5 pistol, or Bandit Evo?
CE pistol is not best for comp in present day halo dawg š
I do quite like the Bandit Evo
Sometimes I wonder if people even read the questions I ask.
However, what do you think is the best?
Yea I read the question. Why even suggest a 3 shot kill weapon in a game with no spread
Diamond players always tryna throw in opinions š
Onyx but whatevs
Onyx in infinite is free money
And the CE pistol has a skill gap lol
š
Praying for it's return as well.
Due to spread
CE does have spread, itās only in hardcore that it doesnāt on the pistol / sniper. That being said CE pistol is one of the more competitive on the list he gave
Bro, what weapon do you think is the best?
It is fun to use, if he can't see it, he must be a gold player or social slayer.
In the current present day halo it would not work
It will always be the BR for me because online exists and the spread being calculated differently to account for it is a huge+
Iām 2k onyx, champ in h5, and an old Xbox mcc 40 h3 hardcore
I really enjoy the H3 BR
I couldnāt think of a better way to exemplify the skill gap between the older titles, a 40 in hardcore oof
Ok, cool
I never said that? I just explained the reasoning behind 2 (which I was just using as an example) using SMG starts
š my bad og
Everybody knew 50s who were horrible, same with Onyx etc thereās a reason why to competitive players those are the starting points
Are you ever going to say what weapon you prefer? Or are you going to be lowkey toxic?
Yea Iāll name a few horrible hardcore players
But to stick with it yeah I donāt see single shot weapons being competitive enough online with the shot reg problems that will always exist
H5 magnum is my favorite
Was that so hard?
I love CE but it just wouldnāt work in present day halo
Apparently it was...
Why do you keep saying the present day halo part?
I mean I get it but thatās not the question he asked, it seems weird to keep throwing that in like itās relevant
I think I prefer the H3 BR, because of how you have to lead your shots at a certain range, but the first shot is guaranteed(right @glacial tartan?)
So you can counter a sniper.
Don't take the bait
I thought he was asking what would be the best weapon to use for weapon starts in current infinite or something
Or a newer halo
The question is what was the best starts for comp?
CE pistol, BR, DMR, H5 pistol, or Bandit Evo?
We donāt have to guess. Itās right up there. Within our grasp!
āThe question is what was the best starts for comp?
CE pistol, BR, DMR, H5 pistol, or Bandit Evo?ā
So that assumes within the context of each game, with hindsight, etc.
A better question for you is BR75 or Bandit evo?
Bandit
Yes the networking on this was so thoughtful, you can tell they learned from H2 to H3.
H4 railgun starts
Why is that?
It is wonderful when people don't know the rules of comp for a game and give feedback for it.
What was that mode called again?
I think the H3 BR is one of the best comp guns. Although, I really do enjoy the Bandit.
Maps are too small in infinite for the BR, makes the gun way too strong and easy
If youāre hinting at me not knowing the rules for comp, youāre in for a rude awakening š
You pretty much admitted that for CE... you could know about the rules for H5 and Infinite and not for CE.
Go look at all of my ranks for MCC on this account. I play it regularly. All I said is that thereās spread in CE šš
And panda said in hardcore there isn't spread. So you didn't know something, which is perfectly fine. Just because you got to 40 or 50 doesn't mean you knew the rules.
It just means you played matchmaking enough to get the rank.
How well did you follow the games comp scene or what was your best placement would be a better answer.
Anyways have a great summer, I see this convo going in an endless loop
Thereās still spread in hardcore even though it says thereās not. MCC ce is screwed over, however the spread isnāt as horrible. It just depends on your pc frame rate.
You are delusional as hell if you think someone could just walk to a rank without understanding the game š
Have fun in diamond 4 and rank 11 in radar slayer šš
I have barely been playing infinite, for the time I am at I don't find ranked matches. So I have been playing aocial H3 instead. I have only played 12 ranked games in MCC and the 11 should be hardcore doubles.
A 3 in team slayer.
And rank means nothing. There was a dude in infinite who legit was a Plat 4 and got carried to the highest rank a few seasons ago, by abusing how the ranking system works.
For all we know you could be one of the dudes who bought their rank or abused the system as well.
I know golds with more passion than you.
I will have fun learning and getting better.
I would stop with the weird ranked comparison, there's always a bigger fish š
There really is.
Yea MagicL gives me belt you right
ggs vs the wizard
God forbid I have a life and donāt care to pursue a halo career š
And hear me out, Iām not the best halo player of all time. Iām just saying hereās the evidence for me playing the game, I know what Iām talking about
This is a bit of a misunderstanding of whats going on here, rest assured in ranked theres not spread for the pistol/sniper specifically š (and the spread is not tied to framerate either, that was a misreading of what was happening too)
Ok well my bad then Iām just trash!
š¤£
I didnt say or imply that. Its a super common misunderstanding
We all are at the end of the day
No Iām being sarcastic with you dude š
š
If I guess your favorite Halo. Can I have a cookie?
Yea
H5
Nah, H3
How about we bury the hatchet and one day play h3 together. You could probably teach me something as I just started playing as I didn't have an xbox back then.
Yea Iām down, I donāt play that much anymore due to work but Iām still on my Xbox š
You can add me anywhere and next time Iām online Iāll send an invite
Glad we we came to a resolution.
I recently played halo infinite and it was meh
my friend recommend halo 5 but I heard its worse than infinite by far. what do you guys think?
Halo 5's fine, only real issue is that it's an Xbox One only title.
Try it out yourself
It's problably the closest game to Infinite for Halo that exists.
hopefully they'll release it on other consoles soon since they're branching away from exclusives
or at least pc
Late reply, but I guess I misinterpreted you saying 'not if everyone spawns with the same weapon' then. edit: n/m.
ok I'm finally home and the mantis is so much fun
you didn't see it?
Campaign isn't very good but it is still worth playing to complete the series and get some context for Infinite
There are still some cool moments and locations present
But the campaign is just lacking some oomf in regards to the level design and enemy encounters
Only good thing about Halo 5 is Buck
A lot of the downgrades to enemy AI from Halo 4 are still present, certain ranks got mechanically altered to compensate for the squad mechanics, said squad mechanics have to compensate for being put into a Halo game, ect.
But don't just take my word for it. Play it and make up your mind
no it's just so huge
I like how the marines shooting corpses thing has gotten actually worse
The only good thing about Reach is Emile dying
I like that punchy boom
0/10 Ragebait
Well, yeah, because it's not ragebait
It does sound like one though
Womp womp
As you literally said the only good thing about Reach is Emile š
I mean if you're willfully cutting out one word, sure
who's emile again?
is that the guy with the edgy visor paint
bro died so unceremoniously lol
not sure if he actually did anything with his death
"I'll race you" teleports to the end of the map
He mostly spends Halo Reach failing at every mission he is given.
how can he be such an edgy guy but also a goofball... literally we had warthogs and he's like "go on ahead noble 6" then teleported to the end anyway š
Which likely was not intended whatsoever
idk maybe he was supposed to get in the warthog but I was in a daze or something and didnt' actually hear anything he said
oh wait they weren't warthogs they were the little mongooses
yeah and he was pmo so I just left him lmao
i feel personally attacked
I mean he was pretty cool though, just was going too slow
I was trying to run through and head shot as many things as possible and he was goofing off under the bridge
the whole thing was grim and solemn. I think in a normal game I would feel really deeply sad and emotional but bc it's Halo I'm playing a Spartan and sort of took it in a stoic way
Hello everyone
actually what really pmo was how they did kat
so true it's crazy to think about how the halo ai hype was just marketing
it's actually worse in halo 4
i love how kat's death has yet to get an lore reason for why it broke though her helmet
the hog turret gunner just shooting corpses for minutes
prioritizing corpses over living enemies... like his eyes are a cone directly in front of his face and he has no peripheral vision
hi i guess
good evening
other than the ai being bad, Reach is pretty peak
How are you
yeah actually the ai didn't bother me as much in reach it was pretty good all things considered
4's AI got a massive downgrade because
A: things lost in translation between teams
B: the Xbox 360 was a year away from being obsolete
Same here, am new here
the invulnerable teammates was weird tho
aight weird person
You think am weird
they really should of taken some form of damage
I think he thinks ur grammar is weird imo it's weird to call someone weird for that but w.e
and then got revived halo 5 style
My grammar weird????
idk at all
that was pure conjecture on my part. anyway welcome hope you enjoy halo
na objectivly halo reach is the best halo
Thanks for the warm welcome! Can't wait to dive into Halo and have some fun
whats up the string of people hunting for a late night chat on discord?
yeah I mean the sfx are 11/10
true
the music is 10/10, the guns are 10/10, the story is 10/10,
literally my only complaint is ai, but that's not unique to reach
yeah, yeah very true
and iirc it was the best halo for multiplayer at the time
Hey! Just hanging out, looking for some late-night chat. Whatās good with you?
š
anyway I'm playing mass effect I need a break from halo
going from playing john to playing john
also my warrior in final fantasy 1 is named john lol
Has anyone tried playing infinity kingdom?
Who's saying so
you are bot
If that's what you think then its fine
Raid Shadow Legends in the corner : š”
Bro I dont think I can wait all year
I just want to make it so November has come
They got a chance to make the second half of halo CE good now
Recently rediscovered this banger. I really wish this theme ended up in halo 5 or infinite, its so cool š
I could absolutely see this in a future Halo game. I this theme on it's own has given me so many crazy ideas of how they could set up the customisation menu.
I think it would work so well as either the menu theme for customising your spartan or in campaign for setting up the MC's equipment.
Just going by sound and title of the track.
Yeah it definitely sounds like a theme for a customization menu or something. Though funny enough i envisioned this playing in a final mission kind of scenario for the campaign. Like this would play as chief and some marines do a final push against an enemy stronghold or something like that
Infinites ost needed more of this type of energy which has been largely absent in Halo 3 and beyond (except for Reach which had a couple rock tracks)
Kind of made me think of a cutscene building up to a final confrontation where the MC and marines are gearing up preparing for battle.
Ooh a suit up and gear up scene fits as well
For server moderation concerns, please send a direct message to @upbeat plover.
Would the covenant have been successful in completing the great journey if the prophets hadnāt betrayed the elites?
Problably.
Just casual modes most likely
A lot of people never touch Ranked/Competitive modes
Campaign I get bc it's seperate and payed
And customs is really just a preference thing, and tbh I can see how some people haven't
I have like over 2k hours and barely any customs bc I just don't enjoy them much
No
It auto equips the BUTLR AI when you load the game, whether you've done the training mode or not
Also completing the campaign I can see why it's so low
Bc a lot of people dislike Infinite's campaign, or just haven't played
For me, most of them were like when I started
Which was a few years ago
Or really hopefully all of CE. Seriously that game was just one giant chore to play through that annoyed me constantly and drained me at the end of each level
Am I the only one who feels like the advertising for the 25 years of Halo celebration looks to happy go lucky? Haloās atmosphere has changed so much, it went from ābrink of extinction fighting for survivalā to āyay! Iām a super soldier killing aliens!ā Any thoughts?
Itās advertising for a celebration, of course itās going to be fun and positive
how would you propose it look?
I guess I just prefer the tone of the older games, but I do really like playing Infinite despite the shift in tone
I wouldn't really say the older games were all that dark and grim honestly
Like, yeah humanity was on the back foot but it didn't feel like it was going for this feeling of everything is hopeless
TBH, Haloās original artstyle never made it look that bleak to me, just sort of a āwow, like at this mysterious and wondrous epic sci-fi adventure weāre on!ā With CE and then just sort of more epic yet kind of cartoonish with 2 and 3
Halo Reach is where it looked bleak and depressing and 4/5 was gritty and epic looking and Infinite is just⦠CE again
Yeah those games werenāt like NieR levels of bleak and depressing
Sidenote, I always appreciated how the classic Halo trilogy would avoid unnecessary melodrama like that. Even Reach with all its somber scenes stayed away from it and the marines around you were always ready to continue the fight even though the destruction of the planet was inevitable
Its why i seriously dont vibe with the later stories, even Infinite's more grounded story with the pilot
I just didnāt vibe with the classic games artstyle for the UNSC
Which is why Infiniteās artstyle was so disappointing beyond the stuff with color saturation
I was kind of hoping they'd lean more towards this for Campaign Evolved
Keeping the original geometry of a lot of the structures, but adding some polish and detail in a way that stays true to the original look
I donāt see the problem
Tbh, I just prefer 343ās direction with artstyle overall before the awful Infinite change
With a few tweaks, you can make the Infinite marines look much better. The main issue is the colouring of their armour not having enough contrast. As per the example I have, making the cloth parts of their BDUs a grey colour and the solid armour pieces green makes the design work much better
The CE remake comes off as a nice retro sort of alteration
Does look like an improvement
Still plain in terms of color though
Like the paint is new
This was just me doing a very quick edit in Blender a few months back to see if an idea someone else had would work
Still though. Thatās the sort of problem with Infiniteās artstyle (among other things), where the coloring comes off as like everything is freshly painted onto the armor with a simple material
I always thought 3's marine struck a perfect balance between 1 and 2's
Reach tried to look a little more tacticool. I dont hate it but yeh def not as unique as the very green, camoed bois from 3
I didnāt really care for how the marines looked in 3. 4 was pretty jarring with the color switch up and Reach was honestly the best look
They just looked really generic in the classic games with the ODST standing out for looking different and unique
You know the Infinite marines are directly based on the Reach marines, right?
A little ironic. The Reach marines are almost the same as the ones from Infinite
Closer to what Iād like to imagine how space soldiers should look
