Textures are all high res, the poly count is very nice in the places where it matters, the post processing effects are exactly as subtle as they need to be while still adding all they need to, everything is PBR, the lighting effects are as good as it gets without ray tracing (if you don't have it enabled) while still being relatively cheap... I could go on

I disagree with the high res textures, a lot of them are absolutely very nice but a lot of the important ones like your gloves are painfully low resolution compared to what they should be

specifically the rubber material on the Mk 7 gloves

I'm also not a big fan of the shaders for the spartans but thats just a nitpick

and fair enough, the post processing is very subtle and i really like them

But i don't agree with the lighting

This game is an incredibly lonely experience. Even with me being a part of this Discord server, I don't find myself compelled to try and hook up with everyone here. We all know there is a lot of people playing Halo, but with the direction multiplayer games are going right now, I don't like how I am limited to different circles of players that are invested in the same game. Not letting people communicate with the opposing team did wonders to deter any form of toxicity, but I think it made the game feel dead than it really is.

Even playing games of Forge is silent, and that's the most social part of Halo. You can argue for sure that if I want more experience like that, I can play MCC custom games, but what about Infinite?

Not the difficulty of backtracking scavenging for guns for 10 minutes, only to give up and charge a knight with a suppressor and an old one two punch.

You have really good players that are hard to match. And really bad players that are hard to match.

The most efficient way to deal with them is to throw them together against an averaged team from the thicker part of your population.

And that maximizes the experience for the most players.

It's difficult to know what exactly goes on with only two "variables" in the system.
That being:
-Estimated wait time
-Quality of players

I mean, with a low estimated wait time we can assume that there's either a lot of players available to match with, or that the Skill criteria is extremely loose.
The quality of the players you end up with could then be an indicator of how it's leaning.

For example, yesterday I played Quick Play with an estimated wait time being 0:12-0:13.
Fair enough.
In one match I had a player who played either had their very first match, or second match on their account.
And on the enemy team, the player with the least amount of matches had just under 1500 matches played at that time.

There are only so many guesses I can do on what's going on behind the scenes.

Maybe it's just me but I been playing Infinite for awhile now, but I'm still confused how the Melee works.

One time Melee can instant kill you up-front even with 95% shield which is almost max, while other times with less shield it doesn't instant kill. Other time when someone melee but was able to melee half way through the room by somehow randomly dashing with no dashing skill then just goes back to the same place as if they didn't just do that, while other times even when you were couple inches away the melee just didn't connect cause wasn't close enough and didn't dash. And I don't ever that ever being a thing in the previous Halo game, atleast among the Halo game I did played anyway.

A ton of SBMM is just going to increase wait times too much

not going to lie this match making is crazy, I had to play vs bradford a 2200 onyx player and my team was a bunch of low plat and some new player

that was not fair game

You had a high plat/past onyx on your team, mid plat past diamond and a low plat on your team.
He only had past onyx but currently plat3 player and a bunch of noobs on his team.
Balance wise/skill will, all together it probably meshed into a mostly equal chance to have won and you seemed to have held your own quite well given the circumstances

I'm just going to guess it translates into you filling in for the noobs on his team. Just a guess. But I think of it as if you have a guy who is level 10 and his teammates are all level 2 then the average skill of the entire team would be 4.
that team matching against a team of a rating of 5, 3, 4, 4 would mathematically be fair since that also averages to a 4.
Now if the theoretical mathematical leveling out works in actual practice is the real test, but on paper it would be fair

Yep. Sometimes the MM just has to throw a match together. And it may not be as evenly matched as you would hope (especially if squads are involved).

You may still lose CSR if your MMR is lower than your CSR.

But your MMR shouldn't change much if the loss was "expected".

A minor blip in your overall ranking journey.

Thats just BTB, lotta people play it for the reason of strong vehicles :/ its the opposing teams goal to band together and take care of it, there are plenty of weapons to take down flying vehicles

This game matchmaking is awful - They seriously need to add either skill based matchmaking in or queue with people who have similar playtime. I cannot stand and be expected to go 30-2 every game to win while my teammates sit at 2-25.
