I just started playing doom eternal yesterday, and so far I’m loving it. The movement and pace of the fighting is far faster and intense then halo, but it doesn’t feel like your sweating while you fight, and an extra plus is the feeling of power you get (at least on Hurt me plenty) whereas playing on easy on halo kinda dumbs down the experience. I only have gotten halfway through the second level, but man it’s pretty fun. I have no idea what’s going on story wise though, buts that’s alright, I skipped doom 2016.

But halo is where my heart is staying.

Hey do people Lag switch in Halo Infinite

I doubt it.

Dedicated servers mean that anyone lag switching will just disrupt their own connection, rather than the old days were the host lag switching could disrupt network traffic from other players, hence the game would only mark actions from the host as valid because it wasn't receiving packets by other players. At least that's the gist anyway.

Of course, you can still lag switch in peer-to-peer multiplayer games, but they're rare these days, at least in the console space.

Stellaris on controller is actually surprisingly easy to get used to. I say this after hundreds of hours on PC before trying out console.

My living room tv is cool for large gaming, but I'll be honest that I prefer sitting at my PC now to game to tv gaming as I feel I have a better line of sight. Maybe it's getting older, but switching over has been helpful to me. My monitor is 34 inch/165hz/1ms and I am pleased with it.

I can play Civ on console, but I have all the dlc on my account on my cousins pc, (long story) but I haven’t done stellaris on console simply because I’ve heard the console version is extremely poorly optimized

Only PC purchase I regret is battlefront 2 (2005) as omg the steam controls are so bad. I have to use a mixture of keyboard/controller as it's wonky to use the mouse. 80% of the game is playable without touching your keyboard...but some things you pick up or to review inventory...and handle your jumping...you need the spacebar. 💀

My whole armory is bugged. Right now my Chimera isn't wearing a helmet, like it's unequipped. And the helmet it's showing is Mark VII, with a completely different coating than the rest of the armor.

Funny how the game can bug cross-core armor and individual gear coatings into existence.

I know we got a Community Collections Playlist with maps like Starboard and Salvation which are what I would call "re-imaginings" of the classic maps Midship and Damnation. But man, I really we got a "Classics" playlist with more faithful recreations of old maps like midship and damnation. I've put in some maps from other forgers as an example of the kinds of remakes/remasters I would have preferred in in this kind of playlist.

Anyways, my point is if we had a playlist with settings adjusted to more closely align with Classic Halo (I.E. Halo 3/without sprint) and with more visually and mechanically faithful recreations of the old maps available in official matchmaking, I think that would help make Halo Infinite feel more like an actual Halo game.

I apologize for the late reply. I typed most of this response up the day you asked but then I fell asleep. “ODST we remember” and everything I said about that still seems like an inconsistency to me. In addition to that, the distinction between different kinds of glassing seems a little strange to me though I don’t know if that bit of lore comes from Bungie or 343i. It’s weird that Lord Hood would make a big deal about half a continent being glassed and compare the glassing to something as awful as a flood infestation if the consequences of the glassing are so minimal you can’t even tell anything happened. I don’t know what era that lore was added. If I had to guess Id lean toward 343i but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Bungie because I think their games are riddled with inconsistencies. Whatever era it came from it’s still dumb. But the reason I’m generally more critical of 343i as storytellers is because I always found the storytelling in Bungie’s games to be the least fleshed out aspect of the games and also the least important. You get the sense when playing their games that they didn’t take it that seriously. It’s not really about the story. It’s about the atmosphere. The story exists to set the atmosphere. With 343i there’s all this high concept pretentious (imo) sci fi. You’ve gotta have a PHD in Halopedia just to understand what’s even going on. Both studios games were riddled with inconsistency. But Bungie knew they were making a goofy game.

With the different practices of glassing, that's all on Bungie. Examples from The Fall of Reach, as well as examples seen in Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo Reach.

So far as Bungie not taking their story that serious... I definitely see that as a weakness. The Campaign is absolutely about the story, not just the atmosphere. However I do not think that Bungie "knew they were making a goofy game". Halo 2 alone flies in the face of this view. Bungie's problem is that their development for almost every game was riddled with interior conflicts and commitment issues.

People forget that changing the backend to T2 / TM in MCC ruined Halo 3. It turned a 50 into a 25.

Bots are quite honestly free kills. They often go 1-14 or something like that in games. They'd be a detriment and it's best to keep them out of ranked.

The idea is to see how good you are against players after all.

Second hit straight up bounces off the hood and goes straight up into the air.

Third Shot bounces off the tire.

in a recent tweet from forge lord, regarding why quickplay often rotates some maps/modes out while adding new ones, he stated that it had, in part, to do with how often a users will be forced to wait for the chance to play a map. If the playlist has more maps and modes, there can be a longer wait to get the map and mode you want. So they keep it at a certain percentage, to alleviate that perceived wait time.

ofc, in my opinion, none of that would be neccesarry if we had the MCC way of quickplay, selecting what you want to have and not have in your own rotation

the simple reason 2 and 3 are infinitely better stories then 4 and 5 is because they have continuity. 2 & 3 are far from perfect and maybe the marketing misrepresented 3, but it was still a great campaign despite that. The marketing didnt vastly oversell what the game was.

Is the current cosmetics situation ideal? Nope. But i can appreciate still being able to play online without paying anything extra
