The IWHBYD skull achievement in Halo 2 MCC is given too early. If you’re going to take out the ability to activate the skulls by picking them up and instead reward an achievement for doing so the achievement should be rewarded for what would have been activating the skull in the original game. In the original game the skull didn’t activate after picking it up. It teleported you to the ground with only a plasma pistol and you had to fight 7 waves of ultra elites (with the amount of elites increasing with each wave) some of which held unique weapons like battle rifles and beam rifles, and only after killing all of them (so 28 ultra elites on legendary in an enclosed space you can’t leave) would you actually see the words I Would Have Been Your Daddy flash across the screen and activate the skull. Getting the skull to spawn was the easy part. But in MCC it’s all there is to it. Getting the FULL skull the classic way is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in Halo.

Every time I do an “all collectibles” run of the games I do the skull the classic way. The only way I can pull it off is by meticulously planning checkpoints so I can keep trying the Ultra fight, meleeing a crate and jumping onto the bridge so I’m safe (but be careful jumping on it toward the wall or you could be teleported back to the ground) and stocking a ton of weapons (mostly plasma pistols and battle rifles) on the bridge. The achievement should mean something. Doing the full IWHBYD skull the proper way is the hardest skull in all of Halo. At the very least you should get an additional achievement for doing the full challenge.

Snipers only require one headshot to kill a fully shielded spartan, everything else requires the enemy to be unshielded before a headshot bonus applies (yes, even with the AR). Hope I understood your question correctly.

Repetitive unvaried enemy’s. Weak level design. The Oracle features 3 holdout firefight sections in a row at the start. They’re definitely the weakest in the game for me. Quarantine Zone, Uprising and The Great Journey are much better but I still prefer the Chief levels for the most part.

Yeah, best to avoid headshots until you break their shields. If you have a burst weapon, you can use the final burst to break their shields and headshot them though. But with the pistol, which you spawn with in quickplay, you need 6 shield shots and then 1 headshot to kill an enemy fast.

Yeah, aiming at the head when their shields are low still is probably a good strategy specifically with burst weapons

I'd say 2nd holdout is doesn't needed to be present. 1st is really short introduction to flood and actually pretty cool. The 3d one os too long but again we see how heretics holding their grounds to this new enemy. And honestly I don't remember last time I completed this mission property. I always cheese this all.

Fighting one rank of grunts, two ranks of elites and one rank of sentinals only in The Arbiter. Then flood and a boss battle are added to the mix in The Oracle and flood in general aren’t as fun to fight. The Oracle suffers from 3 sections where you’re stuck in place holding off enemies. The first I agree is cool and I actually really like that room and exploring along the top. The second and third though are a slog. Especially on higher difficulties. Sacred Icon is flood and sentinals (now including good sentinals, enforcers and constructors if you want to count them) and technically also marines. Would have been cool if you actually got to fight the marines for real in Sacred Icon and Quarantine Zone.

If you can get to the marines in Sacred Icon they will actually try to kill you. There’s also a pelican in Quarantine Zone that carry’s a scorpion and it can shoot at you or flood or sentinels. A lot of people think it’s manned by flood but it’s actually marines.

I'd say last 2 levels for the chief are the weakest. Gravemind is cool in concept... But I just instantly flashbacks truth and reconciliation with the same neverending corridors. And the last one have kinda great atmosphere of flood in it... But this is the same corridors again!

I think it’s awesome. The intro cutscene. Fighting the brutes for the first time. The civil war. The marine rescue. I think the outdoor sections are awesome with the weird swampy aesthetic.

There’s not even that much repetition and each encounter is unique. Some of the areas are similar but things are rearranged and different. I don’t know why you’d have a problem with Gravemind being repetitive but not with The Arbiter, The Oracle (where you literally backtrack to the same areas from the last level) and Sacred Icon.

I like High Chairity but I wish the warthog run wasn’t cut. It’s a very short level. Doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.

I like it. But I can see someone thinking it’s one of the weakest levels in the game. But I don’t get the hate a lot of people have for Gravemind. It’s one of my all time favorite Halo levels.

I agree with most of your list, but I'd say for Halo 4 it would probably be Shutdown, for Reach it would be New Alexandria, and 5 would be Blue Team (which I personally think is one of best levels in the series), For Infinite, I feel like it really shined outside the main missions. I had a lot of fun just escorting marines around, exploring the map, taking down Banished patrols, mixing and matching gear, and really just personalizing my playstyle.

Honestly I like most of halo 4 levels. I think I like this game more then it deserves. I picked convoy just because it kinda have cool variety of encounters and speedrun or casual strategies at the same time.

I agree. I actually really liked the longer levels in 4, the added ambiance the soundtrack adds, and no shortage of enemies or combat encounters.

I also give it bonus points because the first mission is Dawn and the last mission is Midnight, which is a nice framing touch.

CE - The Silent Cartographer (Halo and 343 Guilty Spark were close runners up)
2 - Outskirts (Metropolis, Delta Halo, Regret, Gravemind are all close runners up)
3 - The Covenant (The Storm and The Ark close runners up)
ODST - Mombasa Streets
Reach - New Alexandria
4 - Reclaimer
5 - Swords Of Sanghelios (Blue Team, Reunion and Enemy Lines all runner ups)
Infinite - Pelican Down (I would need to think about this harder but I’ll go with that for now)

Reach, 5 and Infinite I need to replay and really think about harder. But I’ll go with those for now.

Yeah it is basically a hub level. But the game considers it a mission. It’s unique in that you keep coming back to it. If we don’t count that then I’d go with the level at the zoo. Forget the name.

Uplift Reserve

It’s weird because when I think of each individual level in ODST none of them really stand out as one of my favorite all time Halo levels

Yet I love ODST as an overall package.

Does anyone know why MCC separates the “epilogues” of 3, ODST and Reach into separate missions? They weren’t their own levels in the original game. (Epilogue in Halo 4 actually was a separate level in the original game). I also dislike how they do the Halo 3 epilogue because the first part of that cutscene wasn’t even after the credits in the original game. Only the part with Chief and Cortana showing he survived. And why is the actual epilogue of CE not even in MCC at all? In the original game it showed Spark had survived after the credits.

Really wish the original credits were in the game. Also am I crazy or if you actually press the credits button in the menu and it takes you to a website - it’s just 343 credits. They don’t actually have Bungie employees who made the original games for 5 out of the 6 games in the collection or the original Halo 4 developers in the credits. Unless I’m somehow missing them but I couldn’t find them.

I actually have a lot of problems with Mombasa Streets, in particular that there were so few unique combat encounters that made revisiting it kind of boring, along with the lack of easy to recognize and distinct landmarks since the structure of the streets was so hard to distinguish a lot of the time (partly because it was dark and partly because they reused some map layouts). It just made it unfun to revisit for me once I was done with the audio logs. I did like the audio log hunt and the way the map called those out to you, but that's only there for one run through.

I do feel like it’s disrespectful to not mention the original Bungie and 343 developers who made the games in the MCC credits. Would be nice if some day they added an option to have original menus, loading screens and credits in MCC.

Halo 5's multiplayer was as fun as Halo 3's multiplayer it was fun and enjoyable imo. I am saying we need to bring Halo 5 to PC, the only reason why I say bring it because it will increase the player base on MCC. Until Infinite gets a new season Halo 5 will be another game people will enjoy. Plus it also brings the people who missed out on Halo 5 campaign to go and see what its like whether people like the story or not. New comers can decide that. Whether its adding to MCC or making a stand alone like Infinite but I think it's time to bring it to pc. I know they said they have no plans but they should plan on it.
