Right. So I was playing it lately. And thinking about its gameplay and stuff. Just to soon hit me, it's the lost forgotten brother of Batman Arkham and Shadow of Mordor. It's the same combo beat em up with an open world style of gameplay with regions and stuff, which is made from licensed ip. I was playing and thinking "huh this game sure shares a lot of similar stuff with these two, but I don't see it being mentioned in game related essays on design and stuff. Wonder why." And I played enough and like understood why. It just got nothing about it to stand out as a series or have anything special about it. I like it, but it doesn't have as much intriguing stuff going for it.

It's also sort of sad to me it doesn't go somewhere, especially since it's the youngest of the three, being released on 2015 while the other two were in 2013 and 2014. It didn't even get a follow up game an attempt to try and stand out. But it doesn't have anything. It's shallow in how it uses the setting and gameplay.
Survival mechanic. Since it's post apocalypse, there is an interesting way of how they go about healing. Instead of having medkits or such, you uh drink water that you have on you. Or you eat canned dog fod (there is no other canned food out there), or you eat birds, rats lizards or else if you actually accidentally find out about such feature by accidentally killing them or seeing a brief prompt to do so. Such way work other stuff too. Ammo for different weapons, knives and gas. Sounds like a good idea. Making it survival based game with limited resources that come by rarely.

But the problem is, all of the mentioned stuff you can just get for free if you build stuff at the base

#

And it gets worse since it is unlimited and you can basically destroy the system by basically always quick traveling to the base when you are lacking on some resources.

#

And then the whole survival mechanic is gone since there is no worry about it. Especially since you can easily upgrade Max to max on how much he can carry mid game and it becomes even lesser of s problem.

#

But then game sort of makes up for that with car mechanic. Which while in theory is great I say it's lacking. I am saying it mostly since enemy cars are barely different and don't have anything to stand out from one another and they don't really use the same weapons as you so you always sort of outplay them by having a shotgun.

#

I am kind of rambling here but I just mostly wanna do it since I swear there isn't really a study look at how Mad Max doesn't do anything interesting compared to its two brothers.

could not speak for 3ds fire emblems, i preordered awakening and played it up until they released aversa's map, married her bc that was my goal from the start, and never touched the game again. i had shadows of valencia collectors edition that sat in a cabinet for some years until i sent it to a friend of mine a year? or so ago for christmas bc at that point i was never going to feel up to playing it

I'd recommend starting a second file where you only unlock stuff that you already know you like and can make work well.

The trick is then you start to advance more quickly on that file and start encountering stuff you've never seen on your main file and have to risk unlocking that there.
