I'm currently running Hera with Stygian for Than's 30% damage achievement, if I run into Ares I might give that a shot.

Yeah, her cast needs other boons to be useful, even the base cast at least gives you the mirror bonus for staying in enemies.

but the aspect is not locked to it

the hidden aspects need
1: the spear one unlocked via having 5 other non zag aspects unlocked on any weapon
2: 5 blood dedicated into the weapon you want it for, i.e. 5 blood into bow for bow aspect
3: talk to the npc after those reqs are met and you get the "waking phrase" and you need 3 blood to actually use

I will say that shield is the way to go for first clear, and some specific duo boons

but you will just get there so there's not a need to stress, you build up a lot of power eventually

well first off, they build relationship like any other character and have bonds able to forge, (which are necessary post game for story). Outside of that, some do have prophecies but nothing more than that. and even then i dont think the prophecies are relationship bound, just luck. but i could be wrong on that front

I can't say it's the same for all of the games on Steams with achievements but Steam is able to keep some information offline

So when you play offline nothing happens but once you're able to have the connection back, you may have a lot of achievements activating

Speaking of the weapons, not including any aspects (except for the Demeter one and Zag Sword one that I’ve unlocked thus far), the one I’m having most difficulties with is the Rail

I adapted to Malphon!

The reloading time still catches me off guard

but if you want a tldr essentially you need
1: spear hidden aspect unlocked(5 non-zag aspects unlocked and talk to ||achilles||)
2: after that, 5 blood in the weapon you want the hidden aspect of in whatever aspects it currently has i.e. putting 5 blood into the sword for the sword one
3: hope you get the dialogue and talk to the respective npc

As others have said all are viable. For a shot-in-the-dark rec, I always steer people towards shield for their first unlock. Sword might be the default weapon, but shield is the Mario of this game

Bosses can always kill you much quicker than you can kill them. Always
