The main use of DR was automatic full health after a boss

Especially if you have the Contractor upgrade that gives you a life up after collecting Darkness, it's even better than DR

The final fight becomes more manageable the more hp you have left after finding the sack, so having more hp to spend before going in the tunnels with Regen is appealing

I assume you're already using Dark Thirst. Do you have all of the relevant Contractor upgrades? There's one that gives you Gemstones as well as Darkness/rare items after clearing a boss, and one that makes Dark Thirst increase Gemstones as well as Darkness

But if you're fairly new you might not have access to those for some time

@pallid bobcat do low heat, but do not take poseidon keepsake starting out. take any other god keepsake, fill out as many core slots (attack, special, cast, call, dash) and then take poseidon in asphodel. The reason for this is if you take poseidon as your first god, he will always show you core boons (attack, special etc) and will only show you things like ocean's bounty after rerolling, which is not optimal since even your chances of getting ocean's bounty are low after rerolling.

also, take every chaos gate you see and buy every light of ixion

chaos can give you +x% darkness and gems

For real though.. Divine Dash can help out a lot, along with a good Aid boon (coughArtemiscough) and something that makes the God Gauge charge up faster. Destroy the burning skulls as quickly as you can, focus on the boss itself and not any spawned enemies, then when the time comes use Greater Call. Rinse and repeat.

Avoid the flying green skulls above everything else, they temporarily double all damage done to you. A good move is to use Athena's keepsake and go for Divine Dash, to increase your chances you should get at least one die in Fated Persuasion if you have it (if you don't, it's the last Mirror upgrade). It'll let you deflect everything that hits you while you dash. You'll also be offered two Hermes boons by default in any given run, and you should definitely take them since he can increase the amount of dashes you can do in a row. It might be a good idea to reroll for that boon in particular if you got Divine Dash on your first try

id say just be aware of your surroundings and knowing the timings matters a lot. When he spawns enemies in focus those. his casts can be 2nd focus since theres so many and only 5 seconds to clear(just know where to dash if they pop). Phase 2 requires a lot of patience and just knowledge of the new moveset. In terms of build, you need something that strong and fast. I highly reccomend athena/arte dash. and for call pos/athena/ares/aphro are great. and outside of that just have fun and build what you want

If you use stubborn defiance less than 3 times in a run, you should max DD instead. If you get lucky and meet Patroclus, he can refill all of them for you
