If you've spent it and then left the room, it's committed to whatever you spent it on. Just gotta acquire some more
But if you go on a run right after spending it, without leaving the training room first, you can select Give Up during the run and it will reset to before the run started including giving you back the spent blood
But if you die or leave the training room before starting the run, then it's set
My best advice before you start asking questions is play for a few hours first. If you don't know what something is, just try it out and see! Exploring and learning is half the fun

call gauge doesnt carry over per encounter as others have mentioned, but its worth noting that calls are usually worth using even against bosses as they either 1) provide free damage or 2) make you invulnerable

Depends on the weapon. With the sword, spear, fists, or rail, the primary attack hits fast so you want a stackable effect like Dionysus Hangover or ||Demeter's freeze||; then you take a non-stackable status effect - probably Aphrodite's Weakening - on the special.
Zeus, Athena, and Poseidon don't offer a status effect right away but you can inflict one (Jolted, Exposed, or Rupture) with a second Boon from them. Artemis has a status effect (marked) but it's very hard to apply with any reliability. Ares' Doom counts, but it doesn't last long without Impending Doom.

I have trouble with spear because of the medium range. It’s hard for me to find the far edge and I get too close to the action.
Not to mention triple spear and Demeter attack makes it very hard to see what is actually going on on the screen.

Yea I like the special attack on spear with aspect of zag. The extra damage pulling it back is nice, esp if you can land the one boon that gives I think 50% crit chance on recovery

I personally use Shadow Presence, Chothnic Vitality, Death Defiance (max this as fast as you can), Greater Reflex, either Boiling or Abyssal Blood are useful, Infernal and Stygian Soul are both good (I prefer Stygian for cast builds), Deep Pockets, and Thick Skin.

There is almost nothing terrible in the game, you can adapt to every option and change your build on the fly

My favourite feeling is when I get 3 terrible boons and I reroll and then it shows 2 of the previous ones and a different but also terrible boon
