I can't remember exactly what I went for but my long shot attack was good, but then it was hard to move around in the small chambers to kill lots of small opponents

It is true the only time you should use your special on bow is when facing tiny rats. But they die in one hit regardless of upgrades anyhow so upgrading special is really not worth it.

You should also always dash strike and time your powe shot

This allows the charge time to be lower and you can dodge more often.

I would say to ignore special hammer even.

If you have issues with styx mobs but not with the final boss(this should not really happen), you can take the broken spearpoint. ||It makes styx pretty trivial, but the boss has a mostly low attack rate with very high damage attacks which is bad for the spearpoint.||

Realistically just don't pick spearpoint in styx and dodge more, acorn is way better considering how much harder the boss is

It's 5. Each hit of the boss is 25-50 or more if you have boiling blood. If you assume 30 per hit, you have 30*5=150 damage mitigated. Tooth mitigates 100 and Lambent plume requires you to use it the whole run to make it worthwhile, so acorn is best. If you want to go offensive, you can go pom blossom and do lots of tunnels

The logoc behind pom blossom in styx is that every chamber in a tunnel counts, so you get lots of procs in realtively little time. If you have a lot of boons outside of your core damage boons, it is bad because you will waste procs, but it can work well in certain situations.

Also mirror and aspects help a lot for clear speed. Pausing while making decision helps with IGT. Overall more aggressive playstyle to do more damage, etc. It comes with experience, imo.
