I live for tank gameplay in any game. Everyone can just eliminate foes to prove their superiority but nothing asserts more dominance than facetanking all their attacks without even flinching. It feels so good when you just break another players morale and they just give up on attacking you and just sit there waiting for something else to happen

The main reason to sell boons is because if you have X attack boon, you are unlikely to see another. So you could take an early attack boon to help you get thru the first level and then sell it and find what you want afterwards to improve your build.

Any given slot that’s filled with a Boon already you are unlikely to see “upgrades” for that slot

keep in mind thou that it's not guranteed and if you swap an attack/special/cast/dash/call boon with another it will have increased rarity

If you don't mind spoiling yourself, I would suggest watching a video to see how to dodge/attack him.
If you don't want to do that, I think practice and having a good build can help. Stuff like Divine Dash and Athena's Aid help a lot in this fight.

With good damage, you can also attrition the boss to death (but this means you have a god run essentially so not reliable).

But as for why Feather is not ideal. It's because you need to hold onto it.

To go Feather you should get it from Tartarus to have a decent value by the end of the run.

This means you can't use other keepsake and lose out on opportunity cost.

So this means you want to stack it as high as you want. So probably Tartarus or Asphodel is when you want to equip it and never take it off.

my main advice for the game: Keep dashing. Dashing is so goddamn usefull. Its absurd how much damage you can avoid with it

Nemesis and Poseidon are both good. Poseidon can make for really fun runs focusing on casting with stuff like Electric Shot or Phalanx Shot.
