Anyone have any tips for the boss of Elysium? I just had my best run to-date where I managed to defeat the bull with 3 (!) retries intact, and I still got flattened by the champion when he started just filling the arena with AoE patches.

Honestly I have a harder time with him than the final boss.
His spear gets me more than just about anything else. But like 'everyone' just said - learn the AoEs, or just spam dash. Aegis does a good job vs him for the most part because you can block and get an extra long dash out of AoEs.
Max Aphrodite's call him when he's spamming AoEs for the juicy 2.5K damage, too

I hateee new reply function @sweet star ||Yeah some mirror upgrades help with that. Also : Keepsakes from gods increase boon rarity from them, also some chaos boons can increase boon rarity, as can one of the options from Eurydice, and you mentioned the well of Charon which offers an item that increases the rarity of your next boon. No your relationship status with a given god doesn't have any impact on boon rarity. If you're looking for specific boons you can check the codex to see what pre-requisites they might have.||

@odd monolith ||as a new player I had the same problem too few days ago. Was relying on deflect too much. As you learn how dash is basically an "iframe" and to utilize iframes you'll see an insane improvement in your gameplay! Basically if you dash in the right times, you are invul to anything for that frame!

Yeah, every aspects works. But some aspects need to be well upgraded before they are "fun" to use. Personally I would recommend Hera bow or Nemesis sword if you want something that doesn't need too much blood to be good.

One clear I did was with Athenas dash and also Athenas Call, but I also had ||Demeters lazer crystals and duo boon with athena and demeter that lets you heal over time....so I was basically just avoiding and damaging with the crystals...||

@terse tundra for meg there was a nice video on yt that I unfortunately don't remember....but the main idea is to wait for her to come to you (she will stop at a distance to dash at you) dash away from her (same direction she is going) which let's you dodge her attack but still close enough to land a few hits! Also Athena deflect dash is a big help when starting out :)

@digital grove when I'm using the Secret Aspect of the Spear, ||Aspect of Guan Yu, I usually hope for Daedelus' Hammer and choose the upgrade that speeds up charging of the spin attack. That way, I can use the life drain function effectively. Keep in mind that the deduction in HP is applied to the TOTAL max HP. So instead of gaining 25 Max Hp when picking up a centaur heart, you'll gain less depending on the level of the aspect.||

@tame flame if you meant the keepsake of ||Chthonic Coin Purse, don't worry. You won't have a negative currency when you spent it. I usually use that keepsake so I have a gold (obol) boost. I switch it out with another keepsake after I defeat the furies before I enter Asphodel. ||

Bounties (Blood, Gems, Ambrosia) can be traded by the Broker in the House, bought by Charon in ||Styx|| or by beating the bosses at gradually increasing levels of ||heat||. Yes for you, each weapon has its own level of ||heat|| so after level 1 would be level 2. The limit for bounties I believe is at 20 ||heat|| but ||heat|| can go beyond that (the most popular for players to stop at is 32)

Oh oh there's also the list of ||Favours|| that you unlock from the contractor which will probably be your main way of getting large amounts of bounties and gems
I wouldn't reccomend using only one weapon (personally that feels a bit boring), so maybe try as many aspects as you can, and level all the ones that interest you gradually

HI ! Im Fairly New to hades, i am at almost 30 attempts and the furthest i've went is in the last zone where when you enter a chamber, you need to fight rats that shoots poison and stuff like that. I was wondering if theres a "safe" way to clear those rooms? I always fail my runs at that part

It's just a matter of killing quickly and being aware of were the healing wells are located. Styx is designed precisely to keep you in closed spaces with tanky, status-inflicting dudes. My approach is to make sure my damage output is fairly decent when I get to styx, and to be as fast as I can. Treat styx as a speedrun.

I see, i tried both rushing the zone or having a "campy" playstyle, and when i try to "speedrun" i always endup dashing into some poison, and if i play too campy, im good against those, but then the ones that shoot the poison mess me up so bad

Speed is your friend in styx, sometimes if your damage output is good enough and you're fast enough, it's better just to kill the mobs, that clears out all poison in the room and on yourself. Get in, get out, go fight dad.

@zinc acorn It depends a bit on your weapon/build, but generally speaking you almost always want to be moving at all times in the game. Enemies don't track very well, lots of them have a windup that targets wherever you were last standing, so if you're moving you can make them miss a lot. Consequently, effects that benefit from you moving (dashing effects, hermes stuff) are great ways of building synergies.

@upper raft I think undamaged alludes directly to HP bar and not armor, so any damage buff doesn't apply to armor UNTIL you start damaging HP, which basically means the "first hit"

Personally, what works for me is keep your distance, watch the pattern of her movement and attack when she's not moving. Boons that deflect are very helpful, to me. I'm not that experienced in the game, so these are just general tips. Take your time, and I first beat her by ||having her chase me over the spike traps, which usually deal damage to her while she stands there||

@leaden whale honestly, Meg isn't too different than any other enemy. Learn their movement patterns, keep moving yourself, get your damage in when you can. You'll get it, just takes a little practice
as you play more you'll learn/find some build synergies that will help
but i wouldn't worry too much about learning/researching those
early on it's just about good movement

@zinc acorn I would say that using a dash like Athenas deflect is helpful in the rat area, that or Poseidon's dash since it does damage as you dash into enemies, helps clear the tiny rats

Destroying a room full of tiny rats with a dash attack is the most satisfying feeling in the entire game

@leaden whale first time I beat her was with the bow. Ranged weapons make you take in better the pattern of bosses in my opinion, as well as make you pay more attention to your surroundings. Try ranged and then move up to close quarters when you feel comfortable with having the pattern down, you'll get her eventually.

The thing that helped the most against meg is using your weapon to block the projectiles
I was getting shredded at the projectiles
I always try to get the dash to deflect so that i can go in and out from when fighting her close range, or i use some of my tools to interrupt/beat the projectiles

I am a casual player and play on a switch, it's decent. It's better on the switch vs the lite for example as I felt the Joycons are better than the in-built joysticks from a comfort POV especially vs annoying fights like bone hydra.

@shell panther if you pick up a gods boons they are in a slot of 4 possible gods that will appear during your run (hermes and chaos don't count towards that)
After you filled all slots only those 4 and hermes and chaos will appear
You can equip a gods keepsake to get a new god but that will kick one of the others out of the slots
Also if you get a 4th god in a shop but the next chamber already has another generated you can pick up a 5th god without a keepsake
That will still kick one tho

||Run perpendicular to him (no need to dash) to avoid his spear thrust 100% of the time easily in phase 1, this way you only need to look out for the skull cast and the spin. Time your empty-dash to i-frame those. Don't panic and spam dash, but rather, try to actually time it calmly. It's scary at first, but you'll get better. Make sure you don't cancel your empty dash into a dash-strike or anything because that will cancel your i-frames. After evading a spin attack is the best time to attack him because he'll take quite a bit to recover there.||

Divine Dash will probably help you more than Hunter Dash. But the DPS from Hunter Dash is definitely a good pick, too.

||Not sure if good advice as I'm not exactly a good/experienced player but they seemed fairly easy compared to other bosses when facing first. I have just been focusing Theseus and avoiding Asterius's jumps. I also try and get any armor piercing items if possible, idk if he has a lot of armor but the sound effects suggested that :D||

||I usually go for Asterius first since bringing Theseus down to 50% HP will trigger his Area damage from the Gods. It would be harder to evade. I play with sound so I know when Theseus is targeting me with his spear. Or if you can't do that, check if there is a purple target on you. Stand by the structures to ensure Theseus doesn't stab you.
For Asterius, he usually does a three combo attack. Two regular swings and one junp attack. Once you know he'll do that, you can time your attacks. You should consider fighting Asterius solo in the mini boss so you can have practice. Defeating him in the mini boss will also bring down his starting HP in the final battle to around ~70%.
Once Asterius falls, you can go attack Theseus. Theseus will ALWAYS face you and block all your attacks with his shield. Unless you have piercing damage. You can't hurt him at all. Keep evading in this sense. You'll get your chance to hurt him AFTER he throws his spear. Once he does, he'll retreat facing his back to you and you can attack him for about ~2 secs. Then repeat until you defeat him.||

So bounty question: Say I didn't finish a run at a heat level but did collect say first and second boss rewards, is there no way to get something other than darkness for first and second boss rewards than clearing the whole thing at that heat or higher first or can I go higher heat to get the first and second rewards again and the other two would be from the last heat?

For Hydra, learn what each color do. Also, watch for head slams which are the biggest source of damage, the rest of the attacks you can probably tank through tbh (though obviously dodge as much as you can). Fight the fear of the visual cluster. The heads have somewhat pronounced telegraphs, learn to read those.

Best weapon for newbie is probably vanilla Rail (if you get Cluster Bomb and Rocket Bomb, it's essentially a free win). Chaos Shield or (normal) Shield in general is fine. But Chaos (aspect) Shield specifically isn't beginner friendly. As some one who is trying to get a first win, getting the blood for upgrade can be hard. If you want shield, stick with the vanilla option.
