Also it's generally easier to focus the bull first and ignore Theseus aside from dodging the spears he hurls.

I only fought it a couple times but i feel like it will reappear 2-4 seconds after it teleports. The strategy i use is hug a wall and dodge parallel to it. the thing will either teleport infront of the wall or right ontop of you.

Dash-Strike immediately when he reappears will usually destroy the projectiles and hit him. Even if you take some damage doing that, just getting the hits in will pay off. He has very low HP! So just being aggressive will make the fight very short.

Athena's dash works wonders against theseus/asterius, once you get the timing of the spears down, just reflect all his throws back at him while you focus asterius
chances are Theseus' HP will be at 75% or less once you get to him
plus, athena's dash reflects asterius's attacks too, so it's extra damage

Is there any general tips or useful information for new timers. I've done about 18 runs so far - the furthest I've gotten is ||boss in third area twice,|| that I cannot beat, and I struggle to get to there consistently. For me it was 23, apparently.

I would recommend you focus down the easier enemies that don't have any armor, and just make big circles around the armored ones.
They die faster, and you can stun them, so they won't harm you as much.

If you feel audacious, go for the weak mobs he happens to target, his attacks are all slow and telegraphed (small scythe (single target), or big circle of impending demise (area attack), in which case you can also knock them out of the circle).

The Trial of the Gods is great because it gives you two boons for the price of one, but the battle is gonna be harder as the spurned god gets cranky and works against you.
The only caveat with those rooms is that you cannot get the duo boon from the two gods inside. So if you get Ares / Aphrodite Trial you cannot get Curse of Longing. Any other duo boon involving one of these gods you can get if you qualify, but not the combo from both.

A trial is denoted by a pair of boons along with a skull marker indicating a difficult room. Two boons are offered near the exit(s) and Zagreus must choose one over the other. The spurned god becomes displeased and summon waves of armored enemies who gain a bonus effect based on the god's powers.
Duo Boons which pair with the other god are not offered, although they may offer to exchange already obtained boons from the other god.
So, I guess, it really is impossible to get Duos from the Trial.
What a shame.

Okay, so Erebus rooms need 5 heat active for you to be able to enter them in Tartarus, 10 for Asphodel, 15 for Elysium and they don't show up in Styx.
Inside is a medium sized chamber that will give you a double reward (so, double health, double gold, double pom, better god rarity).
However you cannot be hit once. If you get hit once the room is failed and you get a kinda sarcastic "prize" instead of the promised reward.

Each keepsake will only force the god until you've picked up 1 boon from that god. (Shops don't count.)
Lord Hermes is the only one that can appear instead.
So, if you use one in the first region and pick up a boon from that god, it won't force another in the second region.

You can have you health reduced to 0 once every chamber, and get healed back to 30%. That means that if you haven't used your defiance yet and are below that, you can "kill" yourself and come out with more health.
The downside is that boss fights have less margin for error.

How do I get better at this game? Played about 20 hours and beat the final boss once on my #29 attempt (after getting killed by him like 7 times) but i haven't been able to beat him again. And to answer your question, my advice is always to take each fight slowly at first, instead of rushing to kill every enemy, take a bit of time to learn what their attacks look like. During boss fights, instead of spamming dash to dodge everything, watch the boss closely to see how they choreograph their attacks. It's worth taking a bit of extra damage, or even losing a run, to learn more about how to avoid every attack.

You'll get a yes from some people, a no from others. Personally, I prefer to play with all of the weapons, maybe having a couple (shield, fists) that I'm better at, but overall getting at least decent with all of them. Other people will focus hard into one weapon, getting really good at it like Nyaa with the Fists

The survival rooms are a prototype for later challenges (kill lots of enemies OR donβt get hurt), but reward for neither. Look for safe places and kill stuff only when needed to create some.
Gemstones are chamber rewards similar to darkness or keys.
Later on, you can get them from treasure troves or fish, but that requires upgrades from the contractor first.

Hydra can be a bit of a stumbling point, but he doesn't really have THAT much attack variety. It's usually boss 3 that's the first "slamming into a brick wall" point for the game for a lot of people

Hello Hades Community. I just want to say the Hades is my 1st Rogue-Lite and it is amazing. I just started today and I love it. The story is insanely detailed and I like how every run is different as there are new rooms and different loot routes making it exciting and fun. I just want to thank SuperGiant and anyone else who worked on this game and thank you. I cannot wait to beat it, hopefully before the summer ends. Again, I love this and thank you all!!!

I play with whatever weapon get's the darkness buff and the sword never seems to get it(not that it's my favorite weapon, but I want to play it sometimes)

Personally I just play whatever I feel like. The darkness buff is nice and all but it's just 20%, if you're still pushing bounties and aren't getting the Boss darkness there's not a lot of consequences to not having it.
