one key thing about getting more DD's in your mirror is that it gives you more time to practice the stuff you have trouble on
Like, if you're just barely reaching the biome 2 boss, and you die 30 seconds into the fight, you only got 30 seconds of practice. If you had another DD, then you'd revive, and keep fighting. Even if you didn't win, you'd probably get 2x or 3x as much practice

yeah. elysium mobs are very chunky
so if your build doesn't have a good way to deliver damage it will feel like it takes forever

but it happens. Happens to me now too sometimes; sometimes you plan a build and it doesn't come together until end of elysium. Heck, I had a build where I didn't get the key perk until styx
honestly originally I felt like elysium mobs were harder than styx, but I no longer feel that way. Styx, there's a few specific enemy types where I just really feel like I can't avoid damage

so my beowulf runs are generally good but I'm finding that when I do the "standard" dash attack + rush combo, I end up taking more damage, idk.
when I go back to how I was using shields before reading about that, i.e. a lot of charging up rushes from a safe distance, I tend to take much less damage
is using the dash attack + short rush, more of a question of just dealing damage asap, and I should mix in longer range bullrushes whenever I think it makes more sense, or just be trying to get better at doing the combo without taking damage...

the issue with long rushes is that you can't uncharge them
if an enemy gets closer to you or something you're stuck with it
also the fact that they take ages to charge
it's more consistent to do short rushes because the enemy really cant get that far in that time

im loving the aspect of arthur, I love the chunkyness of the moveset, id actually been idealizing and wishing there was something with big wide sweeps that hit hard, and well, aspect of arthur was exactly what I wanted, id gotten that hammer that reduces your life by a ton but gives you lifesteal on each hit and I ended up getting to the final boss on my first try with the aspect, im excited for more tries with a more tanky run focusing on centaur hearts/souls to get the most out of the dmg resistance it gives to see how tanky I can be

i mean the main point for me is because of the game's design, even where there is a good legendary, you can't build around it
like getting fully loaded is hard enough that it's a joke
whereas e.g. beowulf builds plan around mirage shot and played correctly you can get it very consistently (over 80%)
getting dependencies from two different gods is way better, because you can basically force both dependencies very reliably with keepsakes + keeping appropriate core boon slots open
and once you have the dependencies, you obviously get twice as many opportunities to hit a duo as a legendary

Generally on Guan Yu, the hammers you want are Charged Skewer > Quick Spin > Massive Spin > Serrated Point. Breaching Skewer and Serpent Wing also alright. And Breaching Skewer becomes top priority for the second hammer if you have Charged Skewer already.
Charged Skewer shortens the startup of Guan Yu's Special a whole lot and lets you hold your Special for up to triple base damage.
You'll want Heartbreak Flourish or Deadly Flourish ideally, anyway, for the high % damage. Guan Yu's Special has 45 base damage, piercing, and wide AOE. Anything with % damage is good on Attack except Tempest Strike is unorthodox and requires fully leaning into Poseidon to make it work (though it can be effective and fun).
For optimal DPS, you're either doing Special > Dash-Strike x2 or Cast > Dash-Strike x2 with Guan Yu. Cast for single-target, Special when you can hit multiple enemies with it (or if you have Charged Skewer). And just your Special and reposition if it's enough to one-shot things (which it often is if you have Charged Skewer).
There are two ways to charge the spin: from a normal Attack and from a Dash-Attack. 99% of the time you want to charge from a Dash-Attack. And there are three ways to release a spin: let go of Attack, Dash, and Dash-Attack. Letting go of Attack is the safest method and how you want to release it most of the time. It's also usually the best method for keeping the spin on your enemy. Releasing with a dash gives you i-frames and a lot more range for the spin, but it travels faster. You mainly use that to quickly escape a situation or to throw your spin at very far-away enemies. And releasing with a Dash-Attack gives you the extra range that a Dash gives but without any of the i-frames, but the benefit is that you can immediately charge a new spin. This method is the most aggressive and best for DPS, and it can keep you within the Deflect spin if you happen to use Divine Strike.

There are little mechanical notes like lightning bolts having a 0.2s cooldown timer per enemy, but those won't come up majorly for a while and when they do you'll probably notice them.

It's not a strategy you'll see players going for faster play use often, but I remember it being one of the easiest strategies for me early on.
Lightning on fists attack is still something I use, on the other hand.

Upgrade an aspect and go to a run, if you don't like it oress give up in the pause menu
That reverts your save before the blood is used
Otherwise you can check the pins here for a tier list on what power you should expect from each aspect
