Generally you always want Pride unless the build heavily relies on a certain duo, even some of those builds opt for Pride, it ups your Chaos and Hermes Epic odds, which is a huge buff.

But learning to optimize your odds and being efficient takes time and experience so most people come across a lot of duos/legendaries randomly for the bunch of hours before learning how they actually work

Hmmm. I don't think Hunting Blades is a good beginner build. You need quite a lot to make it good, and it starts off very weak.
For Achilles, a simple and powerful build is Tidal Dash start, then look for either Lightning Strike + Static Discharge or Deadly Strike + Hunter's Mark. Lots of poms on Tidal Dash and Static Discharge/Hunter's Mark.
If you didn't find Lightning Strike or Deadly Strike naturally in Tartarus (avoid picking up other Attacks), take the Thunder Signet into Asphodel to get Lightning Strike. If you already have an Attack, take the respective keepsake into Asphodel to get the Static Discharge/Hunter's Mark from them. If you already have that, too, you can just take Coin Purse into Asphodel for some extra cash.
Also look for any t2 boons from Poseidon that buff his dash. Ideally Breaking Wave, but Razor Shoals etc. are good, too.
When you enter Elysium, equip the Evergreen Acorn for the rest of the run.

If all 210 interactions are played before any dialogue from Orpheus regarding progress, the time it takes to play the lyre will not increase, but the progress remains, the lyre must be interacted with once after each conversation regarding the progress to trigger the next dialogue. Zagreus will not comment that he can play until the last progress dialogue has occurred.

You can just spam it. That can get boring, though.
Interact with the Lyre until Zagreus comments that he can play (210 interactions) and report to Orpheus.
If all 210 interactions are played before any dialogue from Orpheus regarding progress, the time it takes to play the lyre will not increase, but the progress remains, the lyre must be interacted with once after each conversation regarding the progress to trigger the next dialogue. Zagreus will not comment that he can play until the last progress dialogue has occurred.

Boon rarity is pretty much just a multiplier on the base numbers of the boon. Upgrading boons has diminishing returns, so while you can, for example, upgrade a normal attack boon to match the starting power of an epic attack boon, an epic attack boon with the same levels on it will still end up being higher

yes, it's normal to struggle at first: you need some time to learn the boss attacks and get use to the timing to dodge them. practice is the way to learn

There are two types of gods, flat damage gods, such as Zeus Ares and Dionysus, and % increase gods, such as Aphrodite Artemis Poseidon Athena. In general when something attacks fast and has low base damage you use a flat damage god on it because there is no point in scaling the base damage further so you resort to another external source, for example Zeus Attack on the Railgun. When something has higher base damage but is a bit on the slower side you use % increase gods because applying the flat damage reliably and quickly isn't an option, so you buff the base damage further, for example you can use Artemis or Aphrodite on Railgun Special. That's the main idea, there are some exceptions of course, you can check the pins here for a more in-depth starting guide.
