i normally dont go for hammer unless the other option is pretty bad (like meta currency or coin) because the game practically forces you to have two hammers by the end of elysium

2 runs ago I had the bow, doom on special, and the boon that gives +400% damage on armor (can't recall if just on special), ended up just spamming special and getting poms for the doom. Made it the farthest so far - to theseus, but unfortunately didn't beat heh. Newbie still

the special on the bow isn't that strong unless you're using chiron bow
the special takes a long time to fire and requires you to get pretty close to actually hit multiple arrows. putting doom on it isn't a bad idea if you want easy starting damage when you enter a room or a new wave starts but all your damage is going to come from your main attack
dash striking with the bow charges your attack faster so that's what you should be doing all the time

the "stack more hangover" boon is a duo boon for dionysus and aprhodite. not a bad option for the rail, but there are better options. zeus atk gives you more aoe damage since the lightning chains off to other enemies. there are multiple zeus boons that are beneficial that work off of this so it's better. funny enough, this duo works great for chiron bow lol

I see... in that run, the boons just randomly lined up (other choices were worse I think), to buff the special for both armored (5x dmg) and Doom. I also got Athena's legendary shield boon (can't remember how), and so that made the dash in => special => dash out combo work really well! Not the fastest, but safe.
That said, I think I might have died to Theseus because I was too slow, because there were periods of time where I was just getting hit from who-knows-where every second or something. Haven't gotten back there yet..
If I were to actually go for bow main attack, what are some good boons that would go with it?

I only just recently found out you could do something to the weapons, and put 1 ...
if you like the bow special, chiron bow is good since the special homes onto the target. kinda mediocre at low level and you'll need the hammer Relentless Volley to compensate for that. very high single target damage, not much aoe
zag bow gives you a bonus crit chance on your atk, so that's cool
hera lets you load the cast into your next atk and it can do a lot of damage in the loaded shot
